1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I have a few ideas for characters I would like to try making, but I’m not exactly searching for any sculpts to try to match with a character currently.

    2. Sometimes there are characters I think about having as dolls, but I always lose interest in this pretty quickly. Whenever I catch myself doing this I’ll tell myself no to it lol.

      There’s one exception though!

I have a Volks Hinaichigo on the way (should be here today!) and she’s going to remain as Hina, for a bunch of reasons. I’ve wanted this doll for so long, since 2009, and can’t really separate the character from the sculpt anymore. Changing her hair (blonde curls) and eye colour (green) isn’t something I want to do either. When I first saw Rozen Maiden, Hina reminded me so much of my littlest sister (who is a lot younger than me) and like Hina, she’s also the 6th out of 7.

So yea, Hina is a really special character to me and I am fine with her being the one doll who stays as a non-OC character. :)

    3. One of the things I love the most about BJDs is that you're not stuck with franchises you don't care about, and the core of the hobby is customization.

    5. New doll is... MOSTLY a character doll. I mean I'm calling him 'Marty', even though he's also perfectly capable of portraying a couple of OCs with just a change in wig and outfit... I just think he's going to spend 90% of his time being one of my favorite little guys from a movie that means a lot to me and if I can occasionally kit him out to represent a D&D character (or maybe a Star Trek fan character), or an OC I've written about/shared with friends, like I LOVE getting that kind of mileage out of my doll collection!

Some of my dolls are named after characters I like but they're their own characters based around the doll, and that's not the case with Marty-- he IS Marty McFly, it's just that he can *also* jump in and be another character for photo purposes when I need a physical representation of a halfling bard and he just happens to be the right scale compared to other dolls in the house.

    6. I have Volks' official collabs (in DD/vinyle form or in SD/resin form) for Anya Forger from SpyXFamily, Lina Inverse from Slayers, 2B from Nier Automata, Sorbet from Shining Hearts (technically a plushie from Volks for their Melty), Disney's Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Y'shtola from FFIV, and Amakusa Shirou Tokisada (technically a historical figure). I'm also waiting for Alisaie and Alphinaud from FFIV to arrive as I pre-ordered those a while back.

I would also like to get more Volks collabs of the following but most likely they will be put onto my Grail list as I missed out of those collabs when they occurred and they are all limited editions:

    7. No, I have far too many of my own original characters and way too many new ideas boggling my mind at any given time as it is. But I truly admire those with the dedication to pull something like this this off. I know, for instance, there’s a Link from the Legend of Zelda game on this forum that completely blows me away.:3nodding: The closest I ever got to something like this was to create my own OC discarded persocom from the Chobits manga series…but she’s entirely her own doll with her own story, just based on the general ideas of the manga.

    8. I don’t really have any OCs personally.
Otto Jr. is a shell of Otto Apocalypse and I want to turn Andrius into a shell of Nabhani from Sultan’s Game. Though in his case I ordered him because I thought the sculpt was pretty and I haven’t been able to decide on an original character for him, so I thought I’d turn him into Nabhani since I think the face would be suitable.

    9. Echoing what @aihre said:
I have two fully customized off-topic dolls (Obitsu11) that are based off my favourite characters from The Sandman. In the three years I spent obsessively writing / plotting fanfics about them, at some point I became very invested in the AU where the characters are not only human, but the female versions of them in a sort of high-tension drama similar to the movie The Devil Wears Prada, but make it enemies to lovers and about art galleries.

I love these versions of the characters so much, I decided to shell them in a form more detailed and realistic than Obitsu11 could ever afford—and that's how I landed here in BJD hobby.

After months spent detailing the characters and their world, I came to accept they are no longer simply the genderswapped versions of the preexisting characters, but have fully become my OCs—with their own names and vastly different personalities. But if you knew them well enough and are familiar with their inspirations, some resemblance can still be spotted.

    10. I do hope to one day make a couple of 1/6 Kagamine Rin & Len dolls tbh. But other than that I only want my own original characters.

    11. I once thought I would make a doll based on a character from a book, but Rei developed into a unique being anyway. My other dolls are purely from my mind.

    12. Loove character dolls. It takes the fun part about cosplaying and lets me channel it into my doll without having to worry about what I look like. The good thing is I can always recreate the dolls without having to feel guilty about scrapping an OC as well.

    13. I love character dolls!!! It’s a great way to make my hyperfixations into tangible things. I have plans on making a Sephiroth themed doll soon muhahaha :evilplot: I also reallyyy want to shell Jen and Kira from The Dark Crystal into dolls as well.
