1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I do not own pure character dolls, as even my limited character Dollfie Dreams are lightly customized and given new names. At most, they occasionally cosplay as the character they were designed after, but that is not how I think of them in my mind nor how they fit into my collection. I do have a couple of dolls that are inspired by fictional characters, though, albeit filtered through several layers of creative separation. My Switch Sohwa is loosely based on Haurchefant Greystone from FFXIV, but they look nothing alike and only share a handful of personality and story similarities.

    2. I'm running into a bit of a problem with character dolls, that I touched on slightly in my previous post in this thread, does anyone else start to see characters in sculpts that they would love to shell but there's no reason to have a doll of that character- as in, a specific sculpt would be perfect for Character A but you aren't even particularly interested in having a doll of Character A other than the idea of that sculpt being a fun project to make into that character? I'm experiencing this with Himiko Toga from BNHA at the moment, I don't have a pressing need to add her to my collection but I keep getting inspired by all the toothy smiley sculpts I see go by! I feel like it's a shame to not bring one of those dolls to live up to the potential, and I'm lucky I already have plenty of unfinished projects so I can't justify starting another, because otherwise even though I love the character, and yet have no real interest in having a version of her in my physical presence like I did with Dabi and Shigaraki, I still would absolutely end up seeking one of these sculpts out and starting a new project if I didn't keep myself and my wallet in check.

I've seen this happen with people who have a lot of OCs to shell, like wanting to shell an OC as a doll and then, whoops, gotta shell their friends... and family members... and acquaintances... does this happen to others with canon character dolls as well, where you have to fill out the entire cast, so to speak? Toga isn't even the first or second hypothetical additional BNHA related project I've had on my mind lately, I've been considering Hawks as well since there are some good winged bodies out there- and in the same scale as my Dabi, a bonus! But at some point it gets to be too much, doesn't it?

    3. Not the exact same as this tends to happen to me not necessarily with dolls I'd actually want to put together, but I have absolutely seen sculpts that I've thought "oh wow, this would make a perfect (insert x character from y series) and if I think about it too much, I take a photo of the headsculpt and draw a mock faceup and hair over them digitally just to satisfy my curiousity of what a hypothetical of that doll would look like, ahaha. Not to be an enabler, but a Toga really would work super well in doll form with all of those smiley sculpts out there, she's got a very cute design!

I own one character doll (Iori Yagami from King of Fighters,) and though it would be nice for him to have someone to "fight" against, I haven't felt that draw to attempt shelling another KOF character, (including the two I actually main, King and K') especially since they'd have to meet very specific stipulations (IE: the character would also have to be 75cm to be in scale with him, also semi-realistically styled, etc.) He's kind of just an odd outlier, but I really enjoy him and I like the novelty of such a fierce, badass type doing something mundane like dynamically holding out my tablet pen like the world's most elaborate stand, lol.

Another I have is a character doll (Dollfie Alphinaud, from Final Fantasy) but I don't quite count him as I don't intend on keeping the doll as that character and plan to get a custom faceup and some modifications for the sculpt itself, but he is very cute.

I do have some plans for character dolls, two I am currently working on (though one is just a head so far and the other just the body and outfit) and another I'm tentatively dipping my toes in the water of entertaining in doll form, but I'm not sure what exactly is my personal criteria of picking them! They are characters I really enjoy, but oddly enough, some of my favorite characters of all time, I don't actually think would turn out quite correct in a 3D visualization or like I'd want in doll form, so I think of an intersection of both what I enjoy and what I think would be fun as a toy.

    5. I didn't think I'd make any canon (non-oc) character doll plans when I first got into the hobby because my character interests tend to be really intense for a time and then move on...buuut the more I think about it the more I want to make some anyway, at least for some characters I've loved for years :evilplot:

What I would prefer to do is get one body that would suffice well enough for all of them and then just swap out heads depending on what character doll I want to have at the moment...but the problem is that a lot of my fave characters lately are older men and there are aren't many sculpts of those (especially at 1/4 or special 1/4 scale, which is what I'd prefer to do for money's sake)...:sweat

The character I want to shell most is Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen, so I'm on the lookout for sinister-looking smiles for him :sneaky And two others I'm considering are Valter from Fire Emblem 8 and maaaybe Kureo Mado from Tokyo Ghoul, so...older-looking sinister smiles for them... (all the characters I want to shell are so evil ahahah)
