1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I prefer to have my own original character dolls. I mean it has more depth to me. I think its cute that people have character dolls, but that my style.

Besides even if I did, the doll personality probably wouldn't fit with the character. Just to kinda smite me.

    2. Mariust, OMG Urd. Cool... I have figures (gashpon and yellow sub) always wanted to do a bjd but then... I need K-1, Urd, Bell, Skuld, then there's peorth... etc.
Sounds like this could get expensive.
I still want K1 from OMG, not sure how to go about it. I also am hoping to get a bjd to create Hitsugaya Toushiro from Bleach. Just haven't found a triangular face with such huge eyes.
Is it just me or are most faces without expression. Toushiro wouldn't be Toushiro without an aggravated face.

    3. Gah.. I feel that people that have character dolls just have the dolls LOOK like the characters but they are nothing like the characters themselves. Like when someone says this is my _____ doll. I just don't think anything of it. Its just a doll that looks like that character.=| The only person who could possibly get that characters personality right is probably the Creator themself. :sweat
edit: this wasn't intended to be taken in a bad way. :sweat.

    4. My current doll, and one of the ones I'm waiting for are character dolls. I think it's about on the same level as writing fan fiction, or drawing fan art. Of course you're not the creator, but that's never stopped anyone from wanting to play with the characters on any other medium. Why would dolls be different? ^^

    5. Hey, just wanted to drop a note here -- I noticed a bunch of people mentioning characters from the Sandman, and I'm doing a Minimee order of Death if anyone's interested.

There's an event price going on right now, so if we get just one more person (ie, 8 total orders) that'd be as cheap as they usually are for 10 - 10 orders would be $96.

Sorry to the mods if this is spam-like!! I thought it might be valuable information for some people who were interested in Death. :)

    6. I know this is an old post but yes, I am also looking for a 60cm Samurai X Rurouni Kenshin doll in his Japanese costume with his cross shaped scar properly marked on his face and with his sword but of course, I can't find him. If not because of the original 27cm Rurouni Kenshin doll from Volks, I won't be in this forum today looking at BJDs. I was trying to find out more about the 27cm Kenshin doll's manufacturer when I saw the 60cm Okita Shouji. Sigh, I did not know how difficult or expensive it is to buy a doll like Okita at that time but he isn't the Samurai I hoped to see. :|

I don't yet have a doll, for 6 months, I've been looking for my first doll and getting impatient. :x I am now resigned to the fact that my first SD will have nothing to do with anime. I am even prepared to go for a girl instead of a boy doll. :( Trying to buy my first BJD is scary because of the price. I feel that I don't know enough of BJDs to own one.

About character dolls: I pre-ordered the 27cm doll figure Zero R2 Code Geass from Medicom (My avatar). I am getting worried because the release date keeps getting pushed back. I want to keep Zero, original from Medicom even if he is only 27cm.

    7. Yeah, that made sense (atleast if I interperted you rightly, heh) - and that's what I'd plan to do as well if I made a character doll: having a character doll who is a really minor character or is my own character but takes place in an already existing world of someone's story/ect.

It allows more room for me to develop their own story/personality/ect but is sitll connected to a story/ect I love and at the same time, it isn't just a plain blank slate that I'm unsure of what to do, and what will work.

I'm still undecisive of how my first BJD will be (orginal or minor character), though.

    8. Nope, I haven't and I have no desire to.
I like to put a little "me" in my dolls. I prefer (for my dollfamily) to have original characters. Because then, there is no limit.
If I'd have a.. say Jack Sparrow.. I couldn't dress him in a PVC skirt. That would be odd and not Jack Sparrow-ish. But with my made-up character Ivan, I can. ;)

    9. I'd like to have one based off of Reno from FF, one of Tamaki from Ouran, and a couple of the twins from Ouran. And maybe a Haruhi, Hunni, Mori, and Kyoya from Ouran... Eventually that is...( I know, I dream big!)

    10. I would like two BJD's of Sunako from Wallflower -- one in her super-deformed state, and one in her full-sized state. Of course, there are three uber-bishies in the story, but everything has its limits ... especially my wallet!

    11. Never :<

I think that even though it shows how much a person likes that character, it is not originaly theirs and I think it is weird to to have the character of someone else as a doll......

It is like if someone make a doll of my character... Just so weird and not right XP

It is not original enough XP

The closest I would be to that... is making my chara cosplay other ones XD

    12. i have a baby kisame from naruto at the moment and sculpting a gir from invader zim. and a baby kyuubi from naruto :)

      i have plans for
ace luffy and franky as babies too, in puki size. all from one peice
      an sd nico robin also

      big kisame from naruto
toddler gaara and toddler naruto from naruto

    13. I'm getting my first doll, Andrea from Angell-Studio and plan on making him into Fai D. Flourite from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. It will be a few months, but I'll definately post photos once he's done.

    14. I have a few beloved character dolls planned, and one girl and boy cosplay doll planned. (the 10th Doctor, is first on that list)
I know that my roommate is only interested in the Puki's, (bigger dolls terrify her apparantly) and wants one as Ed and Roy from FMA.

    15. I prefer creating original characters for my dolls personalities (outside of BJD) just because they sort of... slot into their realm a lot better than a premade character ever could....

    16. My Atsu is not a character doll, though his name is similar with Buck-Tick's Atsushi Sakurai. And I don't plan to buy any character doll... I think that they arrive with they're own characters and don't need to be compared or made into someone's creation.

    17. i'm going to make a Lord Folken doll. he was my most favourite character from Escaflowne, one my most favourite animes. i might end up making a Dilandau to go with him if he gets lonely

    18. My friend wants one but I like giving my BJDs their own story. It makes them more like they're mine and not something else...

    19. OHMIGOD, I WANNA SEE PICS.

My boy happens to be based off Duo Maxwell of Gundam Wing!~ I'm currently saving for Tieria, a character from Gundam 00.

I really don't love any of my original characters enough to buy dolls for them...But Duo is a character that is really very sentimental and dear to me. He was well worth it~

    20. I like my dolls to be their own person with their own personality. Also it means that they're mine and only mine, where as a doll based off another character isn't really yours. I will make them cosplay every now and again.
