Cherish Doll Faith Discussion

Hmm, possibly Monday was indeed a holiday. But as they are several hours ahead, hopefully that means someone will read and reply to my post.

Well, got a response from Cherish. They will send the wig and eyes in the color they said they would originally, but they will do nothing about the face up. They'll take the doll back, but they won't refund the $30 I paid for shipping, nor what it would cost me to return her to them. So, either way, I'm out money. I told them I'll keep her, she was a gift from my husband because the winter had been so bad. My father passed in early Feb, and at the same time, I had a health issue that culminated in surgery last Monday. He bought Beau for me to give me something to smile about and something else to think about. I have to say that I am quite disappointed, and would never recommend ordering a face up from them, because what you see is not necessarily what you'll get. The doll is fine, but the face up is not.

I'm sorry this didn't turn out well for you Opal. It's hard when you're dealing with companies on the other side of the world.

I'm planning on making an exception to my rule of not buying faceups for one upcoming doll, and I hope that turns out okay. People seem to have good things to say about DoD's work, but stories like this make me nervous.

Some of the faceups I saw in the Ringdoll waiting room were downright scary, too. Then some of them were gorgeous, it was really hit and miss. My Yanagi looks great, but...

 

Well, I have to say that my faith in Cherishdoll has been restored quite a bit. They said they will ship out the right wig and eyes, ASAP. They also said that they want to do something about the situation with the face up, will have to think about what to do. I appreciate that they actually heard me and didn't just continue to give me the stock answer about 'face ups vary'.

 

That's good, I am glad they are working to help fix the situation.

I've ordered a metallic eye for Mayonaka... His eyes are a little light for him and he liked these:

 

Yesterday I received my Andy with New Body, and they had also shipped the wrong wig (a bob cut instead of a "wave bob" that looks more like a shaggy cut than a bob -- and worse yet, the bob is showing the wig cap through the hair and looks awful). I've asked in their Q&A about what to do now, but it was a bit disappointing. I'm glad to hear that they're sending the correct wigs, though. Thanks for sharing your problems with Cherish, opal! It's given me a lot of hope ^_^;

Besides, I was surprised to check that the head is some 5.3" in circumference, not 4.5". The head is definitely bigger than my Parabox 21HD-F01/ Pawn heads, and the Andy can't use their wigs at all Ô_ó

I've had two wigs from them and neither showed the wigcap, so it may depend on the style. I hope when you get the right one it's better.

 

Yeah, I guess I just had some bad luck with the wig.

 

It sounds like they may be having problems getting orders right at the moment though.

 

Yah, I thought it was my imagination, but apparently not. Beau is wearing one of my PKF wigs, which is a 5/6, not a 4/5. The wig they sent does fit her, unlike the eyes, but that must mean that their wigs are a 5/6 as well. The eyes are glib, and full rounds. There is not room in her little head for full rounds. The eyes themselves are also slightly larger than 12mm, so in a head that small, the little bit of difference is magnified.

 

Yah, the eyes I have in right now are a bad color choice for her orange/bronze face up, but they're all I had that fit. They are Safrin flat back in 12mm and they fit great.

 

I think Mayonaka's 12mm glass eyes are round backed and fit fine (they have stems) but it's hard to see through the dark grey eye putty he has in.
