1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Choosing dolls vs choosing doll makers?

Jan 15, 2007

    1. I've only found a few moulds I really like, mostly in latidoll, luts and in DoD, but I have to admit I'm trying to avoid DoD ( I had a really bad experience when ordering my first dolls. I Ordered in Mid-August and didn't get them until late November.)

I really do love Latidoll moulds, but they don't exactly go with my other dolls. I may get one anyway, just because CoCo has the character personality I'm looking for ^_^

    2. Well, when I'm browsing, I don't really intend to end up this way but... I always end up seeming to like the dolls from one company best. D:

    3. Sculpt first. But that said, I usually browse the companies who have several dolls I already like. Of course, if some company I've never heard of or usually don't like their molds comes out with something that captures my heart I go for it.

    4. For me, it's sculpt over company. While I won't be adding to my collection any time soon, I have a lot of dolls on my wish list: Yewon from Souldoll, Petsha from DOD, Xiao and Niky from Blue Fairy, Bada and Ami from Angelregion, KD Jeong, Dollmore Torrie, a Volks MSD F-09 girl... I would also love to have a KN Mini Anna head. Just too many wants! XD;; Anyway, I think it's neat to have a variety of doll molds; it's more true to life.

    5. I Personally look for the perfect dolls for my characters, problem is most of the dolls i like are CP dolls, although i have seen some other dolls that will suit the other characters i want to make.

    6. I will choose the dolls first instead of makers, even though the dolls I am having right now happen to be all VOLKS ^_^;
But I am quite sure I will definitely have any dolls from the replica......Such as DZ.
      Just my personal reference.

    7. I never intentionally set out to build a family based on the company, but like others it has sort of worked out that way.

I love Dollshe boys and wound up with three of them. They needed girlfriends and I don't care for Dollshe girls (and similar height and style is a factor for me), but once I found the Dollmore Models, that was it in terms of partners for the boys. So I now have three of them as well.

I also have a pair of 60CM Narins, and a lone Soom Uyoo.

It's not about company to me, it's about sculpt and how they look together. It just sort of worked out that the Dollshe boys and the Models do that so well.

    8. while i dont have a doll yet, i guess i'll base it on which doll i've fallen in love with. :)

    9. I tend to value the doll and its looks over the company (although you can really only see this is you look at my wish list XD) So long as the doll is what I want, the company it comes from shouldn't make a difference.
Although I admit I'm going to be much more at ease buying from a company I've bought from already simply because I'll know what to expect. (I already have another bluefairy planned for example).

    10. I am one of those people that when they like the service and product from a store I stick faithfull client, lol.
But I guess that when it comes to dolls I'd fo for the molds I like most.
My favorite brands are Luts, Dollshe, Iplehouse and Souldoll.
Maybe one day I'd get a Silvia or Afgah, or a boy from Souldoll :D

    11. I tend to be picky- the first thing I look at is their joints. I LOVE the molds from Luts/CP and Iplehouse.

Luts was the first BJD I've heard of or seen, so I've been loyal to them ever since. :)

    12. It make sence to me when people get dolls from the same company because then you don't have to second guess "oh will this doll look proportionate to this one that i have"? That is what usually goes through my head when I'm planning for SD sized dolls.

But with the msd's i like to go all out and go through different companies ^_^ !

    13. I think that once I buy my first, I'll probably buy from a different company. I'd love to be able to see and compare the brands first hand. ^_^

    14. It doesn't matter to me if my dolls are from the same manufacturer as not.
As long as I like their look, I'll get them.
The one thing I do keep in mind, though, is that the dolls I have don't look weird together, and are at least for the most part proportional to each other.

    15. When I bought my first doll I did, more or less, only look at LUTS becsaue my friend has such a possitive experience with them and I loved her LUTS doll. I do still prefer the LUTS bodies to any others I've seen and plan on getting more LUTS dolls but now I've looked around more I think I go for the doll more then the company.

    16. it's odd, but i always end up liking Dollzone best...

    17. I started out wanting to get dolls from different companies to see how they are.
my favs are Soom, Narin and Luts..
Luts and I have a love/hate thing with their kicky legs..
      Soom stands and poses wonderfully
      and Narin are just perfect

    18. oooo! Im still very new here and once I get enough points to go into the bidders room I wouldnt know who to go to. I guess I can just look around and just get a feel of my surroundings ^_^

    19. I guess I do Pay more attention to Kawainino sales posts becuse I love their sculpts and I know I'll have trouble finding them again. . but other then that My dolls are all over the palce. I do have a favorite maker. . but since the company dosen't exist anymore. . I can't order from them ;_;

    20. i choose them by the mold ^^ i have a CP mini fee shiwoo and am ordering a Dream of Doll U soon. i guess it depends....i think that every company has dolls that i dislike and ones that i love....=3
