Choosing your first doll - How hard was it for you?

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I chose between 3 dolls to become my first and only bjd and soulmate. The choice was hard. But I stalked absolutely different doll, of an absolute different size in Flickr. I could not take my eyes off the screen and rushed to learn more about her. I did not doubt she will be mine.

And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
At once. When I saw her.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one?
I have not received her yet, but the more I look at other people's pics the more I love my doll.

Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
Supia Rosy. I hope I can live with her dark tan when she arrives.

I saw Yumi the other day when I was searching for Dal doll, and the moment I saw her, I know, she is the one in my dream!

I hope she is not only my first but also the last....with her twin sister Dami....I love them

It was a present for my birthday (from my own)

I thought a Realpuki would be my first bjd but I saw a Nabiyette with orange hair and she looked so cute I had have her.

And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
She was the last Nabiyette Garden of Dolls was selling so it seemed just right that she would be my first.

Did you get unhappy with your choice? Do you wish / did you wish that you've ordered another one?
When she arrived I was thrilled to bits that was only a few weeks ago and I smile every time I look at her. I am very happy.

I really admired a particular doll for awhile and had decided if I was ever going to buy a doll, he'd be the one. (only one! hah) Then I saw HER, and knew that I was going to buy her.

As soon as I saw her. I was smitten.

Not at all. I still love her.

Dollmore Black Candy Ipsae, and yes, I still have her.

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
For my first BJD, I saw someoner post a picture of Iplehouse Lahela. I kept looking at her evey day for weeks.

And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
As soon as I saw her. I was smitten. Coudl nto keep away from looking at her. On the last day to order her I did it. She was sooo compelling to me. buy her.

I still love her, just don't have space to dsiplay her all the time. So she is boxed a lot.

I still have her.

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I wanted whichever doll would make me happiest without throwing all my money into the wind (kind of a go-big-or-go-home idea since I had convinced myself I would only ever have one doll)
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
When I could not find anything that spoke to me more, and after going to the store realizing the only ones I loved all had the same face sculpt.

I was SO NERVOUS about my choice, especially since I could have chosen a less expensive brand and i was so nervous that the choices I made for her custom face up might not come together well. But as soon as I saw her for the first time I was absolutely happy, she was perfect! (and still is!)
Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
Volks MSD F-18 ordered through FCS and I still (and always will) own her.

 

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I first decided on MSD size (because of it's measurements and price range), and then decided on Luts because I really like the look of all their dolls. I immediately found "the one" after searching through all of the dolls in their gallery and looking at all the faces in detail.
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
I just felt that I HAD to have her. I could not stop thinking about her.

I'm still waiting for her so I sometimes get a little nervous about whether or not I'll like her or that she will look exactly like I have been picturing her.

Luts Kid Delf Cherry. Yes.

Yes, I chose her. No, I bought her for myself.

 

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I knew I wanted to get an MSD sized doll as my first because I thought SD would be too big but I still wanted one of a substantial size. The girl I chose reminded me a lot of a portrait by an artist I really like and I knew she was perfect.
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
I kept shopping around and looking at other dolls but I found myself going back to the Bluefairy website/ Flickr and looking at pictures of her scuplt.

I literally just saw an owner picture of an RS Gang. I had no idea how much he cost or even which company he came from, but I knew that he would suit my character perfectly so I just decided that he was the one.

The second I saw that picture (which was around July of 2012)

My first (and currently only) BJD is an RS Gang and he's still chilling in mah room B)

I wish he was a present XD I literally had to go out and find a JOB to raise money for him.

 

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?I first planned a budget on how much I was willing to spend and how big I wanted the doll, I also thought about getting a male doll instead of a female one.

I took few weeks of looking around and then I came across the company and clicked, I was scrolling the page when he caught my eye, haha love at first sight.

At first I was always second guessing myself because I could have gotten another doll, but then I kept looking at photos and I kept falling in love and staying in love. I did a lot of comparisons.
Which doll was your first and do you still own it?
I chose the Doll Chateau Douglas, he hasn’t arrived yet, but I plan on keeping him all to myself.

I chose on my own and used my own money that I have earned with my job, it feels great being able to do that.

 

I ordered two IH SD's, Eva and Stella in Jan of 2013. Being impatient, I had to get one sooner than their usual 75-90 days, so I went to Denver Doll Emporium and ordered an in stock Souldoll Flett and it arrived in 1 week. I was thrilled. So, to answer the thread....I chose my doll based on availability. I am very happy with the doll though. Now I can wait more patiently for the others.

 

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I spent a lot of time roaming DoA when I first joined, then looking at a lot of different company sites. I must have changed my mind twenty times. Until I found the MSD section of luts (I was convinced that my first doll would be an SD).
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
As soon as I saw the company photos of the kid delf Bory I was sold. I had to bring him home.

Never! I am so pleased with my first doll I couldn't have made a better decision. I'm sure that if I went with my first doll choice I would have been disappointed.

A kid delf Bory from eluts. I do still own him and I think I always will.

Yep! I picked him and then my dad ended up giving me an advance on my allowance so that I could bring him home sooner.

I had to look for a doll that i could afford and that i wanted a MSD

Actually before i decided on the doll tht i eventually got, i actually really wanted another which was an illusion spirit Zhu qing. But when i compared the two dolls, the one i got, which is a souldoll shaun, appeal to me more XD

I still haven't chosen. One of the reasons I joined this forum was to see other people's dolls so I could get a more accurate idea of what the sculpts looked like. It's very hard, and because of the expense of the dolls, I want to do a lot of research until I find a sculpt that most closely matches the image in my head for the character I want to dress up.

Of all the dolls that I considered, I liked the type the best.

I'm extremely happy with my choice and I don't regret ordering something else.

I was able to make the decision and I saved and bought her myself

 

It was SO tough. I was completely new to bjds and it seemed that every time I found one I liked, three more I liked would show up. It went from four or five bjd websites to 30 or 40 within a week! It was almost overwhelming.

 

How did YOU decide which doll should be your first?
I wanted something cheap(er) and simple, since I was obviously new to owning; but had lurked for a good few years by this point. I ended up with an MSD from eBay who I still adore.
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
I waited a bit on my decision before purchasing her, and made sure to keep my eyes open. She was the best option.

I still adore her! It's only been about a year, but she has not been ignored for the other five girls here. They all get equal care.

Choosing a doll wasn't hard, because once I saw the doll I knew I had to get it.

I fell in love with the doll right away. I waited a few months to see if I'd change my mind but I didnt'.

I went about it by just looking around on different companies. I did not have a budget, I knew I wanted a 1/3 or 70+ cm and for it to be a boy. That helped narrow it down, but not that much. It was SO HARD TO CHOOSE . But then I finaly came accross one I absolutely loved at first sight.
And when did you know that this doll should be your first?
The instant I saw him, I knew I wanted him to be my first one.

While I was waiting for him (only 8 days since he was in-stock) I got nervous that I would not like him. But when he came,he was everything I had hoped for.

My first doll is an HZ Boss. Yes, I still own him . I will never sell him.
