1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Cosplaying a Doll?

Dec 28, 2006

    1. Oh, I never knew people did this... o_o

    2. Thanks for moving my post to where it needed to be. Also thanks for all the suggestions and links to those people whohave cosplayed BJD's in the past. I do appreicate it.

    3. My favorite one so far...

    4. Haha, those cosplayers are intense. I love the attention to detail, right down to lighting and doll-like poses.

As for me, my obsession with Soom Borol & Marl really knows no limits, so I think I would pay really good money to someone who could craft a Marl outfit for me, antlers and all :D I'd want to wear it all the time! I wouldn't expect to be recognised at all, though, outside of maybe a doll panel or whatever...

(bonus points for bribing my brother into cosplaying Borol also for the full effect :V )

    5. I've been wanting to cosplay a bjd, but choosing one as the first costume has always been hard! There's so many that I want to make, the LUTS Mia Red Night Ltd. being the top of my list

I am trying to convince my boyfriend to cosplay Volks Masamune and Ringdoll Sol (any of his outfits) xD

    6. I'd love to cosplay Tender Shall someday! *u*

Hmm, I'm gonna look through my Asen's outfits to see if I can possibly twin with her in the future...

    7. i looked and couldnt find a thread about this but if there is feel free to deleet this one :)

so i was walking round london the other day and a i spotted a girl in a lolli goth outfit, which caught my atention as i find that kind of clothing facinating, but on a closer look i noticed she had tights and arm warmers patterned to make it look like she had wrist, elbow and knee joints. Now i love doll, but id never even considered dressing up as one (although to be honest my first thought was "only single jointed knees? she wont have much mobility"). It wierded me out a little, but i dont know why, as normal cosplay doesnt bother me. it did make me wonder how common a thing this was though.

Has anyone here ever dressed up as a doll? if so for what reason?

Have you seen people dressed as dolls before too? what did you think? if you havent, how would you feel if you did? :]

    8. I've seen people cosplaying dolls...Personally I wasn't a fan.

    9. I have cosplayed as a doll before, for halloween in college, tho i went the cheaper route and drew on the lines with eyeliner lol. I sat outside during my free hour after lunch waiting for my next class and startled a few people when i moved, aparently they thought someone left a art project out. (I was in front of the art building)

    10. I know some people wear BJD tights with lolita outfits, but who don't consider it a cosplay, rather just part of their lolita coordinate (a fashion accessory).

    11. There's a simple-looking tutorial on bjd tights here. I don't think I'd cosplay one (if just because I don't wear stockings, haha) but I'd really love to see someone do it in person. I'm interested to see how "realistic" they'd look.

    12. I think it's a brilliant idea. I'd love to see it at a con. I really enjoy cosplay in general, though. Seeing it. Maybe planning it. Not so much actually doing it myself.

    13. I've never really thought about doing it myself....but I do incorperate my dolls into my cosplays when I can.

    14. I'm going to be cosplaying my own doll at Anime North this year, though the circumstances are purely accidental. I ordered a purple wig from Gothic Lolita wigs to match my purple seifuku, but received a white one by accident. Realizing that I wouldn't receive a replacement in time for Doll North, I remembered that Molly has a white wig as well as a matching Wednesday Addams dress from NineStyle, and so I will indulge my inner narcissist and cosplay my own doll.

All that remains is acquiring those knee joint stockings, and I'm all set to be the most obnoxious, self-absorbed person at the con :sweat

    15. ourtangledbones, I find you and your cosplay idea very cute! ^^

Last year LDoll festival had a "Cosplay a Doll" contest which was really much fun. ^^ It was great to see so many people around in costumes.

    16. I personally want to make an assassins outfit for my bjd and then in turn make the human one for my partner (due to cad I can pretty much use the same pattern and upscale it and then tweak it) He just doesn't know they'll have to take a photo together.

    17. So - my take on this - there exist real live humans who cosplay hot resin boys. well damn. I do remember seeing the sculptor of Ringdoll Kirin cosplaying as the Gravedigger (Kirin) - THAT was incredibly, gaspingly hot... :D

    18. Oh my gosh yes, I've been planning to make a cosplay of the D.o.D. Black Ducan. There are a few others that I want to cosplay, I just can't recall their names at the moment..
