CP Delf Discussion Part 13

Jun 2, 2021

    1. Those ruffles were a real pain - the whole thing was sewn by hand. :D It's actually made of purple jersey, so it has a little stretch to it - meaning all my CP Delfs can wear it.

    2. This is where I am at with mine right now. Lookback El is sitting on a shelf between my Soony and my Shine and he looks VERY very strange and pin headed by comparison lol. Because he is the only tiny headed SD in my group I admit I'm still not sold on him even if he is very pretty and does completely look like El. Just a miniaturized version.

I guess I just prefer big heads :XD:

Finally got some pictures taken of my Shine! I've named him Pallas and I'm absolutely crazy about him, even if he is super yellowed!

    3. he's super pretty!!!

    4. @malvinas : Gads, that faceup is amazing! Easily best Shine I have ever seen! Love him so much~

    5. I have an unfair advantage, there. If my Lookback Chiwoo turns out to be a total pin-head who doesn't play well with his Delf cousins, I can put him over on the shelf with my Lati Reds. It's much harder to out Teeny-Head-Syndrome those guys.

    6. The Lookback El throws me so much because of how sideways-squished his face is. Its like they slammed him in a book or something. @_@ And comparing him to the Delf bodies, it just looks so tense. The Delf bodies just look so languid, so I didn't expect that.

    7. wow the lookback heads are small, like a lot of the charm for me is the big old noggins

Speaking of big old noggins, now that he is finally complete! Blueberry is an El, he's Pickle's brother, and he's blue. He's an ancient Type 1 on a Volks SDGr body - he needs to stay skinny enough so that I can fit him in a Dollheart Fer someday

    9. @Kim He's utterly utterly gorgeous! *speechless*

    10. Kiki and Elowen! The sweetest Elf siblings. <3

    11. @Kim Your Blueberry is so cute. How are you keeping the head and headcap on the body? With a rubber band? I also got a type 1 Delf El head a few weeks ago, which I'm 90% certain was originally a Dreaming El that had it's eyes opened.

    12. I have a few type 1 heads, i keep the head on with a teeny bit of tack or some washi tape then put the wig ontop. It's enough to hold it on for me and don't need to put the s-hook on the headcap.

    13. @KittyOrochimaru So, you use tack to keep the head on the neck? How well does it work if you need to move or pose the head?

    14. @Cloudedmind A lot of people use a neck donut, which is larger than the neckhole and prevents the s-hook from falling through. Then use sticky tack or tape to keep the headcap on.

My type 1s are attached the intended way- I have the s-hook connected to the headcap. Removing the head is more annoying but not TOO annoying- I hold the body between my knees, pull the whole head up with one hand, and with the other clamp the elastic above the neck with hemostats. I like keeping them this way because sometimes you can hear a neck piece sliding around when you move the head and I didn't like that.

    15. Thanks @overlordu! I was able to get the head on his body the intended way, but I may end up buying a neck donut as well. The body is pretty tightly strung so it was kind of a struggle to pull up on the elastic, even more so with my currently busted shoulder.

    16. I'm impressed that some of you actually attach the s-hook to the headcap, mine haven't been like that since I changed the eyes for the first time. I did the classic elastic band method.

Anyway, wanted to share a new photo of my juri05, she finally has a face!

    17. @chataignon This probably sounds weird but I basically feel nostalgia about stringing them that way. I doubt it's still there, but Luts used to have a tutorial on how to remove a Delf's head and it was with the s-hook attached to the headcap. I remember seeing the tutorial in my early days in the hobby and somehow I just... love doing it the way they did back then, even if the alternatives are more convenient! :XD:

I feel the same way about traditional pliver sueding, even though it's pretty uncommon nowadays. It's amazing to be in this hobby long enough to feel nostalgic for how we used to do things!

    18. @overlordu
No, that's fair! I get caught up in a lot of nostalgia with these dolls. I think it's why I'll always like these stylized delfs better than the realism trend, and why I'm totally fine with single-jointed dolls. It all reminds me of what we were into back then.

I also like to look at my collection in terms of how stoked I would have been to have what I have as a teenager new to the hobby.

    19. chataignon, what a fabulous faceup! And she reminds me why 05 juris are still my favorite Delf sculpt. <3

    20. Ah, thanks!! I definitely messed up a few spots, but as a first try I'm happy with it. She started off the year with nothing, and now she's a full doll which is fun. I really do love juri05s... it's the eye shape for me.
