CP Delf Discussion Part 13

    1. Finally sharing my El! This is Ambrose. He was supposed to be a sweet shy little guy but turns out he looks more like a heartbreaker than anything :lol:apparently he had his own plans!

    2. He may still be shy but wow, he's gorgeous malvinas!

    3. All these handsome boys :fangirl::fangirl::fangirl:
I'm about to bring home an unmodded NaNuRi, she's gonna be my modded Nanu's sister! So excited. Anybody have any recommendations for hybriding the famous type 2 neck connector head (or neck donut recs)? She's a beauty green, so I'm limited for resin matches and I'll be getting creative once she and her hybrid body get here. But I figure it's a good idea to ask for wisdom before I make any permanent changes to the doll lmfao. Thanks! I can't wait to share pics of my siblings together :D

    4. Why not both!? Hehehehe:XD: I definitely see that sweetness but yeah he also looks a little flirty! He's gorgeous! :love

    5. Congrats on the newcomer!
I have several hybrids that use these adaptors. If they happen to be a bit loose, it is nothing a bit of eye putty cannot fix.

    6. @Tonboko thank you so much! I'm glad to have a good review before I buy one.

    7. Congrats on your El, @malvinas! He's so handsome!

Oh congrats @Mamo on your NaNuRi! Do you have pics of her yet? Or a name?

Here's Feather in her new bunny hat I made recently!

    8. @SacredMonsoon She hasn't arrived yet, but i think she's going to be Vivienne! Her brother is Lasalle.
Feather's looking great in the cute new hat you made for her!

    9. @Mamo aw that's a pretty name! I can't wait to see her!!
Thank you! I've really gotten into crochet recently and have been creating lots of stuff!

It looks like Feather is ready for The Year of the Rabbit in that hat, @SacredMonsoon. :thumbup

    11. Hmmm.. what's everyone's thoughts on wiping my Soony's faceup? I bought her from here a few years ago (2015 ish?) and she still has her default faceup from Luts. I am sort of fenced on repainting her since she is such an old doll

    12. @SkyKitty061, I like her default face-up; it's so simple and natural, and a nice example of old-school Luts CP style. Looks good with how you've styled her. Just my two cents ;)

    13. @SkyKitty061 I have two with original faceups and that thought comes up sometimes. I've kept their originals so far, but I see other people's dolls with such fancy faceups and get jealous occasionally. I do worry though that if I change them, they won't feel like "themselves" to me. I don't know. I don't think there's an easy answer, both ways have appeal.

    14. SkyKitty061, your Soony is so sweet as she is!
If you aren't happy with her anymore, she's definitely your doll to update if you feel the need.
Me, I'd love her as she is...
I've redone faceup on a couple of dolls, a DoD Shall went from the factory original that she'd had about 8 years (the eyeliner detail was really beginning to bug me) to a pretty natural artist faceup. And then there was a week of recovery from the shock before I could settle down & like her new look....
The other was my second oldest doll, a Volks NoNo who had a simple faceup from her previous owner that was just always right...until I realized after 12 years that she was set off by herself a lot as that simple faceup didn't go with my other dolls. Also I kept wishing for another older Volks because my friend's dolls had such pretty faceups... Last year I bit the bullet, sent her away for a faceup by a local artist & then had to deal with that week of shock adjusting to how much she had changed...but now I'm really happy with her new look.

So sometimes it's worth it but just make sure your really dissatisfied with her current look, be really sure of the artist you're choosing to redo her & be aware that there is likely to be a bit of grieving or nostalgia to overcome while adjusting to her new look. (Although that gorgeous faceup malvinas posted the other day would sorely tempt me...)

      As to value, I wonder if most folks would care if she has the original faceup if you were to sell her. Among my too many Juri2005s, I am fortunate to have one with the factory original faceup along with the luxury of having the 3 others with 3 very different artist faceup. I guess one day I'll learn if the factory original faceup makes a difference or not. ;}

    15. I have to admit, I have eight dolls out of My Crew of 29 that have factory faceups, but not all of them are human or humanoid. Most of My Crew have faceups by third party artists, and for that, I am happy. Many of them are character dolls that I had a specific mental image of, so that is why its okay with me.

However, I wish that at least one of my 10 SD-sized Delf had a factory faceup. :...(:(

I feel that you are very lucky to have a doll with one. If I was you, I would keep her as is. She is beautiful and a classic. :3nodding::thumbup:love

But the choice is up to you, of course. She's your little beauty, after all.

In the meantime, everyone! Spam us pics of your Delf BJDs with factory faceups! :D

    16. Your soony is very pretty @SkyKitty061! I think the defaults are considered special now because they're rare! But its up to you!

      [IMG]DSC_0439~2 by Emily, on Flickr

Here's Feather with her default! The awful thing was, back when i got her in 2011, people criticized the default faceup but I loved it, I never ever plan to redo Feather's faceup, its still so nice and she turns 12 on February 15th!

    17. The only original faceup I have. Juri 2005 with the star over her right eye...

Since all of my Delfs were bought second hand it seems a lot of people went for replacing faceups (or else kept the dolls with original faceups)

    18. You do you, but I myself love the classic Delf style ... so much so that I have either sent heads to Luts for faceups or paid others to replicate the style on my secondhand heads.

    19. I wasn't gonna say anything, but just to balance things out I'm throwing in my vote for custom faceups :XD: Obviously it's a personal decision @SkyKitty061, but I think that custom faceups are absolutely magical. If you're into your dolls as characters or little pieces of art, I think custom faceups are the way to go! I always think of company faceups as more of a collector thing, along the lines of keeping a fullset together. At this point in time Luts faceups don't really make Delfs more valuable, though some people prefer them and they definitely help prove that the doll is legit. But as more and more owners wipe the default faceups, perhaps in the future a Luts faceup will add actual value. Just some things to consider.

Here's a picture of my Dark Elf Soos with their custom faceups! :thumbup

    20. Default face up already adds value as far as I'm concerned :XD: I have definitely been willing to pay more for the defaults.

I DO collect them but it's more to do with me feeling that the defaults have so much old school charm and character to them. I just love them a lot. They give me happy feelings!

I think you're very lucky to have a default Soony. It would be hard to find another one if you wiped it and did regret it. But of course she is your doll and you must do what is best for you to enjoy her.

(Any excuse to spam Blue )

(alright, this probably wasn't the best photo to pick with her hair over her face but it's cute so)
