1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Creature Doll! Armored Beauties ready for Adventure

Feb 26, 2017

    1. @skyealloway - I also have the Clam Bake pattern. I've only made the top so far (that's what I bought it for). Mine doesn't look as nice as yours, mainly because I didn't quite understand how it goes together. I made it for FID--I should probably try it on one of my Creature Dolls to see how it looks.

    2. Thank you! The top was confusing for sure. I even sewed the pants wrong several times (probably because I was like “I know how to put together pants!” And didn’t follow the instructions well).

Show us a picture of how yours turned out!

    3. I've tried twice to post a link but I can't get it to work. Here's the photo. Sorry if she's not a Creature Doll.

I took this pic on a very hot day last summer. The doll looks as frazzled as I felt at the time.

Which dress pattern did you buy?

    4. She’s beautiful! I like the colors of your outfit. You top looks good! I had to go look at my pattern, it’s Outlander Claire. I just now opened it up and started looking at it. Seems like it comes with a pattern for a panier as well!

In other news, I had a brilliant idea to make her hard cap wig stay on- I layered two silicone caps underneath! Just one wasn’t enough, but two and it’s a perfect non-slip snug fit!

    5. Okay, finally got around to getting some pics of the swords. Hope these are still useful to someone!
We don't have a photo-spam thread for this maker, do we? I know we're usually supposed to limit our photos in the discussion threads, but I don't know where else to put these at the moment.

...especially since these JIDs don't really belong here. Sorry!

    6. Ahhh thank you @Sianserais ! Lucia looks amazing in the Period Threads gown, :D I’ve been eyeing one of those. Lol that’s a lot of swords! I’m thinking about getting the skinnier long sword and knife, they look like a matched pair to me.

So I have those swords, the heel feet, black heels, the more closed hands, and the little black dress in my cart... but I kind of want to add the mei dress...and the limited Priestess dress.... and the red dress. :?:chomp:

    7. @skyealloway - I've been tempted to buy the Outlander Claire pattern, but I'm holding out for the Outlander Claire Fraser pattern currently available for Ellowyne Wilde (and probably some other sizes). I've made the Stargazer evening gown for my FID. I'll try it on Mei and see how it looks.

@Sianserais - I lost track of the photo spam threads after the big computer changeover. Now I can't find anything. I suppose someone could start a new thread in the Main Photo Gallery. It doesn't seem to fit the other categories.

Love your Lucia's gown!:love I have a pattern for a similar gown from Affordable Designs but it is absolutely the worst pattern I have ever used and resulted in a completely unwearable garment. I think this is the pattern Robyn (Period Threads) started with and had to redesign extensively.

    8. I know that feeling. This is why I keep joking that I should be worried about a coup - my resins have plenty of miniature weaponry. Technically, the blades are all different styles, but I agree those two should look good together.
And just a note - I did have to take her head off to get the dress on because her ears were going to poke holes in the fabric. Other than that, it fits nicely!

I wouldn't be surprised, she really seems to have a knack for that!
I know they moved the photo-spam threads into the Photo Reference section not that long ago, but most of them aren't getting much attention, and I don't think we ever had one for Creature Doll, unless I missed it.

    9. Photo Reference! If the threads there aren't getting attention, it's probably that people don't know where to look for them. Must admit it never occurred to me.

    10. Hey girls! I ordered two new wigs from Facets by Maria and the style “Navajo” looks great with her ears! The other style I got, alexia I think? Is ok but I fussed so long getting all the wispy bits on Navajo straight that I didn’t feel like taking it off lol
      Facets by Maria “Navajo”

    11. That is cute! Which reminds me, I bought a Navajo wig a while back for one of my other dolls that didn't end up working out. Shame it's too big for this girl.

    12. I also bought the Navajo wig for another doll, the same size as Creature Doll. Unfortunately, the braid started coming apart. I finally gave up trying to re-braid it. One of my other dolls is wearing it loose, which is a shame because I really like the braid.

    13. @Sianserais - I love the photo of your beautiful gal wearing the pale blue fantasy gown!!
Just a note about putting the gown onto a doll — it is meant to go onto the doll from the feet -
slip up over hips - slide the doll’s arms into the sleeves - and then pull up onto the shoulders.
The fabric is wonderfully stretchy and resilient so can go on/off many times easily. I am *so*
sorry that I didn’t make note of that to you when you got the gown, and that you had to
remove her lovely head to get it on....
(my web site does have directions for these gowns - under ‘Fit Models’ at the bottom of page)

@vermont chick - you are correct about the origin of this design - in about 2003/4 I bought
one of those patterns and quickly realized it needed lots of rework. Over the years I’ve redesigned
the pattern significantly and in multiple sizes, now the only remaining similarity is the number of gores!

Where ever do you get those *amazing* swords?? They are incredible!!

    14. I honestly didn't think it was going to go over her hips that way, but maybe next time. It really wasn't that much of a problem (if her ears weren't so sharp it would have been fine either way), but thanks for the info! I love the color on her, in any case. ^_^ And the swords are Creature Doll's creations too.

    15. Sorry for the double-post, but could anyone please tell me what orientation my photos above are appearing in for them? They're showing vertically for me, but it seems that might not be the case for all browsers.

    16. They're vertical for me.:thumbup

    17. @Sianserais - vertical for me in Firefox on the Mac laptop
—- horizontal in safari on the iPad

    18. @Sianserais your photos are always horizontal/sideways to me and kind of stretched out looking. I use my iPhone.

    19. Interesting. My photos are just standard JPG encoding, far as I can tell, so I wonder if it's something about the way LJ saves them or entirely a browser thing. Thanks for the info, all!

    20. I could have sworn someone else bought Creature Doll's new medieval gown but I don't see it. Mine arrived today, minus the ribbon to lace it up in back. Luckily I have narrow ribbon in every color--for just such an occasion. I also bought the deep gold wig with braided rounds, which looks the same as the Ariella wig sold by Facets. It doesn't stay on very well, however; I ended up giving mine to one of my Raccoons, who have a slightly smaller head.
