1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Curious, how many impulse dolls?

May 28, 2017

    1. I suppose it depends on what you consider "impulse!" If we're talking dolls that I did not actively plan to add to my collection at the time I purchased them, I'm up to 3 impulse dolls and 3 floating heads, which is about half of my collection. However, if we're talking dolls that came up for sale and I immediately sprung for without any forethought, I'm sitting at 1 doll and 2 floating heads.

I impulse bought more back when I was new in the hobby, usually due to FOMO, but those impulses largely did not work out and I moved them on at some point. Now, I'm much more resistant to FOMO, though it does still sneak up on me occasionally. I'm finding that my recent impulses are much more controlled and more in alignment with my existing collection and tastes, which improves the odds that they will work out nicely, which I believe has something to do with refining my taste over time.

    2. None yet! I try to be as intentional as possible before purchasing, since I tend to be very sentimental when it comes to ownership. But who knows, when the right doll comes, I might just jump the gun on it!

    3. I wouldn't be lying if I said all of my current dolls are impulse buys in one way or another  I don't shell pre-made characters and mostly shop second-hand so it'd be a bit tricky to pre-plan a lot; honestly the ones I spent more groundwork on beforehand never ended up being my absolute favourites, either. I don't know why - maybe something in them exhausts itself if I spend too long elaborating over it? Planning a lot just never makes me happy, I like a good surprise :sweat (within my $$$ limit of course)
