1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

D-Storic Bimong event: resin distortion

Apr 14, 2013

    1. Thanks for letting me know! I guess I will have to update my pictures and post them and *HOPE* they recognize my problem. I just felt so uneasy that they asked me for pictures again when I've been posting pictures with every inquiry. :(

    2. guls207, your case is much worse than mine. I'd be interested in new pictures to be honest.

chrissa5girl, congrats! Let's hope the replacement doll will hold up better :)

    3. Update: they want me to ship my Narae back to them. They want to have a closer look at her. I should probably tell them that I left her to green completely since I took my last pictures and that I've covered her in a golden shimmering blush LOL... I'm kinda nervous about all this.

    4. I think it will help if you tell them you left the doll to yellow evenly, because you didn't hear from them and felt you had to find a solution yourself. I think that will make it less likely they are going to object to your treatment of the doll.
But if they want you to ship the doll back, it may mean they want to replace the full doll. Fingers crossed.

    5. Thanks. I'm just gonna have to be honest about it.

Meh, I was so happy with the faceup I did too. I used the golden shimmer blush to fall back in love with my doll, but I think I'll use it on a new doll if I get one as well. I love the result <3

    6. Well, I got my girl's body today and it seems perfect but they didn't include a head back. Her original head back had warping before but I didn't send any pics of that because the Q&A only had a slot for 5 pictures. Plus they didn't send high heel feet so I'm hoping my original hh feet won't warp when I put them on her. Her resin color is a little pinker than her fp but I guess with blushing it will work. I'm just a little sad that I'm having a to piece together a doll with a warped head back and questionable high heel feet and slightly different resin color when that's NOT what I paid for.

    7. Last week Loca would reply to my emails every day, but I haven't heard anything anymore since I asked if I had to send them my faceplate as well, and if they will refund my return shipping...

    8. New Notice:

I got a response to my question when I asked if all the parts of my order will be replaced since they were all from the distortion batch:
-_- I really hope they replace all of it.

    9. I got a new reply from Loca too! They wanted me to ship the body back, remember? Well, now they're saying I don't have to send it back, they'll replace my order..!! :D

    10. AWESOME news! I'm so glad you don't have to spend even MORE money shipping it back!

I do wonder though, what are we supposed to do with the bad resin dolls? Does anyone know the proper way of disposing of them? I'd rather not try to use the boiling water method and contaminate my family's kitchen with toxic resin. :shudder

    11. I may sound like a hypocrit but I'm not gonna get rid of mine. The warping and damage and stuff isn't bad enough for that. I'm still gonna try and make the best of her. In fact I'm restringing her right now with a new faceup. I'll cover the swollen wrist and extreme yellowing/greening with a long dress with long sleeves... I'm not sure if keeping her would be bad for my health :-\

    12. I know some people have reported respiratory problems and skin reactions to the bad resin so I'd be careful. :(
I honestly have no clue what to do with it. T_T I haven't had any problems but I've had the doll in a box since January.

    13. I haven't had any problems like that at al so far.. :/

    14. Sorry for double-posting, but I just received an email from Loca. They will be shipping a full new doll to me, not just a body. The only thing they won't ship is the metal piece on the headback, if I want the new doll to have one I'll have to take it off the old one and glue it onto the new doll.

      *happy*!!!!!!!!!

    15. Just an update: neither guls207 or I ever received a replacement doll. D-Storic seems to have vanished completely. More info in the waiting room linked above.

    16. Just confirming that I did NOT receive my doll (thanks Evelien <3 ).

    17. I have a few D'Storic Naraes...some are french tan and one is urethane tan and I don't believe any of them have faded like that...I haven't exposed any of them to the sun but most of my girls were second hand so not sure what happened before I received them. I can't imagine what would even the tone out?

    18. WOW, that is dramatic uneven fading :(

What month/year was she made? Is she Korean resin or French resin?

My D-Storic girls and boy are a bit older than ones produced during the resin-issue time period (although two are from *right* before people started having issues), and I have four NS Korean resin, one WS Korean resin (Solmi), and one tan French resin.

They're all okay -- but I keep most of my dolls in light-controlled conditions (a room with a blackout curtain, or a room that doesn't get direct sunlight, although there is indirect light and incandescent light.)

I do have an older (pre-D-Storic) French resin girl who has faded unevenly (her chest and face are different colors), although since I got her secondhand, I don't know how much light exposure she had before she came to me. She wasn't remarkably faded when I got her in 2011, though.

I think that the best thing you can do, honestly, is try to figure out whether you want to keep that face-up, and if so, look into getting her body airbrushed lightly in a matching color. Yes, it may scuff a little around the joints, but since the underlying color is similar, it shouldn't be too noticeable.

I'd definitely go with an experienced artist -- you don't want a heavy-handed paint job. And make sure everything is sealed with MSC UV-protect, to minimize further fading.

So sorry that your beautiful girl has experienced this issue!! :/
