1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

D-Storic Bimong event: resin distortion

Apr 14, 2013

    1. Please, SwivelChair show us some photos of your girl. I'm very interested in know the Yellow Ivory skin warping.

    2. O2tina, Chrissa5 has reported the defect to D-Storic and she will get a replacement. Afaik, they did not ask her to send the warped doll back. Souldoll paid for the warped doll to be shipped back, which is how it should be. They wanted to inspect the doll, and they sent it to their resin supplier.

Derilan85, it seems to be able to happen to all resin types. The warped Souldoll order was in white skin. If the supplier mixes the resin wrongly, the casting company won't know it until they notice defects on cast dolls being packaged or receiving face-ups. Or, when they are notified by customers. As D-Storic now knows about Chrissa5's doll, I find it worrysome they don't put out a notice. Souldoll didn't either. They seem to be treating the issue case by case, but there will be more dolls affected. Maybe it's a marketing strategy to not worry all customers, but in fact, everyone who receives a doll from D-Storic has to worry now. And it's unsafe. I don't want to receive a doll and handle her with gloves and mask on, to wait for defects, then wait for a replacement.

    3. Does anyone know if the heads are made from the same batch of resin as the bodies?

Hugs to all those having problems. I saw the Souldoll issue on the other thread, and i was shocked about that. So horrible to hear it's happening somewhere else. :aheartbea

    4. In the Souldoll case, the head was made from a different batch, so it's indeed possible for a head or a body to show resin defects, with the rest of the doll being unaffected. I have requested D-Storic to cancel my order, as I'm not willing to invest this much in a first bjd purchase. It will take a while for the cancellation to take effect, and I'm interested in how dolls are made in general and what problems may occur, so I will keep at this thread for now. 8-)

    5. Right, after my sister showed me this, I ran and checked my Bimong Dandelion who has been in a box since I received her. (Her head is off getting a faceup....).

When I first recieved her (Feb 24th), I obviously took her out the box, stood her up straight, admired the body.
This time, I took her out the box and tried to stand her up straight.
First thing I noticed, she wouldn't stand up straight with all the joints in the right place. I had to have her legs in an odd position almost leaning the body forward. Hopefully the picture below shows what I mean:

If I put all the joints into the position they should naturally be in, she leans back.

I've also noticed, a dimple in her leg. Hopefully the picture below shows it up?

This could be me just worrying due to all the other people with problems.....She's not "warped" but i'm worried. I have now stood her up to see if there are any other problems before I contact D-storic. I just thought i'd put these pics here to see if there are any other people with similar issues.

    6. I'd contact D-Storic about it if I were you, because that dimple could a "soft resin dent". Do you know when your doll was shipped?

    7. She was shipped on the 12th of Feb 2013!!

    8. Does anyone know how long D-Storic is allowed to cast Bimong's dolls?
Say for instance we notice our dolls start warping in 6 months time, will they even be able to replace them?

    9. Mawi, I added you to the list and have marked your order as defective if you don't mind. Just for a complete overview of issues per resin type/shipping date.

    10. Mawi
the photographs that I left above shows that my doll is the same.

    11. I edited the first post of this thread to describe all defects that my occur due to the wrong resin mix ratio. If I forgot anything, please mention it and I will edit again.

    12. As she's been laying in a box since I got the body, I am going to leave her standing up for a while (a mission on it's own as I have cats who run into everything), to see if there is any change in the legs/back. I am actually really worried about it as I adore this doll....even though she has no faceup yet. The colour of her resin is stunning and just as i'd imagined. The dimple on her leg was 100% not there before though and she could stand a lot better than this :(

    13. no black spots, a defect of the camera

    14. The list so far:

30 March* yellow Korean Ivory - resin problems

      * arrival date
      ** with face up

    15. Mawi,
my Korean Ivory Dandelion has the same issues, and even a dimple in her leg, so I thimk it is just how was made a master model. She can not stand properly from the very beginning, and now it is a bit worse, because resin is polishing itself inside the joints =)

    16. Quenthel, do you mean it's a mould issue and not a resin distortion issue?

    17. Rosinha,

Yes, I think so, because my Dandellion had this issues right out the box, and she is not warped at all, I have checked many times, because I was worried. But she is solid and fine, so I think it can be just the mould issue, the same dimple on the leg, the same standing problems.

    18. Mawi's dimple appeared later on, though. I'm just wondering if I should remove these issues from the resin deformation list, or that they may be part of it.

    19. Hmmmm interesting. Is the dimple in the same place as mine? If so, i'd lean towards it being just the master mold. (Which makes me feel slightly better). Maybe the fact there has been problems with the resin is making us look for things we may not have noticed before?

    20. OK, I will take the Dandelion issues off the list for now, just for clarity.
