It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. D-Storic Bimong event: resin distortion

Apr 14, 2013

1. I think it works that way yes. I checked my Narae's thoroughly as well. Since I have three and they are all exactly the same I know nothing has changed but if I had only one I might have wondered about her wrists or how her feet hang in the air as she sits with her legs flat on the ground, two things other people have described as well. I wonder if it might be an idea to post photo's of the smaller, less-obvious distortions of the dolls as well, or even just photo's of unchanged dolls so people have something to compare it to with when they check over their doll.

I am happy for you that your Dandelion might not be distorted after all btw, that must be a big relief.

2. Mawi,

Yes, the dimple is in the same place, and has the same shape, this why I thought about master model imperfections =) If you will look closer at left leg, you will see, that it is more curved, than her right one. I was scared, when I saw one on mine, but I have found promo photo of Dandellion, and her leg there also is curved. So I think this is master model imperfecton too O_o

3. It's a big relief if it isn't resin deformation! :) What can be done about the posing, or is it just something that has to be worked with as is?

4. hello, is anybody else experiencing deformation on the face or only the bodies (mine is KR real, shipped on the march 27th). also, nobody talks about the strong resin smell and skin irritation issue, do the warped dolls have a strong small? can you all check? I put mine in a box and I don't want to touch her.
D-storic still didn't replay me. and now to think how I wanted to cancel her but they didn't replay my massages on time and shipped her anyway. I am worried they will ignore our mails as well. did anyone got replies from them about the resin problems?

5. Malvina- I see you wrote to them around the 15th-

How long should a customer have to wait to hear back? If they aren't writing to you all, what is the next step? Contact Paypal, or is it too late? a lawyer? Wonder if DOD has any lawyers on board... Did anyone end up using a lawyer during the Katrina incident?

6. If you paid by credit card, you can try calling your CC company for more information. Paypal won't do much for you after the 45 days window, although you can still ask if they want to register a complaint.
If I recall correctly some people who ordered at CustomHouse managed to get their dolls/money after they contacted a South Korean organisation for customer protection or something like that.
Meanwhile I hope D-storic is planning on posting a message on their website soon so that people know what's going on. These is all problems that can be fixed, but without communication people feel like they have to act on their own.

7. Is it this: http://www.kca.go.kr/front/english/coun_05.jsp? I tried twice to submit an inquiry, but I got error messages both times. Would be nice if they could contact D-Storic and ask for a general notice on their site about the resin problems. In case my doll will ship (or has shipped w/o notice) I'd like to know the chances of the doll being defective.

8. I remember having an issue with dollfair and paypal replied at the time, that they collect several complaints against the same company, and only than act. I think if it will get worse, and we don't hear from D-storic, we can decide to send a joined complaint to paypal. we have to be coordinated about this, all of us, and not act individually. But still, for now I hope D-storic will replay. I sent them a mail on the 15th, still no answer by now. If anyone hears from them please update ^^

9. also I wanted to share my problem, cause no one wrote still about head deformations or bad resin smell, or skin burning when you touch you dolls....

I have to apologies cause I used a photo on the upper right corner by someone I don't know the source. so if you recognize your photo and want me to remove it, please let me know... also, they are all n406, on the left my narae, on the right the way she should have been. I fell inlove with her mouth, this is why I ordered her in the first place...

so this is what going on with my girl...
1. Her mouth is defected; there is a big gap between the two lips, as if the lower lip is missing some volume and is strange looking like it was bit off. I look at so many pictures of narae's and the lips look different. I wanted her to be without the teeth, but it really looks strange. The lower lip hangs too low. It seems like all the other naraes have thicker low lip and the gap between the lips is much smaller. also there is a "bitten" resin shape on the lower lip. I am afraid to take her out again and see if it got even worse.

2. There is some shiny polish on the forehead and the rest of the head is matt, the head and the cap are different shade of tan, and the top of the forehead has some polished or scratched lighter cloudy shade. It is hard for me to pick it up with my camera. Was it sprayed with something and then polished somehow, I don't really understand what happened to it.

3. She has a very strong small of resin and when I touch her my skin is itching and burning. I have many BJD's and never had that before, I am afraid to touch her.

4. also there is a slight difference between her eyes, one is a bit bigger, but I think this is minor compare to the other problems.

10. Malvina, I can understand your disappointment -- it looks like the mold has lost detail over time (possibly through overuse), and that has resulted in erosion of the mouth area. While it's hard to compare face-up/no-face-up shots, especially from different angles, I agree with you that something looks wrong with her mouth.

Can anyone else with an N406 take a from-below shot like this to see if this is a factory error?

The cloudy spots are probably "gate marks" from where the mold was poured -- those are normally visible on darker-resin dolls, because sanding off the "gates" (the sprues that resin is poured into) leaves a lighter area on a tan/dark-skinned doll. Some of my tan dolls have this issue in a visible place, and I remember the beautiful tan Dollshe Bermanns having a very visible lighter scratched area on top of their shoulders and foreheads, because that's where the resin had been sanded.

So, I wouldn't worry too much about the matte/shiny issue (a coat of MSC would fix it anyway), but your concern about the mouth shape, and about the odor/irritation, are certainly worth looking into further.

11. Malvina, the smell and irritation sound most scary to me. I would like to see a shot from below on another n406 too - wasn't there someone else who recently got a n406? Maybe it doesn't have a face up yet, making it easier to compare. Could the sculpt have changed, the mouth being more open than before?

I also ordered n406, thinking it was closest to the closed mouth of the n416. I can't believe that my order involved the n416 change, the resin change, the n406 issues, delay by recasting and maybe the warping as well because I chose yellow Korean Ivory. There are 9 flawless pink Korean Ivory dolls in our list, none with problems, and 1 yellow one, with problems.

12. I am thinking if this is a mold problem all others have to have the same mouth, so if anyone got 406 at this event and can compare mouth shape it will be great, still, mold or not it is really ugly, I don't think my picture shows it well enough. I really researched naraes before I ordered, this is not the doll I expected.

as for the gate marks, why does it have to be in such a noticeable place? this is strange, and what if the MSC won't cover the color difference, is that suppose to be ok? I really don't understand it, cause I pay more on a tan head, and than it is in a lower quality than the cheaper heads? I admit this is my first tan doll, so I am not aware of this happening. if this is a standard thing, than tan dolls should be cheaper than NS and not more expensive...just a suggesting, I know no one will take it seriously ^^

and yes, the smell and the skin irritation is the biggest problem, cause my doll is in the box and I don't take her out. as if I never got her. just waiting again for D-storic.

13. You could try Yiuu and NY_Kitty. Some of the people in the waiting list that ordered n416 may have changed to n406 after the face plate change became known, w/o correcting it in the list. There was at least one, but I don't remember who it was. Maybe search the waiting room thread?

14. D-Storic is, or has been, answering messages today. I saw they replied to someone called Татьяна about "problems with the material". They did not respond to my link to this thread.

15. The posted a notice regarding the problems here though!

16. Dear Customers,

Weeks ago, we were informed of our recent batch of dolls' resin warping problem.
We tried our best to find the cause of this problem for weeks and found out that
the problem was caused because of our mixing ratio was off.

In order to speed up the production process, we hired new staffs.
Our newest staff made a mistake with the mixing ratio with resin when he produced dolls.
We came to find out that only 5 dolls were made from this batch of resin.
All 5 dolls were of real colored skin, so if you ordered ivory or white colored dolls, you don't have anything to worry about.

It took us a long time to find the cause and it created delays in our production line.
Because we found the problem, we are now back to our normal production.

We thank all our customers for great patience and would like to assure our customers
that dolls other than from this batch won't have this problem.

We were also asked what it means when we tell customers that we put "a star" next to their order.
Whenever we receive inquiries regarding assigned shipment date, resin color changes
or any other notes regarding order, we put stars next to these orders to let our staffs know of the change.
It does not mean that we work on these orders first and ship them out before other orders.
We work on all orders in the order they were received.

In case some orders were shipped before other earlier orders it is because of one of these three reasons.
(1) Orders of single items or heads (not full dolls.)
(2) Orders with faceplates which have less number of orders.
(3) When our customers ask for change in their order's skin color after we have already completed their dolls, we send the completed dolls to next customers who ordered the same dolls.

We're currently working on replying to all messages on our Q&A board.
Once again, thank you for your patience.

______________________________________________________________________________

That accounts for all 5 coloured resin issues mentioned on DoA! Just not for Swivelchair's issue, but maybe there is another explanation for that? In my case, that means I would only have had to worry about the n406 mould. Malvina, did you post on their message board already about your issues? Good chance they will read it today.

eta I found a picture of NY_Kitty's n406:

17. Malvina --
I just got a 408 head (eyes nearly closed) in Korean Real resin and the mouth on my doll looks almost exactly like yours. I haven't had time to take pictures but I studied yours closely. When I hold my doll at the same angles as your photos (and even the painted photo), they look the same. The sculpt of the mouth is identical and I like it, so I'm OK with that.

What I do notice about yours though is that the opening into the mouth does look messier than mine. What you call the "bites." There are creases sculpted into the lower lip but it looks like yours is more uneven than mine. I can't say for sure, but I think that when they cleaned out the mouth opening, they did a messy job. If you look at their picture on the lower right in your post, you can actually see there that the lower lip has notibable indentions -- yours are more pronounced though and I don't think they should be like that. I think that if those weren't there, you would like the mouth sculpt.

Your faceup artist can probably smooth it out but you should contact D-Storic and get them to exchange the head for a new one. DEFINITELY get it exchanged if the resin is funky. If you can't get them to replace it, see what a good faceup artist can do -- I'm certain a good painter can make it look great but there is no point in painting it beautifully if the resin itself is bad.

So, you're not crazy, there is something not right about the mouth, but the shape itself is how the sculpt is made. If you go to Flickr and do a search for "Narae 406" and "Narae 408" you'll see some pictures of dolls with the same mouths as ours. They just have tidier lower lips than your girl.

Good luck!!! Let us know what D-Storic says.

Robbin

18. RobbinA - well, I actually did researched 406 and 408 a great deal before I ordered her, cause I couldn't make up my mind which of the two to get, and I have to say, the mouths of all the 406-408 naraes I saw are nothing close to the mouth of mine. I am my own faceup artist, I also have great eye for details. if yours are like mine I believe yours have a problem too, but, if you like it like this, I am happy for you. I really don't like it. I could definitely add epoxy if she was not in tan color. I don't want to paint her after I paid 20$ extra for the tan skin, and also I won't be able to sell her in the future. not only that, of course there is the resin problem which prevents me to do anything with her. I don't even take her out of the box.
I would love to see a photo of your girl to compare.

Rosinha - thank you for the photo, no, mine does not look like this !!! this is the mouth I wanted, and the angle is good enough to compare.
and I did not leave a massage on the board, I wrote them a mail, they still didn't answer my last massages on the board since February, so I thought I shouldn't bother to post there. maybe now that they said they are answering the board, I should post another massage there as well.

if anyone else has pictures of 406-408 but maybe without faceup, it will be great :)

19. malvina -- Here are some pictures of my girls. The 408's mouth is similar to yours. The 404 (open eye) has a more pursed mouth, and the Dreamer has a closed mouth. I hope these are helpful.

20. Glad to hear that D-Storic found out what caused the resin problems and have sorted it out. So it seems that 5 dolls in Korean Real have to be made again along with the other resin problem dolls?
