1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

D-Storic Bimong event: resin distortion

Apr 14, 2013

    1. Hmm, no, I don't think she's soft at all, her clothing hasn't done anything to her, but I also haven't TRIED to dent\bend her in any way either... I'd think nothing had happened if her ankles weren't so DIFFERENT! I KNOW they've changed shape, and I'm at least pretty sure her wrist has changed as well, but again, that's it. The rest of her legs seem to be fine as well. She can still stand perfectly well. Honestly, if I can string her tighter without further warping, I may end up continuing to use the body, since her posability hasn't been greatly affected. But again, that's only if I can safely say she's not toxic or anything... She doesn't FEEL uncured to me, I guess, and she clearly isn't having the SAME problem as the other warped dolls! What is happening!? *_*

    2. I would think twice about restringing...if you have a potential warping problem, the tension through re-stringing would cause
it to warp further i would think..... especially on ankles and wrists

    3. If the resin is uncured, it's best to know for sure as it is toxic. You can't use the doll then anyway, so it doesn't matter if it warps more.

    4. I agree with Rosinha. Resin that isn't properly cured won't magically start to cure. The chemicals to finish the process just aren't there. Stringing the doll tighter (but not so tight it would damage a normal doll) under room temperature is probably the best way to find out if the resin is okay or not when there's no skin irritation or odd smell. Take clear before and after pictures to help you figure out if anything changed.
There's a chance the resin is cured properly, but the resin was cast a bit thin or was exposed to heat and warped under pressure. In that case the resin should take its original form when put in hot water and it should be safe to handle. Just string the doll not so tight afterwards to avoid warping again. But first do a string test to see if it warps more to rule out uncured resin as the problem.

    5. So, okay, It's been almost a week since I restrung her pretty darn tight. She isn't showing any further warping so far. I think she might be okay after all, and the ankles\wrist issue will just be a mystery.

    6. It's been 3 weeks since I contacted them about my warped doll and no response. They mentioned that they identified the 5 people who got the warped dolls but I seriously think they might have underestimated that number. I got her a gorgeous faceup and everything and now I have to look for another body to hybrid her.

    7. Swivelchair, that's great!

Guls207, why do you think there are more warping bodies? I mostly see the same people repost on the Q&A board about body problems. There are 6 different names posting about body problems. I'm not entirely sure if one of the bad body problems isn't about something else to do with the body.

    8. I'm still unsure whether or not my Narae is really suffering from warping. Her left wrist seems bulgy but maybe that's normal? Her legs are still fine.

(-edit- I sent D-Storic an email to check if my girl's body was from the warping batch, but they never replied)

    9. Well it's mostly because there is a chance that some of the people d-storic identified as getting distorted dolls already were contacted and had replacements sent to them. There is also a chance that some of the people they identified is not on our list of 5 people. It's just the probability of them not fully taking everyone into account that's bothering me, and not what they necessarily did/are doing.

I'm at a loss for what I should do about my poor girl. :( I'm thinking of getting another body and making a hybrid out of one of the heads. If d-storic sends me a replacement body, the 2nd head can go on that, but it may take a while if it even happens.

    10. I definitely think they should have contacted the 5 warping doll owners of their own accord. I think their lack of communication makes things a lot worse than they are. It's very likely they will replace all defective dolls eventually, but it will take a long time. Will they send you a new head also if the head doesn't warp? Or just a body? It's possible the head was made from a different batch.

O2Tina posted this link to a blog about visiting D-Storic: http://absatz.diary.ru/p187959827.htm?oam#more1 It shows Day Kim has all the communication to do, and face-ups, and managing the office on her own.

    11. Wow thanks for sharing that! I also agree that it's the lack of communication that's scaring people. It's been a month since my fist attempt to contact them. I hope that they manage to put up a notice or something. :(

    12. I agree. I'm perfectly fine with waiting, but not knowing if they're making progress or even shipping out anything is really frustrating. It's been almost a month since their last notice, and I can only hope that it means they've been working really hard at finishing the dolls. ._. I've been waiting for 20 weeks and I know there must be people who have been waiting longer.

    13. Someone in the Waiting Room counted the names on the Q&A with mentions of body problems. I made a list, and I'm sorry if it hurts members' privacy, but I kindly ask everyone to cooperate, since the resin problem creates so much anxiety for people who ordered a Bimong doll. The resin thread was started to pinpoint the problems so the anxiety and insecurity about ordering/owning a Bimong doll would be reduced as much as possible.

Tatiana: toxic head (resin burns skin and smells strongly) and possible warping or misshaped mouth (O2Tina)
      Noo1: Resin deformation (Malvina)
Vitalina: body problem order Dec 6th (? not Swivelchair)
Yulia: Defect doll/Replacement (? not Swivelchair)
      Guls207: resin deformation
Cecilia: Crack in knee joint order Dec 4th (Oddfrantic, not warping)
DH: Bad Body Problem order Nov 13th (Chrissa5girl, warping)
Nandinee: Warping problem (double name of one of the other warping doll owners on DoA)

The warping doll owners on DoA are: Malvina, Guls207, Chrissa5, possibly Evelien. Swivelchair's doll has a bulgy wrist and ankle on one side, but the body isn't warping. She ordered Korean Ivory on Dec 28th. We have three definite warping dolls, so Vitalina and Yulia could be the other two.

Again, I'm sorry I'm scrutinising the message board, but we on DoA are the only ones who can help eachother with the very long waiting list. For example, it would be very helpful to delete repeated messages on the Q&A board. There is only 1 person from D-Storic reading them, and the shorter the list, the faster she can translate and answer. Also, feel free to rant and vent in this thread, instead of on D-Storic's message board. It will help to keep messages short for Day Kim (the person reading the messages). This will help all of us. It's definitely not our fault that D-Storic lacks in communication, but in a practical sense, this is the only thing we can do to speed up the process.

Evelien, have your tried tight stringing like Swivelchair, to see if your doll has soft resin?

    14. Nope, I haven't. I'm starting to think it's just me and that the bulgy wrist is normal..? Come to think of it, I never posted a pic. Perhaps you can reassure me that Narae's bulgy wrist is normal and that I have nothing to worry about.

    15. Evelien, that looks about right. The left wrist is a bit chubby on all Naraes and depending on the position it might look a bit warped, when it isn't.

    16. Thanks. The thing is, my doll's body was made in the same time range that the warping bodies were made. As soon as you know about that, you start to wonder if the bulgy wrist was that way from the start.. and I couldn't really tell from older pictures so I wasn't sure.

    17. It looks like the resin is thinner on the wrists, but not much difference between left and right. Maybe Swivelchair can compare her doll's wrist to yours and it's similar? We know now that D-Storic works with small batches of resin and some dolls were shipped out around the same date and in the same resin colours, that were OK. I'm glad you doll seems to be safe, Evelien! :) That does leave one person with a warping doll that is not on DoA. So it could be Yulia or Vitalina. I saw Yulia posted about a replacement. Or it's a Korean buyer. At least the message board is not being flooded by replacement requests because of bad dolls.

    18. There is an obvious difference between left and right in real life, the left is bulgier and the resin is thinner. But as Yenna said that's probably normal ^^

    19. It is really hard to gauge from just pictures but I'm not sure she isn't a bit more bulgy then my girl either. I'm trying to find an angle in which my girl would have that shine that conveys a rounded surface in the same way your girl has but it is really hard to tell.

I know you will go to Dolliverse Evelien, shall I take one of my girls as well so you can compare them side-to-side?

    20. Yes please!
