Dark Castle Doll Discussion...

Mar 14, 2007

    1. they're amazing.
but...haha...even though i like a certain level of creepy...
...something about them freaks me out like crazy...
i guess its because they're so thin and tall?
      not sure.

      but anyway. they're gorgeous.
i just couldnt live with them. :p

    2. Hmm I wouldn't have any problems to let one of them live in my home,I have more problems with the resin (I think it is fimo-clay or sculpey?) and I'm a person who's not very carefull with things sometimes :( And I promised myself to have only ONE doll :blush

    3. Huh what a creepy monsters! :aeyepop:
I sure think that they are in some way awsome but still so scarry! I would have (serious) problems living with one so in my case I would not buy any of them. In the evenin my imagination might get a little too wild...
      But still interesting idea though.

    4. Fimo and sculpey are not resin. ^_^;; Resin is a two-part liquid compound that is poured into molds and it chemically hardens into a plastic-like material. Batchix did mention that this resin is different from other doll resin, but it's not a polymer clay.

      I'm surprised so many people find them scary... I think they are quite endearing. ^_^;

    5. OMG :o didn't know! Very tempting to have one then *cries in the corner because there's no chance for that* Thanks for expanation,it helps a lot ;)

    6. On a strictly emotional level, they really creep me out; but on an artistic level I think they're brilliant...you have a wonderfully original and imaginative mind. Good luck to you and I am looking forward to seeing your future projects.

    7. i must be twisted then, everyone else seems to find them creepy, but i don't.....
      I still love 'em.
if only they were doing layway ROFL

    8. Going to pop on and answer a few questions before I run away again to get to work... :whee:

Yes, they're resin! They're a urethane resin, same as teh other bjd, but the resin I use is much much more dense in feeling. They're also harder to break.

      I'm a little suprised by how a lot of people think they're really creepy, but at the same time not? XD I find victorian baby dolls to be the creepiest things ever, so dolls that are /supposed/ to be creepy don't bother me. Usually I'm like, "But they just want love!" Which explains Freddie, my godzilla knock off toy. I got him for my birthday when I was 10 and I remember telling my mom, "But no one would love him like I would!" and sixteen years later he still is here. o.o;;;

As for layaway, that's something I'll be looking at in the future. :3

Okay~ back to work on the next head for me. he's sitting on my desk looking ANGRY. He wants to be sanded and finished!

    9. I totally agree that they're amazing on an artistic/technicality level
However, I'm not really fond of them on the emotional level.
      They look anorexic to me.
      As much as I like vampiric/inhuman images..... I don't like anorexic images:sweat

    10. now layaway would be great!! I love the white timmian, beautiful sculpt and so different, I see him all poetic and open shirted and barefoot ( and some pants!)

I would love one, but i have jsut bought two dolls so no pennies for me for a long time- lovely work!

    11. Absolutely unique dolls, Batchix. They look so Real!!! Chucky's older brothers, perhaps??? I wish you well on your sales, you definately have something new going on.

    12. hey littlepinkfaery, you run away with the white one, i'll run away with the grey one ROFL ;)

I don't know why i like these so much, i find victorian dolls and ones with teeth REALLY creepy, o and those eyes that open and close *shudder*

    13. maggot, it's a deal!!!!

I hate those ones too, the really shiny ones with hair that looks like it came off an old carpet! gah! Still I have a new Blythe and that creeps the hell out of my hubby!

That white one has stolen my heart!

    14. I love creepy myself! That's one reason why I like dolls. So seeing a Zombieish BJD's is really cool! I don't think they look anorexic, just D-E-A-D..... :) I bet they's look really good in long, raggedy stringy hair and cheescloth type wraped clothes............ sigh.

    15. I agree, they are supposed to look dead not healthy! I think they look better than some of the 'alive' boys who are way too skinny!

    16. i love their noses and mouths and the face-up, to die for ;)

    17. we could go on couldn't we! I love the nose, so long and big- I like big noses! ad yep, that face up is beautiful..AHHHH! what can I sell, what can I sell...oh yep, nothing to earn that much-darn!

    18. I've said it so many times, but I'm so enchanted with these dolls. I love that crooked smile, and that uber-stylized body. I am so excited to see every new boy she introduces, even if I can't ever afford any of them. XD; Even on layaway... ha...

I don't think he's at all scary! I'd buy him up in a heartbeat. :3

    19. To me, they're the creepy as in so-creepy-you-can't-look-away-they-just-want-a-hug. XD They're fascinating nonetheless and definitely unique!

I want to see the gray Timmian with stitches on his face, maggots, and black blood oozing, rising up from an old grave. The ultimate photo shoot for this doll!
