1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dealing with FOMO?

Nov 8, 2023

    1. When it comes to limited dolls I only get that fear of missing out if something I have wanted for a very long time that got re-released, because I wanted it forever. If it's a sale I feel it more, and if it's a doll I wanted for awhile, and it's a limited in-stock sale, it's going to be pretty hard for me to pass up. On both of these instances, I usually just buy the doll, because I wanted said doll for a long time and the opportunity to either finally purchase it, or get an amazing deal on it is right there.

I don't really feel this toward new releases that I haven't wanted for awhile. I think a lot of limited release dolls are absolutely gorgeous, but I don't fear missing out on them because before I saw them a few minutes ago I didn't know they existed and I didn't want them. Same thing if I am cruising the second hand market. If I see the sale or bid at a great price I might think at first I want it, and fear missing out, because someone else is going to grab it.

      But then I ask myself:
Did I really want this new release or second hand doll before I saw it? Yes / No
Was I looking on getting another doll of this gender and size? Yes / No
Have I made plans to get this doll, or a doll like it, of similar aesthetics? Yes / No
Will this doll replace the doll I was planning on getting? Yes / No
Have I slept on it? Yes / No

If all the answers are yes, then I will probably get the doll, if the answers are no, I tell myself to let it go, I don't need it. sometimes just sleeping on it lets you know if you are making a mistake by getting the doll.

I admit, it was a lot harder for me in the beginning to pass up dolls, but now that I am satisfied with what I posses, I have gotten a lot better a resisting all the pretty dolls that slip though my fingers.
