Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Did how many dolls you plan to have change?

Jun 26, 2008

    1. Yes, definitely. I didn't want more than 10 dolls when I started collecting. Now I have no more plans at all regarding the number of my dolls^^

    2. initially i wanted just a couple ( the main characters of one of my stories) now the list is as long as 16 >_> ....i am not sure though if i'll get them all, some are MUST have, and some i really like, iam not in a rush to get them, so we'll see. so far the list hasn't changed, it has just gotten bigger that's all lol

    3. I was planning to have 3. I already have the 3 I originally wanted plus a floating head. If God permits when I get my floating head a body next year I will have 4 and I want another one after that. I only want five now and I want and hope to stick with that number :)

    4. I don't even have any BJDs yet, but already somehow the number I can see myself having keeps creeping up.
When I first started looking at them, I thought I might like just one, and it would have a developed little character and be spoiled rotten... but now the idea of two seems much better, after all, one would get lonely... but then again, the RealPuki Ara mould looks so cute...
      *falls down the slippery slope*

    5. i planned on getting just a few of each type of doll i like... LOL..... RIGHT! that number is joke now...

    6. I used to think I'd stop at about four or five, though I had just one doll for quite a few years. My collection is now 12 strong and I'm fond of each and every one of them. I won't say that I've stopped, but I'm definitely slowing down at the moment.

    7. Initially I thought I would just own a couple of boys, and would be content. Then my mother bought me a girl, and I realized that they were really helpful with my character development so I've quickly given up any set limits as far as price/amount. Now the only limit I keep to is that I have to be in love with the sculpt, so I shouldn't buy a doll if I only like it.

    8. :XD: My plans changed from owning one...to owning two. /brick'd

    9. I never really planned a serious number, but I refused to put more than 8 on my wishlist when I first started... after I cut it down. Then I changed to 12, then 16, and now I just don't care. I've got 14 dolls, and I always knew I'd have a lot of them. I've always had at least one collection of a specific type of doll, for as long as I can remember. When I got into BJDs, I knew I was going to have more than one. Potentially more than 10. Okay, definitely more than 10. I tend to get what I want, so even though the price scared me, I knew how much I wanted multiple dolls, and it just sort of... failed to stop me. I think of them now as little investments, money tucked away in a physical form for a rainy day. They aren't an emergency fund, so much as a I need to come up with x amount in a few months time fund. In the meantime, I enjoy the hell out of them.

    10. I always thought I would only have one bjd but now I have a bunch. They seem to multiply. :)

    11. Oh man, did it ever. XD;

First I thought I only wanted one. Which, when my DZ boy took ages to get to me, I wound up losing hope that he'd arrive and wound up falling in love with the limited Doll-Leaves Noir when I saw the Junkyspot newsletter. So I wound up buying him. He arrived, and a few days later, so did my Dollzone boy, lol.

Then I bought a HZ GuHu with a specific character in mind - he had other ideas.

I wound up buying a DZ Tan Yuu because I really wanted to bring that character into resin. The Yuu actually worked.

Then I ordered an IS doll. Again with a specific character in mind, only to have the doll go in a different direction, but this time, there wasn't this urge to find a different shell for the doll and to just work with what I've been given.

Then I ordered an Iplehouse Mari. Because I really need girls.

      And then DoD Azera.

And now I have my eye on Crobidolls' Rumi.

But. I'm thinking that I'll call it a break from buying after Rumi. And just go all out on giving her a faceup and outfits and spoiling her rotten. Along with working on my current ongoing projects.

    12. Before I bought my first two (which I still have yet to open), I figured I'd maybe have 2 or 3...just a small number of them. But now...I see so many that I really want that I just don't know! I want to have a whole little family of them now. ^-^ I guess I'll just stop when I stop. lol

    13. Eh, yes. . .
When I first started this hobby, I thought 4-5 dolls was quite a lot and thought that is where I would stop my collection. I had a few, specific characters in mind and did not think I would want to shell any others- or that I could shell them. I knew some people had many more than 5, but I saw that as something not usual and not something I would have the money, space, time, or interest to do.
Well, I started to want many more of my characters shelled and kept coming across new dolls that looked so much like them, I had to have them. I also picked up a couple of dolls I just wanted without a character in mind.
I think the second number I settled on was 12. I thought I would stop there because I had almost stopped developing new characters. However, then I found some dolls to fit an older set of characters I had not previously planned on dollifying.
I will probably have 20 by the end of next year and really do think I will at least slow down my collecting, but I have given up on planning the number of dolls I will have.

    14. I started from one or two, then maybe around 6 or 7, now i'm down to 5, and 3 tinies must be included

    15. Originally I said no more than 10. But I can tell right now (while I'm waiting for my first, and saving for my second and third) with a wishlist of 26 (all of whom have solid characters that they represent) I've decided that it'll be no more than 36 because that leaves me plenty of room. I'm in no hurry to get them all though so that's okay and I certainly won't be buying when I really can't afford it. So far the only reason I'm working on three so close together is because their sculpts are being discontinued.

We'll see what happens though. If I end up in a really tiny house then it probably won't work out since most of them are larger dolls. And as of right now I'm not adding dolls to my wishlist so it looks as though it's going to stick around the 26 mark and that'll be all there is since I feel like all of the characters have sculpts assigned for me to eventually pick up. Even then there are a couple who I might not end up getting unless the characters develop more.

    16. When I first started this hobby, I thought I would be content with just one. Now that I have one, however, I keep thinking about how I would like to get one more... Or maybe even two. I guess I will just have to see in time if I end up wanting more :3

    17. Goodness, I think it changes every day...

    18. I hadn't given it a whole lot of thought, but I sort of figured 10 was the upper limit. Now I have 13 and a floating head-and I've not touched my wish list! Also, I've seen sculpts I like better now for the two characters I thought were definitively shelled. I don't think I'll sell the old dolls if I get the new, I'll just make them new characters. This is getting serious! I'm going to be one of those old ladies with a house full of dolls! Though when most people think of those old ladies, the dolls aren't Iplehouse beefcake...

    19. I read my earlier post in this thread from about 4 1/2 years ago. At that time I was trying to keep it down to about 9. I've since revamped that total to 11 because that's where my numbers seem to stay. Not bad that I only added a couple more than I initially thought in all that time.;) I've found that I really perpetually hover around 11. If I get up to 12 (which I've told myself is my absolute limit) I wind up selling one. If I get down to 10, I wind up buying one. One way or another, I've stayed at 11 for several years.:sweat

    20. When I got my first doll, he was going to be an "only child" but then I decided I needed another one, but told myself that my limit would be 3. I now have 13. What does that say about me and my will power? lol
