1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did how many dolls you plan to have change?

Jun 26, 2008

    1. When I started I only wanted one. I did feel it would be a plus to have more than one, but the expense (and intimidation of having something so expensive) kept any serious considerations of more out of my mind for a good while. I hoped and intended to be satisfied with one - and I was, very much so. Now, two years after Luc arrived, I'm planning on getting a second.

I'm not perturbed that my mind/decision has changed, or that it might change again the future. I spent months thinking about this second BJD, until I was sure that having two dolls would truly up the enjoyment I get out of having one. I expect it to be at least two more years before I start hankering over a third.

    2. I think it's the nature of bjds to just mess with your plans!

I started just looking for that perfect ONE. BJDs seemed insanely expensive and I didn't know anyone else who would even think of spending so much for a doll (or so I THOUGHT!).

Searching around meant finding and joining DoA. That meant that there were people who had not only one, but many more! It shocked me at first, but of course, as time went on, I got USED to it.

Then I found out that people I knew from Before-Bjds were also into them.

Shopping around the internet made me aware of more bjds...

After I got my perfect ONE home, I quickly got my perfect SECOND... because it went up for sale for a limited period! After searching so hard for the first and finding so many sold-out, I knew I couldn't pass up the second, even though it was WAY too soon.

She would pose so nicely with my first and they would be a couple!

      ...AND... so it goes!!!!

      With all these factors:
DoA making information easier and enabling with hundreds (thousands!) of other bjd owners...
Having one or two dolls and surviving the horrors of ordering and paying so much and buying/making stuff for them...
And shopping around for the dolls you have and seeing more dolls...
It's difficult to resist the lure of buying MORE.

      Anyway... I started thinking
      Only ONE.
      then...(after a MONTH!)
      Only TWO.
then...(after a year or two--way back then there were not so many dolls being released, so it was easier to resist)
      Maybe stop at FIVE
      then... (after another few years)
      Maybe stop at TEN
      then... (after another few years)
Just try not to become a TOTAL DOLL HOARDER!!!! *_*

I have stopped trying to plan. I know I totally fail at this!

    3. Well first I only wanted a DD. Got her head and wouldn't you know there was a body shortage. I was kind of of against resin girls at the time. Thought realistic dolls was just...eh not my thing. While searching for 1/3 bjd clothes for my DD on ebay I came across a Alice in Wonderland looking bjd. I thought well who knows when bodies will be available again so I bought her. Less than month later I found a DDDy body. Then I happened across a MSD in the marketplace. I liked her so I researched her company and found another one. I'll stop lol. Long story short, I wanted just one to begin with. Now I have six and it's a little scary that I don't really have a cap right now lol. Being a creative person, it don't take much for a light to go off in my head with an idea for a new doll.

    4. I planned to have one. I got twelve now, plus five floating heads of different sizes. *pauses* Uh. Make that six. And I PLAN to have no more than thirteen dolls. Cos I'm running out of space. Really.

    5. I only planned to have 2. Then 5. Then 7. Then 10. Now 12. It has changed a lot. But the last two I really don't see me getting.

    6. I wanted 1, then "maybe 1 for each size" ... and now it's like each size are breeding non-stop !

    7. So much for planning. Last time I posted here, I was planning to not get any more than 13 dolls. Currently, I got 14 and number 15 on the way. Got rid of two of the floathing heads, though - not that THAT helps much as far as saving space is concerned ...

    8. Bought a little Jax bunny on impulse. Then had planned to buy a DDS after seeing and falling in love with a friend's, but never did. I bought KDF Narae instead and thought that would be it. But no, it wasn't too long before another stole my heart and now have seven with two more on the way. Now I'm thinking I'll have to get rid of some mags fom my bookcase to make room for more BJD's. :)

      P.S. that's not counting my 27 Blythe's etc.

    9. I started with one and thought that'd be the end of things. I was so happy with her ^ ^ I reinvent her look at long intervals to remind myself of why the doll hobby[i/] is so fantastic - it's the customisation.
But then I saw SOOM's Babette and I just fell in love with her sculpt. Just like that. Dolly love at first sight. This hadn't happened with my first doll - I'd searched and searched for that perfect doll when I got her. :) So I've put the payment through for Babette and am waiting for her to come home.

...and while I thought that'd be it, I recently bought a Blythe while on my travels. (she's adorable, too)

    10. When I originally planned to get BJDs I had only intended to get two, a girl and a boy that would just be a couple. @-@
But once I received my first girl I felt more to her character than just that and I started to plan a story around that, and of course there are more characters being sprung up so my doll family will definitely grow.

I plan to have around something in the teens for dolly amount now..
