1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did how many dolls you plan to have change?

Jun 26, 2008

    1. At first, it was one of each gender.

      Then, it was three.

Now, it's at least four, with the possiblity of limitless expansion.

One or two my ass, I haven't got the willpower! I can't say no to excess pretty!

    2. I would like to have three: one girl and boy to be bf/gf, and a third to be based off of an RP character of mine. :3 So far that has not changed.

    3. Oh, I knew I wasn't going to end up with one.
      I wanted 3.
Actually, I wanted my 2 boys. But then I wanted a girl. So then my troupe went to 3.
But then MO, my practice head, somehow got a body.
So my group will be 4 at least.
I also recently decided, at some point in time, I want something Littlefee sized.
Who knows how big my collection may end up being.
Unfortunately, I have no idea where I am going to put them all *_* Not good, not good ...

    4. Hehe, I originally planned on just my one little Alice (BBB Erin), then it grew to a whopping 3 once my dolly addiction started taking hold, and now, a whole 2 years later, I'm planning on at least 30 or so over many years to come! :sweat

Yah, I did not keep to my initial amount by any means! XD

    5. Did it change? Sort of.

I only wanted one doll to begin with. It wasn't so much that I had a limit for myself, but that there were so few that I actually liked.

Problem number one: the doll I fell in love with is only sold as a pair. Okay, two dolls.

Problem number two: it took FOREVER to arrive, and I am Instant Gratification Girl. A trip to the Volks store and it became three dolls.

Problem number three: Cannot resist digitigrade legs, even on a tiny gem. Four dolls.

Problem number four: "Hey, this one is REALLY cheap and will ship immediately!" Five dolls.

But now that my dolls are (almost) all here, I really don't see me picking up any more.

    6. Well, considering I wasn't ever planning on getting a doll in the first place, I'd say it's changed quite a bit. :XD:
Thanks to my friends and the doa marketplace I now not only have one..I want four more.:doh

    7. I thought at first that I only wanted one doll but the number has been increasing of late

    8. I only wanted one doll, a Dollfie Dream, then i discovered the world of BJD's and everything change, so one BJD doll, just one, but now this ideas and characters have come to my mind and i already have my first boy, one girl in layaway and other two i'm thinking all the time. So, my initial amount of "One" is no more, and the way i've planning things, the number will increase up to 12!!!

    9. I figured I would only end up breaking any plans or limits I had, so I just decided to get what I want, assuming I could afford it, and try to keep it under an absured amount ^.^

    10. At first I just wanted one - and I wasn't even really picky! Just "one hooved Soom MD" (I originally fell for Beryl... almost a year after she sold out :sweat).

Then, once I jumped on Cuprit (LOVE), I started working out her character (I'm a writer - I can only 'justify' things like expensive dolls to myself if I use them as practice for my writing). Suddenly I found myself with a huge, elaborate, unfolding plot.

And with a plot comes characters... and potential for characters.

I quickly fell for the Pipos dolls... and discovered them showing up in my story as characters. So now I own a Cheshire (the very first BJD I've ever seen in person. Cuprit won't turn up for months yet XD), and have a Dali and a Bao planned.

... and THEN I absolutely feel in love with Chrom, the most recent Soom MD - and, of course, realised that he's PERFECT for another of my characters.

And now that I have two Soom MDs on the way, I've decided I'd really, really love to get the whole elements 'set' (six dolls *_*). For Chrom I only bought the head and the fantasy parts, and will worry about the body later. If I do that for the others, I'll be able to afford them (usually I'd have to save up for far longer than one/two months to afford an $800+ doll (especially as that's over AU$1000!), but buying just the fantasy parts is much more achiveable...

... I have to admit, even though I'm more than a little daunted by the thought of owning so many expensive/giant/exotic dolls... I'm really looking forward to meeting all the new characters :)

    11. I think I stop at six, 3 girls and 3 boys.

    12. I think I originally thought two..a couple of girls, one sort of modern and one who could wear period stuff..of course then it got totally out of control. I don't regret it a bit..I probably would have bought fewer dolls if I had gone to more meet-ups at the start, because the sculpts look so different in person and the dolls have very different resin weights and feels, and move differently. If I had bought a MNF Shushu at the start I might have stopped there, because she is the one I think is the quintessential little moving sculpture. But of course now I have all these goofy dolls that I love for other reasons;-) Oh, and I made the big mistake of buying a boy doll. Turns out I really love boy dolls...oops.
      :D

    13. When I first got into the hobby, I planned to only have two dolls to bring two fictional characters to life, to make writing about them a bit easier. I still only have one doll (I've gone through a few other ones but never loved them enough) but I come up with new ideas for future dolls all the time. I'll probably cap it all off at five dolls total because I have attachment issues as it is and I can't imagine giving enough time to more than that, but it's a huge difference than my original plans! I think having them makes you change your mind a lot...seeing what you can do with them; how versatile they are.

    14. At first I planed to get Shima only because she is my dearest character. When I was thinking about getting Ryog as bf for her... Tsukasa's mold Afra was released and I ordered him. Than, finally, I ordered Ryog and thought about keeping those 3 dolls and that's it. Just some weeks later I was so tempted by buying Ryog and Shima a cute little child and ordered Miri. Soon I thought that Tsukasa looks sooo lonely and I decided to put B&G Sapphira on my wishlist. During that time I remembered the floating second head of Shima and gave him to Tsukasa as company. -Endless story-
So in the end I do have 4 dolls, 1 head that will have a body in some weeks and one incoming doll. All in all I will have 6 dolls in some weeks and there are still 5 more planned and I'm sure I will not stop there

    15. I never planned on having any.

Then I got one, and thought she'd be enough.

Then it became two. Then three. Then four...

... somehow, my "no dolls for me" became eight.

    16. I had planned on only one. One would be enough. However that changed pretty quickly and now I have a few more on the waiting /buying list...

    17. yep! i was only ever going to have 1!!! only DoT E-an! that was it! and i would just buy her lots of new clothes and wigs and shoes to go with whatever given mood i was in. but then i got bored waiting for E-an and i ordered a LittleFee Ante... sigh... so im sure in the end i will have MANY......

    18. ...it started with one... then she wanted a boyfriend.. then a child... now I have a whole resin fmily T_T and I want a slightly modded AOD MiMi.. oh god, when will it end? :P

    19. I only have one now but I was intending on getting 5 from the beginning (know exactly what moulds and everything) Then I got Soomed ^^; (Glot; VERY unplanned doll XD) so now my list has gone up to 6

    20. I planned to have one doll, then decided to get one more as a friend, and so on and so on and so on. Five is the limit. Don't think I could handle having another one. Three would be a perfect number but I can't sell two dolls because I would miss them.
