1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Did owning BJDs turn you into a shopaholic?

Apr 26, 2011

    1. I was one already but now I am an Iplehouse one which I was not before. Yikes!

    2. Like most people I was already a shop-a-holic I just shop for different things now. Instead of my cards and figures I get dolls. Though admittedly my perspective is different as I've never paid over $30 for any piece of clothing before, now it's like $30 for a dress?! That's super cheap! $30 for a pair of shoes?! What a steal! Lol. And sadly that's not even for myself but for my dolls lol I still don't own an outfit that's costs more than $50 even with accessories!

    3. Collecting dolls definitely changed my perspective about expensive. I don't know if it made me a shopaholic more than I already was but I sure spend more time looking around for doll clothes than I did before. They also changed my taste of clothing. I used to be very tomboyish and my clothes used to be mostly black or darker colors when I was younger but now I like dresses and colorful outfits.

    4. Surprisingly, yes. I only have one doll, but I'm surprised by how much stuff I'm getting her! Shoes, outfits, underwear, wigs, furniture, props, etc. Lately, I've been shopping more for her than for me!

    5. I think yes, after owning two different size of boy, I am making my self crazy on shopping for their clothes, well money is a problem, I think I spend on their clothes more than mine~

    6. I was a shopaholic long before starting this hobby!
But having the doll is not easy :sweat.
Every time i see something cute for him i tend to buy it.
And i haven't even received him yet!!

    7. YES. There's no denying it, even this early in the hobby. *_*
I ''window-shop'' so much, too it's unbearable. I have my usb stick on which i download pictures and links of the things/dolls/clothes I want...

    8. Yes! It's like my doll says,"Buy me stuff!" And I obey! :)

    9. Yes, definitely! I never buy clothes for myself, but as soon as I got my first doll I immediately started shopping clothing and other cute things for her, thinking that I could never have enough. I care way more about how she looks than what I look like myself, which is kinda freaky but fun at the same time

    10. Possibly. I just got my first bjd a couple weeks ago and I want to buy him a lot of stuff. My wishlists are growing!

    11. No, I don't really feel the need to spend money recklessly. The expenses also further discourage me from doing that. Although I do a lot of window shopping, so getting into BJDs have made me just window shop more, haha.

    12. I've just started collecting & so far have 3 dolls to start my own "heirlooms" for my 2 daughters, but I want so many more.
Each time I see a photo of someones doll..........I want that one too.
Its definitely an expensive but enjoyable hobby :)

    13. I was already a shopaholic =.= if BJDs weren't in my life, I know I would be spending my money on other things.

    14. If anything I think I'm less of a shopaholic since I got my first bjd! I used to buy so many anime/game figurines but once I got my first doll I realised how much nicer they are. I find that these days I buy a lot less but I save my money more with the thoughts of my next bjd in mind. ^^
I think other life changes have influenced that as well, but overall I've started to feel that 'less is more'.

    15. Absolutely yes, but it's not that i'm spending more money because of my doll, it's just that now i'm spending them in a more meaningful way. Back then i would just waste my money in other less useful things ~ The feelings you have when your doll wearing what you buy for them is so amazing, and i'm happy this way :)

    16. I totally feel like I am! :s I have spent far more on dolls clothes and accessories than I have on myself in months haha. I just received the last thing I ordered in the mail last week and now I feel like I want to order something else, just because I love the feeling of having something to look forward to ^-^

    17. i never used to buy things before i joined the BJD hobby, only ever really saved my money...now i spend most of it on things i find in shops that work with BJD and are the right size, also on clothes and obviously the dolls themselves.

If you wish to be in the BJD hobby say goodbye to your money.

    18. I've always loved to buy things to collect. So whether it's dolls, teddy bears or antiques, the shopping experience is always fun. Sometimes I think I like the shopping part better than the owning part, as often things I've enjoyed shopping for end up getting put away in boxes to make room for new things. I can spend hours and hours looking on Ebay for stuff. Retail therapy!

    19. not in the slightest. I've always hated spending money so my spending habits haven't really changed at all. (I save up for specific things i want)

    20. I've always been a shopaholic, owning a doll just give me more reason to shop.
