1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I win, I lose, it doesn't matter much to me. I'll no longer stay up all night to snipe at the last minute. I just enter my maximum bid before I go to bed. If I win, that's great. If I lose, then no big deal. I wasn't going to spend more than that anyway. Afterall, another one almost always comes along somewhere down the line & if it doesn't that just frees up my money for other things.

    2. I snipe. I haven't bought any dolls on ebay yet, but anything I do buy, I snipe. If you don't, you don't win. It's usually that simple.
      It frustrated me before I learned the system, but once I figured it out, no problem. If someone else really wants it, they can snipe too, and whoever snipes higher, wins. That's how ebay works, in my oppinion.

      I went to Yahoo Japan for a few things, and found out you CAN'T snipe there. The auction site doesn't like it, so they have a safeguard. If someone bids at the last second, the auction gets extended. This can happen multiple times. There was one auction I tried, which ended at 1 am, and I was up until 3:30 fighting with someone in Japan for the item as we both bidded just a little more again and again. THAT I disliked. But I didn't have much money, and couldn't afford to put in a HIGH bid, but I really wanted the item, and dude, they shipped overseas! (which is crazy rare on Yahoo JP)
      ...and I would like to add I did finally win. The other person probably hated me. I was pretty miffed too, even though I won. If you dislike snipers, I recommend that site.

    3. I've been sniped a few times and have hated it--but I know it's just the way the system works.

      Now, I don't really care--I just bid and win or lose. I can't really be bothered any more (after a gazillion years on ebay... it's all been-there-done-that!)

      I don't think I've ever been contacted by anyone who was ticked off by my winning a bid... But then, as I said, I've been doing it a long while and after hundreds and hundreds of auctions, things just aren't such a big deal any more--and I may just not remember if I've gotten things like that! *_*

    4. I don't use the sniping services myself, but one of my best collecting buddies does and he says its very convenient. I've been outbid LOTS o'times by a sniper! Well, its saved me some money in the long run!
      And yes, someone has gotten mad at me for winning an item on ebay. It was quite memorable as he called me all kinds of names and blocked my replying to his or her email. Accused me of being a dealer when I obviously wanted the item for myself and my own collection (believe me, NO one could have resold the item for more money for what I had paid , especially now - it was a vintage Barbie item) - and I thought, that particular insult wasnt bad at all compared to the others, but it still caught me off-guard. I thought afterwards that there were an awful lot of crybabies in this collecting world even if you win something fair and square.....Alex

    5. nope, never :)
      but I don't bid often

    6. Almost every single thing I've ever bid on, be it doll-related or not, I've sniped. Not with some stupid program, but with my own mad skills, haha.

      No one's ever gotten mad at me (though maybe I'm sure they're fuming in the background somewhere) and I haven't gotten mad at anyone else either. All seems a bit ridiculous. You win or you lose. You lose, suck it up. Try again.

      The only times I've gotten irritated with a bid is... when I've got the highest bid, since I put something ludicrously high, jamming it in in the last few seconds. Then there's that someone that tries to bid as high, but doesn't quite make it, and amps up the amount that I have to pay. Oooor if I bid early, because for whatever reason, I feel that no one else is going to bid on the item, there's that one person that bids 10 times in the last few minutes, still losing out, but raising the price for me. When they finally give up, the amount you end up being is suddenly twice or three times more than what you had down initially. Aaah.

    7. Ah ah! Like you said yourself, suck it up! It's what you get for being a sniper. :p

    8. True.
      The sniper in me is not hurt.
      The thrifty, cheap part of me is. Haha.

      Now that I think about it, it's irritating how those snipers were such failures.

    9. I've been sniped, I was only upset because it was my dream doll (who I eventually got) and my maximum bid was $50 (including shipping prices) less than what it would have taken to get direct from the company. It happened after I had my bid on top (being the only bidder) for about six days. What I think is funny though is a couple of different people bid at the same time and the price went over retail. :) I got mine for less, I just had to wait eight months.

      Since I've been sniped, I've used sniping services. Usually I back out before the bid goes in, cause I'm not getting all high on bidding. :) I haven't over committed yet. I set a budget on all bids I make though. On all bids, I set a price, subtract the shipping cost and that is my maximum bid no matter what.

    10. Btw, I can not snipe. I have dialup, only because to get anything faster, it is satelite only. I litterly live down the street from cable, but it will not come down this way. They've told us for years Bellsouth will bring DSL down here and never did it.

      So I can't snipe, not on my own.

    11. I think that it is cruel to snipe bids. I know that my boyfriend was devastated when he lost an auction on a doll head because no one had bid on it all week but him, so he had gotten so excited and expectant about the doll.

      Personally I wanted to hit who ever made by boyfriend sad upside the head with a salami.

    12. I am very pragmatic when it comes to auctions. I've been to many, many real life auctions where "sniping" is irrelevant...you bid until you win, or you stop bidding if it gets too high. I'm the same way with Ebay. If I want something bad enough, I will bid until I get it, even if it means constantly refreshing my browser and rebidding until the end. I've never used a bid proxy site...if I can't do it myself, then that's my tough luck. I bid personally and I bid until I win (unless, of course, the price goes higher than I'm willing to pay.)

      I recently won a Unoa Sist faceplate in the last 12 seconds of an auction. The other person was desperate and bid something like $50 with 41 seconds to go. I waited as long as possible then bid $50 above that. I won and I was pleased :)

      It's an auction, people. That's the entire point of an auction. Bid or don't bid, winning's the name of the game.

    13. I ever bid and was out of bid before last miniute the biding was stop.
      so the people who win didn't pay for her or his wining bid but the second chance is come to me and the price was out standing to me.

      I don't know this is the trick or any tactic or not.
      I didn't feel mad for this but feel like 'hey! what dose it mean about the price?' or 'hey! why don't you said to me if you want me to buy this price?' something like this.

    14. I didn't read All the posts here but I just thought of something.

      What if you worked hard on bidding for something you reeaaalllyyyy want.. and you've been waiting days for the end of the bid and keeping an eye on it, and then suddenly at the last moment someone doesn't Outbit you.. but baught the item at the extremely rediculously high "Buy Now" price... (If the idem has a very high buy now price or has that option up at all) o_o;

      No it hasn't happened to be but I was wondering how someone would feel >_>;

    15. I've sniped {no software used} and been sniped...not a big deal to me..its all fun...I would rather deal with something like that then go to a casino and lose alot of money and come home with nothing..at least I had the thrill of the chase so to speak..
      I won my hound from ebay..I was the only bidder!..

    16. I would be the massive amount beforehand person. I believe if there is something I am bidding on it must be mine! (rwar) But with "buy it now" features I just look for those, otherwise I put a lot down, and hope for the best lol.

    17. One time I placed a bid for a doll on Ebay. I had noticed after I bid that the name of the person that was also bidding on the doll looked familiar, but I didn't really think anything of it. In the end I didn't end up winning the doll and neither did the other person. When I visited their blog there is a big rant about how upset and hurt they where by someone they knew outbidding them on a doll and this other nonsense. It was then that I realized who I had been bidding against. My only response was that I didn't know it was them and honestly its an auction the purpose is to bid. There is no malicious intent behind auctions. I didn't win anyways so it wasn't like I snipped it or anything. I just found the whole thing silly especially since doll communities aren't that big so the chances of bidding against someone you know are pretty high. So her rant to me was just silly.

    18. I agree, the idea of bidding is a type of friendly competition. Original auctions were done in small towns were pretty much everyone knew you. Coming from a more wealthy backround, the family would bid on things as well as friends in an auction and no one ever had hard feelings. You just had to have the right paddle gesture and timing. It's a game to a lot of people and shouldn't be taken seriously. When someone out bids me I usually say in a goofy voice with my face contorted: "It wasn't meant to be"

    19. Most auctions end when i'm asleep, so i'm the dude who manages to win with stupidly high bids. :sweat

    20. I either lose or win...

      Im a person that bids the lowest amount, then when i see that someone has one of those things where they can keep bidding, it really frustrates me. cuz i dont understand how that happens, so i keep bidding and i usually give up cuz i cant seem to get the high bid. -sigh-

      now if i bid and i see that happening again i just plain give up on teh auction ;-;
