1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did you ever buy two or more dolls at once? :o

Sep 8, 2011

    1. Back in 2016, I actually won both DD Len and Rin Kagamine through the Volks lottery system and basically wiped out half the savings from my summer job to bring them both home. That was the first and only time I've ever had more than one on order!

That said, I might end up with two or more on order this summer, depending on how I'm feeling, how the funds play out, and if Fairyland does a tan skin event anytime soon. I'm planning on ordering a Crobidoll Lance, but I'm also eyeballing a BBB Apollo hybrid and a second LTF!

    2. Dunno if i posted this but I bought 5 at once from Fairyland...minifees!

    3. I once ended up buying two dolls at once in a sense. I had placed an order for one doll to pick up at a convention and then wondered if I could order a second to pick up at the same time. Turns out I could. So I ended up buying 2 dolls and picking them up at the convention. But silly me didn't completely consider the whole packing them for home. I had flown up to the convention and only wanted carry-ons with me and I only brought one doll with me as well to make it a little easier for me.
But I forgot on the way home, I'd have 3 dolls to deal with and the boxes the 2 dolls came in. I could've forgotten the boxes but I still wanted to keep them with me for now. So it was interesting when I had to pack for the flight home but I managed it.

Not sure I would buy 2 dolls at the same time again. Maybe if there were 2 I really wanted at the same time and had the money for it...

EDIT: I totally forgot about the other time I did order 2 dolls at once. They were part of a limited AE doll and I just went ahead and bought both dolls I liked. It was hard on the wallet but when they arrived at my house, I was just so happy so it was worth it. But definitely buying 2 at once can be a rush.

    4. Definitely, I bought 3 Blythes in one go and bought several other dolls. I typically like to have two dolls of the same doll as a minimum as I don't like for them to be alone.

    5. My husband and I have bought more than one doll at the same time, but it was when we were already established as BJD owners for many years (nearing the two decade mark!) and were at a better financial place in our lives (went from dirt poor to not, yay!). I highly recommend getting one first and establishing if that size, sculpt, company, etc are to your liking. The first doll really makes it or breaks it for newbie BJD owners. Some, it is perfect the first time, every time. However, some people realize after getting their first one that maybe the size/scale isn't right for them, or maybe the resin is too light or too heavy for them, or maybe the company was a nightmare during the mailing process, or that the promo pictures were way better than the actual doll, etc.

To share what my friend went through, she bought multiple dolls from different companies roughly around the same time frame when she first got into BJDs. She pretty much fell for multiple dolls from different companies and luckily had saved up enough to get LEs straight from the companies and a secondhand Volks for her first dolls. For the most part, she loved all her dolls. However, one particular doll caused her health problems. We eventually identified it as resin dust poisoning where she got the worst of it and I got the secondhand effects whenever I visited her (nosebleeds, itchiness of throat, eyes, skin, etc). She tried the whole bathing the doll's body and stuff to reduce the effects, but in the end sold that doll and didn't buy from that company anymore (I can't remember exactly which one it was) all within a few months of having that doll. The other dolls (Volks, Soom, and Dream of Doll) she ended up keeping to I believe for several years or even bought more from two of the same companies. So...yeah, buy one first, make sure it isn't killing you, and go from there. Hahahahaha.:sweat:barf:ablah::thumbup

It's great getting more than one doll at the same time, but if you are getting them mailed, I highly recommend registering for Informed Delivery through the USPS if you live in the US. We have that and are lucky enough our postman always brings our packages to the door (not all do), but essentially what it is is you get an email or text with a scan of what mail items are coming in your mail for that day so you can be sure to get it right away when it arrives. We've had scenarios where it was delivered to the wrong house/city (DHL but they called us and eventually delivered it to us safely) or simply left on the sidewalk at my parents' house back when we were living with them so I would always err on the side of caution when having it delivered to your house. If it is through DHL, pay for the more expensive delivery where you can put specific instructions on how you want it delivered, they can call/text you if they are right outside your home, or they have to see your ID to confirm it is you they are giving your doll to.

Again, getting multiple dolls at once is great once you have established what kind of dolls you want, what companies you trust/like, you are financially sound at the moment for such big purchases, and all that. However, I would not do it as a newbie. Legit, the fear for long-term resin dust poisoning is real. Hahahaha.:shudder

    6. Actually, it happened to me very recently. I bought one doll months ago and about a week ago I bought an in-stock doll! One of them arrived last week. I'm still waiting for the other one. I felt kinda guilty for spending lots of money at once but oh well, life is short. Do it when you have a chance:XD:

    7. I just purchased Alan and Miwa fullsets from Fairyland together. I think they make a lovely set and plan to display them with my teacup collection. Having said that, I use the payment plan, because otherwise, I really couldn't afford it without dipping into savings.

    8. I bought two Iplehouse FIDs together, the Bichun and Rex sculpts. Beautiful dolls. I’ve vague ideas of how I want to style them but haven’t quite gotten around to it yet. And I’ve just remembered, I ordered a Doll Chateau Christine and Clemens together when the latter was available as an event doll.

    9. Yes, I've done this more than once and I've just recently done it again. It's cheaper in the long term as I pay less in shipping and customs fees compared to placing purchases for one doll here and there. Discontinuations have forced my hand at times too.

    10. Ahh yes! :P I tend to try and twin my dolls but only if I can get them in different resin colours. It is like Christmas!! Don't feel bad your just treating yourself. :D

    11. I bought Mystic Kids Milo and Eli just last week. I did tons of research, watched videos on doll posing etc and checked out the skin colours blah blah blah.

I can't wait for them to get here so much that I accidentally bought a wig just now for my Mystic Kids Eli even though I am on bank account lockdown and should never order anything ever again XD

    12. I'm waiting on multiple dolls right now. I have a DV Order wolftaur & Coco, a Faewoods red Orchidacea girl, a DV Bor, and I just got my Supia girl. :XD: And while waiting for them I bought an Unoa L-bi on the marketplace.

    13. I ordered two of Soom's Free Choice Event Petit Gems together, since I though if I only got one, they'd seem lonely. And because I really liked two very different possible dolls.

    14. How did it feel like to have multiple dolls delivered to your house?
SWELLINGLY MAGICAL-- opening my front door to see that shipping box from Fairyland with order of multiple dolls felt like Christmas morning as a child, honestly. I was overjoyed.

Did you regret ordering them at once?
In hindsight, I feel slight shame and embarrassment at placing such a large order, but in that moment, everything was truly beautiful and nothing hurt. I had a vision that I wanted to bring to life in doll form and I finally achieved it after a year of saving, and that, I do not regret.

    15. During Luts' Summer 2020 event last year, I ordered both a Honey Delf Raphael and Kid Delf Darin. That was the first time I'd ordered multiple dolls together. I like it, because it saves on shipping costs rather than ordering them separately.

    16. oh my gosh. this year I bought six dolls. :sweat
I went a little overboard. And I still have my eyes on another. Maybe next year.

Having multiple dolls coming in the mail is honestly pretty exciting but it gets old after the third one.
I regret it mostly for the credit card debt.

    17. How did it feel like to have two dolls delivered to your house?

My first dolls were LUTS tiny centaurs… and I ordered two. But, they didn’t come at the same time. All I can say is that it felt amazing to get them.

Did you regret ordering them at once?

I worried about it while waiting as I’d never owned a BJD before. But, I loved them once they came. I have no regrets honestly.

    18. Most of my doll purchases come in pairs. They mostly advertise in pairs, make outfits in pairs, so I think it’s normal to buy like that. Same sculpt, but different skin tones to me is a different doll. Romance, fantasy, and human versions of the same sculpt to me is part of the doll. I get excited over one doll as much as two when it all comes home, I am both relieved and happy.

    19. Once. But usually it is too expensive (

    20. I'm currently waiting for 8 different dolls from 8 different companies... orz
