1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. She did -- and it was awful. Clumpy acrylics, too-long, too-big, crushed eyelashes that almost completely covered her eyes, an unflattering wig, mismatched eyes (one acrylic, one glass, one 14mm and the other 16mm). Looking back, it almost made me leave the hobby as soon as I got in until I got gutsy enough to yank out her eyelashes and buy some matching eyes for her.

    2. I do hope to someday try practicing doing faceups, but until then it's commissioning artists. My first I ordered without and sent her off to have it done by someone.

    3. My first two dolls came with face ups, because I couldn't imagine trying to do it myself. But I just bought my first blank doll, and have been watching a lot of YouTube tutorials in preparation. If it's a total disaster, I figure I can always wipe it off and find a face up artist.

    4. i got my first doll with a face up because it was second hand. I think the face up was by the previous owner but i'm slowly getting the supplies to redo the face up!

    5. My first doll was a second hand Resinsoul Jun. He had a face-up. I'm practicing so I can redo it sometime. Right now, I'm afraid to just wipe it off and "ruin it" so to speak...if I mess up doing my own face up.

    6. My first doll did come with company face up, even though I did practice a lot in advance still didn't feel brave enough to do it myself. Also, I wanted to have an estimate how a nicely done face up would look, so that later on I'd be able to compare my own work to the same high standard. Guess I'm just a bit silly about having my dolls a perfect face up. >.<

    7. Yes.
I was and still am not confident enough to make my own face-up.

I recently ordered a blank head to practice it though.

I'm curious. Where did the doll come from.

Mine has a pretty neat factory face-up even if there is room for improvement, the eyebrows are too light for the wig I picked for my girl and I think the lower lashes could look a bit better.

    8. All face-ups are mine.

    9. I didn't order my girl with one, I just plan on doing it myself.

    10. Nope! I wanted to do it myself and save some money, plus develop the skill to redo it myself if it chipped. I have no regrets with that decision, either.

    11. I ordered my first doll with the company face up. It was beautiful but it did not suit his character. I couldn't bond with him after that and ended up selling him. Now I paint my own face ups and I do like my dolls much better as they feel more personal and it helps you bond with the doll too.

    12. No, because I thought I could do it myself... and I failed...

    13. Nope, I hated the look of the face up the company had on the website for my first doll, so I ordered her blank. A local face up artist did her face up a few months later and she's beautiful. :) I pretty much order all of my dolls blank - I know enough people here in the city that I can get a lovely face up done for a small cost without worrying about shipping my kids out!

    14. I ordered mine without the default face-up because it didn't suit her character and I wasn't very fond of it. I plan to do it myself after ordering some MSC.

    15. This probably doesn't count but my Volks 16 Megu did because I bought her from a DOA member. I have an Island Doll that has a default faceup from the company but I bought her 2nd hand.

    16. The first doll I purchased was at the KBJD show and she came with the default face up. She's an Elfdoll Rosey and she has a very simple look.
My 2nd doll that will be arriving sometime in the future is going to be blank. I'm going to do a lot of research before he gets here so I can attempt to give him a face up. (He's a Maybach made by DemiurgeDolls.)

    17. My first doll has default face up. I like it a lot! And I think that it was an easy way to start this hobby. But I ordered my second and third doll without face up because I want to do it by myself.

    18. My first doll came with a factory faceup. I hated it and eventually wiped it off and attempted to do my own,but that didnt work out very well either, and i ended up just commissioning a friend of mine to do it for me.

    19. Yes, Mich came with Face-up, but now, after so many years, he really needs a new one. I had the bodyblushing removed because it had gone VERY dirty and lost most of its effect. Now he's two-tones since the bodyblushing held some of the yellowing.

    20. ALL of my dolls came with either a factory faceup or one from a DoA member if on the secondary market. The only ones that have not are most of my floating heads.
