1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. most of my earlier dolls came with factory face-ups.
i think if my first ever bjd came blank it would have been a bit off-putting.

    2. I considered ordering my first without a faceup but I'm glad I ordered her with one! I loved taking pictures of her right away!

    3. I got my first doll with a faceup, because I loved her with the whole image. And I still do not feel really experienced to look through the sculpt and find the right way/different way to do the faceup myself.

    4. My first doll was bought from the company but came with a custom face up. I don't know if they do that anymore since right after I recieved my doll from them, they had an explosion of orders and their wait times became and stayed ridiculous after that. It would be a shame if they didn't though because they did the custom face up so perfect.

    5. I've just purchased my first doll. He is second hand and am waiting for him to arrive in the post but when choosing my first, i made sure he had faceup. My painting skills are quite lacking and i'd be worried about ruining him after spending a lot on him (for me).

    6. I did my first dolls faceup the day I did her box opening, then I redid it about eight more times over the next few weeks.

    7. I got my first doll with the face up, but it has made it so difficult to bond with him :( I regret it, and I don't plan to get default face ups again. Soon I will be buying some more dolls, and they will all be blank.

    8. My very first doll came up to me with a factory face-up. That time I did not know much about how to make it and was scared to customise my doll myself. Then I ordered two more dolls from another company and they arrived blank. Some time after I got all the art materials I needed and started to make face-ups myself. Now it's a usual thing for me which I really enjoy.

    9. I bought my first doll with faceup!! Since i am so new and its my first doll... I dont wanna ruin it....i guess when the time comes i needa do faceup for my doll but guess i needa go buy a spare head to practice soon...

    10. My first doll came to me secondhand with the factory faceup. I'd wanted the factory faceup on her since she's tiny, and I think attempting to do a tiny faceup right away with no prior experience would've been really frustrating for me. Since then I've done two msd faceups, and I enjoy buying my dolls blank :)

    11. My first boy didn't come with a face up, he got one later from a friend of mine. I didn't like the default he came with, but in the near future I'd like to re-do his faceup.

    12. My first doll came with default face-up, I was looking for a while for this face mould and finally found her in stock through a dealer, so I didn't thought twice and buying her, but I would like doing my own face-ups in the future.

    13. No, even though I know Aquarius Doll makes beautiful faceups. I want to learn to do it myself. ^^

    14. I -generally- like company face-ups. I actually got my first two dolls with face-ups and I HATE their face-ups. My third doll came with a face-up as well and I LOVE hers. I got the face-ups for my first kiddos because I was new and I had no idea which face-up artists were best and I was impatient and I wanted my dollies. I don't think I'd ever get them without the face-ups, even if I could go back and redo it. And I'm so attached to them anyway that I have just gotten used to their horrible gothic make-up.

    15. Nope~ My first is a character doll so I made sure to order him blank to give him a faceup to match the character.

    16. My first 2 girls have company face-ups. One is very basic which I will tweak at some point and the other is perfect. The next two I've ordered are blank, and I'll attempt to do the face-ups myself ^_^

    17. My first girl, who is an Angel Fantasy 1/4 Alice in Tan Pink (Not a normal color,) that I got at A-kon 25, at Doll-a-kon, from Mint On Card Inc. They put out a facebook post about some of the dolls and things they were going to bring and listed on there was my Alice (now named Amara). They said that angel fantasy had sent the dolls to them, and they were supposed to be normal pink, but the color was too dark to be normal pink, so I got a discount on a full doll, with eyes and company face up. She was one of two that had the face up and one of four left that had the discoloration. I am so happy to have her and I love her face up. She is my first in hand doll, but my first ordered doll, (who I am still waiting for.... curse you Ringdoll for the long waits...) a Ringdoll Sol, will not have a faceup, as he is going to be transformed into a favorite anime character of mine.

    18. My first doll, KDF Coco came with a factory faceup, and my second doll, came with a custom faceup (secondhand) and my third doll DD02 came without faceup in which I painted on myself. I really enjoyed doing my own faceup, and I believe this will be my action with my dolls in the future.^^

    19. My first doll Miryu (SoulDoll) came with factory faceup. It's wonderful and simple, and still on her because I'm terrified I'll redo it and I won't like it as well. XD She was a wonderful intro doll; made me love BJDs. My second (Dollzone Megi) I faceuped myself, and while I want to redo it because it's been 6-8 years and I have improved, it wasn't bad. Boosted my confidence! The next two were ordered blank. My Sapphira (B&G) needs redone as well because it's too simple for what I want. I recently redid my poor attempt on my little Leile (B&G), and she turned out marvelous. Time to get crackin'!

    20. My first (and only doll by the moment) is a D.O.C Leya now named Scarlett, since I didn't have back then enough money to order a face up (even that the doll was my 16th birthday mom's present) I decided to make her face up. I read all about how to do one and next day she arrived I did her face up (not horrible but not to good). She has now 5 years with me and I've done her face up 4 to 5 times, and I'm improving.:)
