It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. My first doll and any one after will have faceup, I'm far to impatient and messy to do faceups myself. I have tried it before with the hujoo freya but despite multiple attempts, it just didn't work. :pout:

    2. It did, because I thought I wouldn't be able to paint it myself. It was a DollnDoll King Yuha. I must say i hated the faceup so much, I wiped it after a week or so. And even now, after four years he still doesn't have one. I like him better that way.

    3. Nope! I always buy my dolls blank. I prefer to get artist faceups for my dolls... Gives me more control over what it looks like in the end. I fear that if I let the company do it, they'll just do whatever, and I might not like the result. I also heard that company faceups are harder to remove, so I just buy them blank.

    4. Yes, my first one had faceup - I bought him secondhand, and he had the default company faceup, and he also came with eyes, a wig and a pretty big wardrobe of clothes. I'm glad that it happened like this - although he looks vastly different now, it still gave me the opportunity to familiarize myself with how a BJD looks and handles in person (I've never seen a BJD in person before) before I had to dip my feet into the customizing part :)

However I wanted to get into painting faceups so I ordered my second doll without a faceup, and that also worked out well

    5. Yes she is coming with a company face up for many reasons. 1. I can not stand to look at a blank doll. 2. I do not yet have the courage or equipment to attempt my own face up 3. I might not be able to send her off for a face up for a while. 4. Her company face up actually looks very nice.

    6. I got my first doll (well, doll head) secondhand from a person who already had her with her default face-up. I think that I lost my love for her because of her default face-up but also because her sculpt was not the right one for me, so I'm trying to re-home her. Right now though, my only doll (which she's only a head for now as well) is at a face-up artist and is looking amazing~ Falling in love with her all over again like I did when I removed her default face-up plus a bit of face-up paint that someone added on top of the default face-up (since I got this doll head secondhand as well). DX In my opinion though, I think either getting a custom face-up or trying to do the face-up yourself is better than going with a default face-up in the end (unless you are totally in love with the default face-up then I would say go for it~). But for a first doll, I would probably say to play it safe and buy the doll with a default face-up and see how you like it and decide from there. ^^

    7. Well, since my first doll was technically just a head, yes. He did come with a faceup. My first COMPLETE doll came completely blank and remains blank, though I plan to commission faceups for both of them.

    8. When I ordered my first doll I did not ordered her with company faceup because at that time I thought I will be able to do it myself... but I failed ! Now I really regret it. I have not made the same mistake with my second doll. I directly took faceup of compagny this time.

    9. Yep... because I thought I wouldn't be able to faceup him with my limited knowledge. Needless to say that didn't last very long... Less than a couple weeks in I was already making alterations to it.

    10. both the girls i have now came with a faceup.. i do not order dolls without them.. i cant do face ups so they would always look weird to me. so yes any doll i order has one. id someday like to find a cheap doll to try it on. but no way am i spending a ton of money and not getting them to do a face up!!

    11. I got my first doll without the face up, since I have done face ups for other dolls, I decided that I could do it for my first doll.

    12. My first doll came with the company face-up. I was too nervous about doing one myself (especially with my first), so I planned on redoing it later if I'm ever unsatisfied with it.

    13. My first doll came with a company faceup and there was no choice for it not to since it was a pre-packaged limited doll. :) In general I do like to get my dolls with a company faceup, even if I'm planning to send them away for an artist faceup soon. It helps me bond with them more in the mean time. When dolls arrive blank, I often can't see their future potential and end up selling them on before sending them to a faceup artist. One of my bad habits in the doll hobby, I suppose. :P

    14. The first doll I ordered will come with a company face up, 1. because I like the company FU and 2. because I don't know how to do it myself or know enough people who I could ask for commissions. But I guess I will try making my own face ups in the future, so the next dolls will come without faceup =)

    15. Yes, my first doll came with a face-up. He just looked so stunning that i couldn't order him without. :D

    16. no my first didn't I did it myself :)

    17. Yep. My first doll (head) came with company face-up because I'm worried I would stain him if I did the face up myself. ;; v ;;

    18. Yes, my first and currently only doll came with the default faceup. I'm not yet confident enough to alter her in any way, but someday that may change.

    19. My first doll did not come with a face up. I specifically requested he didn't. He was a gift, and I wanted to wait until I was sure what I wanted on his face. I'm STILL not entirely sure what I want on his face. I didn't do it myself, because I know I would be hopeless at doing so. Plus, I live somewhere very humid and doing a face up in Military housing is just a bad idea. I have some solid ideas of what I want for him, though, and I might save up and send him off soon. I loved the way the doll looked pale and I wanted to keep a lot of that, which is why I asked for him without.

I think getting a face up right away is really up to the individual, just like how you love your doll is. If you want to do your own face up, buy the doll blank. If you love the company face up, buy that! I know one of my wishlist dolls might just keep her face up from the company. And the body blushing. Because I think what they did is just gorgeous and it will work with what I want to do with her. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it depends on the doll and the person buying it!

    20. I ordered a few weeks ago (my first) and he's coming without a face up and oh god am I nervous XD
