Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. My first doll was a discontinued doll from a company that closed down, but they had 1 left in stock and it didnt have a faceup
not sure i even thought about asking them to do one for me, i just always thought of painting them myself xD

    2. I got my girl with a custom face up. It was only an extra $20, and she looks beyond awesome! They even put her eyelashes in for me after they said they wouldn't. (They said they would send the eyelashes and that I could put them in myself, which I had agreed to. Putting eyelashes in isn't hard and that way I could get them just the way I want, but when I unwrapped her face, there they were. I was beyond thrilled.) She was better than what I had imagined! :D

    3. When I ordered my first doll, the idea of painting her myself never occurred to me, as my painting skills are limited to painting things like walls.
      Company face up!

    4. I've always enjoyed painting but I'd be afraid to mess up my very first doll. I'm currently searching for the perfect first doll and I plan on getting the company face up :)

    5. My first doll came with a faceup, as did my second, and my third will too. Will they keep those faceups? Probably not.

I wouldn't feel confident enough to give them a faceup myself, and the faceup artist I really like is in another country, so, with having them arrive already looking pretty I don't have to rush to send them off.

    6. When I ordered my first doll, I hesitate to choose the face up option. But I decided then to do so, because I was afraid to paint it on my own.
      Meanwhile I redo it.

    7. Nop... Well technically yes : the first I ordered I bought a factory face-up for, but I got tired of waiting halfway though and bought another like 2 months before the first came and it was blank... So yes and no.

    8. Yes, my first, and not only first, but all my dolls came with make ups
well, may be it's because I'm newbie, but ..I love the quality and look of Soom and Iplehouse make ups, andI'm 100% sure I will never do it better myself, and I'm too lazy to search for someone who can do it much better than manufacturer. Especially, since Iplehouse has custom make up option)

    9. My first doll is a Bibiane iplehouse EID with B-type make up (freckles), it's too beautiful!

    10. My first doll was Ail-Doll Daryl. I got her with no face up as doing that was part of why i wanted to get into the hobby in the first place. I bought all the stuff for doing face ups, I'd searched high and low for tutorials of how to do face ups, I was SO excited to try :D I didn't want to miss out on that. And she turned out alright. She has tiny little eyewells which made it hard to get the lashes in properly, but I was pretty satisfied.
Now her face has since been wiped and is awaiting a new face up :XD:

    11. I'm going to order my first doll without a faceup! Already very curious about how it'll go to do that faceup myself haha.

    12. Yes, my Iplehouse Tatiana come with faceup, but just because I liked it. But the next one is going to come blank, I have special plans with her... :)

    13. Yes she is, my soom fox come with a defaut face up, and she looks great ^o^

    14. I did my own faceup! I'm an art student and I'm used to do very fine detailed painting/drawing, so this wasn't astronomically difficult for me. It was definitely a challenge, and I think I could have actually done a bit more for her faceup. Oh well. Better to do slightly too little makeup than too much (caterpillar eyebrows, anyone?).

I think for the next BJDs I get, I'm going to either get a company faceup or have a faceup artist do it. I like that I got to experience doing my own faceup and learning about the process of spraying MSC and layering on pastels of different colors, but it was just so time consuming and I'd rather hire someone else to do it and to make it look stunningly beautiful.

    15. I did get my first doll a company face up because I didn't have the tool and skill and would like to see a ''complete'' doll for the very first time:p

    16. yes, yes, but I have pastels and watercolors ready for the faceup.

    17. My first doll, Chloe (MNF) had a company faceup from Fairyland and I'm really glad that I made the decision when I ordered her because I was so overwhelmed with purchasing the right wig, shoes, clothes and it wasn't easy for me. I now send my girls to Nomyen and she does an amazing job. Her style and coloring is perfect for what I want for my characters. Chloe had purple lips - (Fairyland) and it was ok for the first year until I found my style. With her Nomyen faceup her lips are the perfect shades of pink. It's not cheap but for me, it's worth it.

    18. my first doll was JID kassia iplehouse.
I love her for ever, and I will never sell her!
She comes with iplehouse make up, and she's very beautiful.
Since, I tried body blushin for her, but make up are since a little bit complicated for me!

    19. My first girl came with her factory face up :) I'm not sure i could buy a doll blank (yet) because i'd find it hard to imagine how she could look customised. I'd prefer to keep the stock faceup for a little while and then maybe get her re-done as a custom.
I've ordered two more girls with factory face ups, but they may get a little customised makeup down the line.

    20. Yeah, my first one had a face-up...but now I usually always get them blank and do it myself, so it's unique^^ Nothing against the default, but I like to create new faces! =D
