It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. My first doll came to me secondhand, but she had the default factory faceup. I wiped it to give her my own about a week later, and it is in need of touchups that I have been too lazy to do myself lately :) I would like to send a doll off to an artist some day, but I have the mentality of "I'm an artist, why should I spend money on ___ if I can do ___ myself" xD so who knows if I'll ever actually send a doll off for faceups by someone who is not me. Only time will tell! :P

    2. Factory face up. I can't put make up on myself, thus feel I could never do it on my darling.

    3. Yes my fist Doll was dikadoll finn and I brought his full set because I was so in love with his complete set and still is lol :)

    4. Given that I had no idea on how to do face-ups and it was the first one, I chose the face-up option for the first couple of dolls. Plus I didn't know how into it I was going to be either so I didn't want to risk it.

    5. I've ordered my first doll with company make-up. Now I can do it myself. :)

    6. My first doll did not come with a faceup. It took me a few months to finish building her and getting around to doing her faceup! I'm a little better at faceups now because of all the practice. :XD:

    7. yep, id feel bad getting an expensive doll without a face >_>

    8. My first doll was Ful-set, so she was a face-up

    9. Without face-up. I've decided to do it myself, but soon I understand that it's harder than I thought. :pout: The second reason - I can't explain to someone what exactly I need, so still learning to do face-ups myself.

    10. None of my first dolls are coming with face ups.. I'm daring to attempt it myself.
I have a lot of inexpensive dolls I plan to practice on while waiting for my dolls to arrive.

    11. I like to do faceups myself, but my first doll's sculpt was too difficult, and none of my attempts were successful. Now her faceup is awesome, because it's done by a real master :)

    12. when i bought my first bjd, i bought her with a face up on. I think i might change it in the future, but i would need some experience i dont want to mess it up... :/ Any ideas on how i could practice? do i have to buy an extra head? D: What things should i buy for it also o-o. sorry too much questions haha

    13. I'm terrified to mess her up so yes my doll came with a face up. I like most of the company face ups but if one doesn't work for me I would commission one from someone.

    14. Nope! so I did faceup by myself at that time and I knew... Im not good at faceup....LOL

    15. I haven't bought my first bjd yet, and am very torn about this also! Part of me hopes to find one with the "perfect" faceup right away, and another part of me worries that I will be disappointed that I didn't try it on my own. I think that, if I buy it new, I will do my own faceup. If it's secondhand then I'll just have to see how much I like it. However, I don't like the idea of paying more for it if I'm going to wish I'd tried to do it myself! :)

    16. My first came with a factory face up :) I love doing face ups too, but for my first doll I wanted to have the face done so I could look at the amount of detail put into it~ :D

    17. Yes my first dolls came with a face-up because I wasn't a great art to paint them my self and I wanted them to look just like the picture I saw them in.

    18. Nope! I didn't like the factory face-up, so I decided to leave them blank until either I could pay to get it commissioned or my friend could do it (which he now has for both of my dolls).

    19. I purposely bought my first doll blank so I could learn to do face ups on my own. I wanted to get into the bjd hobby for the artistic side of things, and I always buy my dolls blank and do my own face ups now.

    20. I only have 2 dolls but they both came with face ups, mainly as I bought them second hand and also I wanted ones with face ups as I wasn't sure if I would bond with a "blank" doll. One day id like to have someone do a face up for me how I would like and even have a go myself sometime.
