It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. My first doll came with a factory faceup.. I was new to the hobby (and still sort of am) and I wasn't sure what I wanted in a faceup or who or how to send it to someone else. I only recently decided that I want to send her to someone who can make her look like a cracked porcelain doll. I'm wicked excited!!

What kind of sculpt do you have? Have you since decided if you want to send your doll to someone or redo his/her faceup yourself?

    2. Yes, my first doll came with company face up and its still on. Cause I still love it.

    3. Since I Know that my artistic feeling is terrible, and no tools for face-up, I bought a doll with face-up. I wish draw my own face-up to my bjd ;(...

    4. I got all my dolls with face up on and I have some face up artist which I send them my doll every time~ however I am considering to try the faceup my self maybe next week or so

    5. my first doll came with the company face-up and I was happy with it but I ended up having to redo it myself about five months after I got her because she fell and busted off one of her eyelashes :pout: anyway I was pretty confident in my artistry skills though and I still love the face I gave her ^_^ (although it probably needs redone again soon lol)

    6. Clover did yes, and it went unchanged until about last month, so near 5 years!

    7. I bought my first one used; she still had the factory face-up, which is beautiful. I would eventually like to try doing a face up.

    8. I ordered my first doll with a faceup because I LOVE the company faceup for him. It's so detailed and beautiful. :D Other dolls I might not get with a company faceup. It depends on the doll. But also, I want my doll's faceup styles to be similar.

    9. Absolutely. My 4 BJDs have all come to me with faceups. I am not good enough at it yet to do one. I have repainted a few Genes and know I need to get much better before I would try it. And don't ask my Evangeline resin who has had her lipstick redone a few times already, and has none at the moment.

    10. Yes, it came with a face up. And thank the gods for that!!!
      Because I'm still a very clumzy mske-up painter >__<

    11. I did buy my first doll with a company face up. I wasn't going to at first because I thought commissioning an artist (I know I could never do a face up myself I've experimented enough on other types of dolls haha) would be really fun and give me a more unique doll, but MoC had her in-stock with the face up, so I decided I'd buy her with it so that I wouldn't have to wait for a pre order! It actually ended up being a good choice because I'm pretty happy with her face up, however I'm still sometimes back and forth on commissioning an artist to wipe her and give her a new face up, I think it will probably happen one day, I'm just not sure when...! :XD:

    12. MY first doll came with a faceup, but I was intending to remove it as soon as he showed up just because the pictures weren't flattering and made the sculpt look horrendous. When he came in, I was speechless and I fell in love with it. It's simple and natural and it looks WAY better in person than it does in pictures. I still want to try my own hand at his face, but that'll have to wait for a time when I get sick of his current one (which wont be soon, I'll say that much)

    13. Lucky for me, I got a practice head when I ordered the clothes for my first boy in advance. So I was able to practice on that head before I got my first doll. Then I learned that watercolor pencils just weren't my cup of tea, to layer pastel little by little, and to NOT get over confident with what you're doing (There were a few times where I totally ruined the faceup because I thought I could do more on one layer than I really should've). By the time I got my first doll, I was at least a tad bit more comfortable with the process.

My first faceup on that practice head was an absolute hot mess, though. LOL

    14. My first BJD is Ringdoll Shao. I ordered him with a face up. Because I like his face up very much!
Almost all of my dolls ordered with face up, except dolls Doll Leaves (I do not like their style) and Napidoll head (the company did not make face up).

    15. No, because I have an arts background. I really wanted to push myself and it definitely worked out in the end. I agree that maybe for more timid individuals, you should get your 1st doll with the faceup.

    16. My first bjd head was a random one off ebay and it came blank. I did her faceup myself and while it really isn't that good I wont be getting rid of it ever. For sentimental reasons. :)

    17. yes, all my dolls comes with the factory faceup. Is more like "plug and play" XD

    18. not my first doll, no, cause at the time I thought I would learn how to do it myself so as to get exactly what I liked... then I got tired of it, never learnt how to do face-ups, so I bought another two and this time I got factory face-up for them

    19. My first doll came with a factory faceup. It was only +$10 so I figured why not receive a doll who is all ready to go? Once I had gathered materials, knowledge and confidence, I redid it myself months later.

    20. Yes, he has the company face up courtesy of the Junky Spot. XD

      I like how it looks.
