1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. Yes. I liked the stock face-up and I wanted instant gratification with my first. I'm okay with waiting for someone else to do a face-up when I already have one at home to fiddle with, but having nothing but a headless body for weeks would be torture. Doing it myself is out of the question. I can barely write legibly.

    2. I also ordered my first doll with faceup... I am not a face-up artist but I bought a head to try doing faceups on my own so in the future I can customize my own bjds... Seeing the beautiful work by other artists is very encouraging~

    3. Yes, mine will come with the default face up cause it really fits to him :)

    4. No, I was determined to do the faceup on my own! It was a lot of fun! :)

    5. What I consider to be my 'first' BJD did (she is OT here because she is porcelain but her faceup is china painted by the artist who made her) my first resin BJD is coming to me without a faceup because I have been dying to customize one since discovering the hobby! I'm going to mod her a little and do a fantasy faceup and blushing. I have a habit of launching myself straight into the deep end when it comes to projects though.

    6. Yes. I am not confident enough to do my own face ups yet. D:

    7. My first doll came with a company face up, but it was custom face up :)

    8. My first doll came with the company faceup, because at that time I was still learning about bjds and I didn't feel confident in trying to do a faceup, and I still don't but eventually I'd like to try and learn how to do faceups

    9. Because my first doll was an in-stock doll from Denver Doll Emporium,
I had no choice about buying a Resin Soul Feng with company faceup.
I wanted to buy a blank doll, but I did not care to wait long until they placed the order.
Since I got into the hobby to give a doll a faceup,
I removed his company faceup and gave him my own experimental faceup which he still carries to this very day.

    10. Since I was a newbie I definately got a company face up. I honestly didn't know who I could trust to do the face up so I went with what I believed was the safest way of getting my dolly to me in one piece. :)

    11. I have never ordered a doll with a face-up. Only one, my very last doll, actually came with one and that's because I bought his head from the marketplace and it didn't cost any extra (plus it's nice and natural). I had seen the default face-up for my first doll and while it's nice, I noticed that a lot of owner pics of him really did look exactly the same and I wanted him to feel more like mine. Unfortunately the poor thing has been through more face-ups (by pros since apparently I can't do face-ups worth beans) than I care to count (way more than any of my other dolls), and I still am not 100% happy with him.

    12. Yes, my first doll came with a faceup because I was too scared to do it myself. It's 3 years old now and still in very good condition. She's the only one of my crew that isn't done by me. :)

    13. I ordered my doll with the company face-up, 'cause it's gorgeous. I'm a bit scared to do a face-up myself, but I may buy a practise head eventually!

    14. I got my first bjd semi-recently (dollzone Clare), and I am in the process of doing her faceup myself (interesting experiment). haha.

    15. Mine came with nothing It was a 50cm Obitsu Joshua and I wanted him to look just like Renji from Bleach I bought the supplies and sew in his hair and painted his face and made his outfit. I did all the work on him it took me 3 days but I did it. I did this with my next doll my 3rd came with a face up and i didn't have a choice with a few of them. As a doll Doctor I prefer doing my own face up work.

    16. I got my first doll with the company face up. Partially because I loved the way it looked and partially because I was too afraid of messing it up and hating it if I did it on my own. But I'm happy with her default because it actually matches her character and I don't think I'm ever going to change it.

    17. My first doll, a Mystic Kids Evelyn, came with her default faceup. I wanted to feel like she was "done" and ready for dress-up right away. However, I did add freckles and extra blush. One of her cheeks was missed by the faceup artist--the difference was so subtle I didn't notice until I'd unwrapped her and had her for about a week. No way I was sending her back over that. I'm actually glad I got to add my own extra touches.

For my next doll, I've almost decided for sure that I'll do my own faceup. If I could only figure out what happened to my box of pastels....

    18. My doll came with a dirty face from a poorly wiped previous face up :|

    19. I ordered my first doll blank, since I wanted to try doing face up myself and I wanted the doll to feel 'mine'. I figured that if I fail I can always send her to someone to do a face up for me.

    20. I got my first doll with a faceup. I wasn't sure I would like it, but the thought of sending a doll off to a faceup artist was kind of daunting. I ended up loving her faceup so it was all for the best.
