1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. my first BJD came with the company face-up but I always knew that she were going to have a face-up done by me, I've been practising a lot on other dols (barbie-monsterhigh-everafterhigh-blythe-pullip) little by little getting better, so, when the company face-up got a little chipped spot, I just wiped her face off *NOT THE EYEBROWSS THO, I'm not ready for that yet*
I recently ordered a minisupia Hayul, with no face-up, Im planning what to do on her face, but I still don't know, I think It will depend on the personality she will have.

    2. Yea, but if you can do it yourself, why pay extra? Hehe, I guess that's easier said than done!:XD:

    3. I don't want any of my dolls face ups to be done by anyone but me. I originally got into these dolls because my "excuse" (hehe) to get one was that they are really artistic. I'm not saying its wrong to get a face up from someone else, and I don't hate people who have them either. It's just my opinion :) They make your doll a lot more customizable, though!! ;)

    4. My first doll came with a faceup cause i buy it in a forum. But i delete it & will pay for a news makeup for she have the style & expression i want.

    5. My first doll came with faceup and I'm happy with it so far. My first pre-order doll came blank and I had Sally Chandler do a beautiful faceup on her. I'd like one day to try a simple faceup, but the really great ones include more layering, etc. that I don't have the talent for!

    6. My first doll came with a company face up. I paid extra for it, but it was very worth it :)

    7. My first doll came with the default face-up because I thought it was just gorgeous. Add that to the fact that it was my first doll, and I didn't want him away from home even longer than three months, so I decided on the default face-up. Have not regretted it yet.

    8. Nope! My doll was discontinued when I decided to get him, so he came as a faceup-less head from DDE. xD He's still without a faceup today, mostly because I can't decide on what his faceup should look like.

    9. Nope~ I got my first doll blank, because I had been using a practice head to learn how to face up dolls and I wanted to try it on him myself. Painting your own doll's face makes it easier to bond with them, in my opinion. Plus, if I get good enough at it someday, I might be able to offer commissions! That would be cool >.<

    10. My first doll is coming with company faceup. But I'll know I will eventually start making faceups myself.

    11. My first one came with the factory face-up and still has it. I've had him for 6 and a half years. The only thing I knew about bjds was that I wanted one. It was somewhat of a reckless decision to get him lol. But I've never regretted it :)

    12. I have not received my first doll yet; however I ordered her blank!
I've practiced on other non-BJD dolls and already know how to use the materials for BJD faceups.
I'm pretty familiar with the texture of resin and how the materials work on it when sealed (working with other items).

Having an airbrush really helps too! I enjoy using it for certain things more than pastels, and the other way around! Can't wait to get my doll in from Angel Studios.

Almost tempted to get a doll in stock from DD, if I find one I like.

    13. My 1st doll came with company's faceup (it was very simple one but i had no idea to make it by myself - i have tried on some barbies and the result was awful:)

    14. My first doll was a Mystic Kids Gene, and his faceup was so gorgeous I couldn't NOT buy it. x'D

    15. My first doll was a trade with a friend who did a very cute face-up. I was so excited about doing it myself though I went on and talked about how I wanted to redo it and it wasn't very tactical of me, since I think I gave her the idea I didn't like the face-up she did. Oops..! I still redo his face-up from time to time to practise and experiment. (IMPL Doll Verne)

    16. my two boy is come with default face up when placing order.
after a while, i decided that if i would get new doll, i would prefer no face up, and i face up them on my own.
i think that will be great on face up on myself on what style i wanted to have :)

    17. My first dolls came with a factory face up. Although since I'm an artist, I had to remove one of the girls makeup and try it myself.

    18. yes. And I'm glad it did. Commissioning those always makes me a nervous wreck. I'm very lucky my sister is a talented figure painter. I always bribe her to do my faceups. I've only commissioned one outside faceup and it almost killed me. I have to have my babies at home. (over protective)

    19. He did not! I did send him away for a professional face up however :)

    20. My first doll came with the company default faceup. I am very glad that he did! While I think I would enjoy doing faceups someday, it is very nice to have a good, professional sample to enjoy and study. Looking at his default faceup, I can already tell that it has more details and skill then I could do even with lots of practice.
