1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. My first doll was second-hand, and came with the company faceup - it's very unlikely I'll ever change it unless something devastating happens to it, but he's already survived about 4 years with the same one!

The first two dolls I ordered brand-new I ordered with company faceups. The girl I didn't want to come blank, wanted her to have eyebrows and a little colour, and the company faceup for the boy suits his character well (pretty plain/natural), so his won't change. That ended up with a happy accident of them sending the girl with a blank head, but when I emailed them about it they sent me another head with the faceup, so now I can keep the company faceup AND get her a custom one!

My 4th & 5th dolls came second hand, one with company faceup and one that I think was done by one of his previous owners (he's second or third-hand to me). And I ordered my 6th doll blank, because I was worried I wouldn't like the company faceup and I knew I'd eventually be getting it wiped anyway.

    2. Yep. My first doll came with face-up because I was too scared to send it out for commissoons... But now I like commissions more.

    3. I got my first doll with company faceup, because not having much experience with them in person I didn't feel confident doing anything else. My next two dolls came with faceups as well but the third I bought blank from another collector and after doing his faceup I've gotten the rest of them blank (except my Realpuki. Bitty little thing that he is I didn't feel confident). I've thought about wiping the three who still have factory faces but I've never gotten around to it. I've done little things with them though, like my BBB Sprite has piercings all over his face.

    4. My first doll (a Leekeworld Reika) came with a faceup. It suit me when I first got her because I was a total newbie with no faceup skills or supplies and no desire to ship my new doll off. As soon as I had the resources though I wiped her lol...the metallic faceup she came to me with was the exact opposite of what her mori girl character needed!

    5. Not my first doll. He is IOS and I didn't see a face up option, but I enjoyed giving him a face up myself...despite his wonky eyebrows :O I have ordered another doll with the company face up though, namely because the doll with the face up really resembles the character I wanted to buy her for so I decided to invest the monies this time.

    6. My first doll is a second-hand and come with ex-commison,but I sent him to onther commision.

    7. Yes, I had not idea about face ups so I ordered my first doll with one, now this same doll is out with a face up artist getting a new look.

    8. My first doll was Peak Woods Mori Moth, I got her second hand so she came with her company face up. I've been thinking about getting her a new look but she just looks so cute haha

    9. I got my first doll with faceup because of one solid reason.. I am not confident with my painting skills and knew very few people who have BJDs to do the face up in case I ruin my doll. I kind of felt sad when I didn't know I could request a faceup from the company so I had their default faceup. Now I'm scared to remove it

    10. I got my first bjd with the default face-up, though initially I really wanted to do it myself. Luckily I ordered him with face-up though, I realized I was more nervous about doing anything/ modification than I think haha >< at least now I can look at his face-up and see how it's done.

    11. Nope! I ordered my first doll blank (and I'm now so glad that I did) and the reason was... I'd done my research and had read a lot more about 'how to do a face-up' than 'how to remove a face-up'! So since I wanted to do my own at some point I though "I'll just go ahead and do it straight away!"

    12. my first doll came with a company face up. back then I didnt know I could get a custom faceup.

    13. Heck no! I couldn't wait to try myself. :mwahaha

    14. No, I wanted to make it myself since its part of the fun for me and that's why for me they always need to be blank.

    15. One of my dolls has the default face up and the other came with a custom face up. Both are secondhand.

    16. I ordered my Pipos Baha with the default pink face up! I loved her blushing, especially in her ears! Too cute! :D

    17. I decided not to get a face up when I ordered my first girl, and I think I did it because I wanted to do it. It turned out okay.

    18. My first BJD is a secondhand and yes, she came with faceup. I think that, at least for the first doll one gets, it's easier (and better) if it has already a faceup.

    19. Yes. And it's a beautiful faceup; AS does a great job! I just wish I had gotten her body blushing, too....

    20. I've ordered my first with faceup. I'm too afraid of messing up and Angell-Studio are suppose to do very nice faceups too :)
