1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. Since I am not an artist (at all) , I sent my doll away immediately :D

    2. Mine did because MoC had her in stock with the face up so I figured it would be better to get her directly than endure the wait, plus I thought the company face up was okay. I'd still like to one day send her to an artist to have it redone but I'm still not so sure what I want for her but it's on my list of plans! :) I would love to be able to do it myself but I'm not so confident in my abilities yet. But I hope one day I will work up the courage to try it!!

    3. Yes, but I accidentally ruined it within a few weeks during a photoshoot. (Oops.)

    4. Yes, my first BJD came with a face up since i'm not really good at this and don't wanna wait for another time to send him to a face up artist XD Beside, the company face up is gorgeous :">

    5. Yes company face up. Thinking of getting it redone but I'm not sure. I have the materials to do it myself but I'm not sure if I trust myself to paint my first baby

    6. First doll was something planned years in advance so I already had a faceup artist in mind who the seller on DoA sent the head to directly. :) She did a perfect job and my character has truly come to life.

    7. I got my first BJD with a faceup because I wanted to at least have an example of what a good faceup should look like before attempting to do one of my own. I've only practiced on two different sculpts so far though as I've always somehow ended up purchasing dolls that already come with their default faceups. But now I have two Soom dolls and one Dollshe Saint that have yet to be painted so that's going to be fun and challenging. It's actually nice to purchase blank canvases so I can change their look every few months.

    8. Mine came with the company face-up since I really can't and don't know how to apply anything myself. Yeah, I agree. It's a good idea (most of the time) to get company face up for the first doll if you're still new to the hobby ☺

    9. I ordered my first doll blank!

    10. I ordered my first doll with a face up since I didn't have any practice and I wasn't sure of my ability. I have a second doll arriving soon who will be blank so if everything goes well I'll probably be wiping her soon.

    11. Both of my two had face-ups when I got them, some day I'd like to be able to do it myself (along with making wigs and clothes and minor mods) but I am very glad that I got mine with face-ups since otherwise they probably still wouldn't have them and I'd be so bummed about that.

    12. I ordered two dolls at the same time for my firsts. One has a faceup because he is a full set, but his sleeping faceplate is blank, and the other doll will be blank.

    13. Blank doll scares me quitely! I wouldn't want to make any mistakes and ruin the doll.

    14. I got my first doll with a face-up. I didn't know anything about doing them myself when i got her. Now I've learned how to do them so have ordered some blank dolls to see how I will do on them.

    15. Yes, I bought a doll second hand and she came with a face up. I kept it because it suits her character, but I do so wish I knew who did it! :)

    16. I got my Iplehouse EID Jessica was a face-up, and I think that has been what's made me not bond with her at all. I'm totally for custom face-ups now and seriously regret getting a stock face-up. :doh

    17. Yes, I bought a used DIM Edmon off EBay, and he came with a company face-up. Although he doesn't quite fit in with all the more realistic dolls that have come after him, I've never seriously considered changing his stylized makeup or his rather alarming gold wig. He looks so alert and happy! He's due for new clothes, though.

    18. Yes, both of my dolls have company face ups (Bambi Crony & Doll Leaves). The pictures appealed to me when I ordered them and I enjoy the costuming and wigs more then the face painting. But...I am working on my first face ups now and ordered practice heads to play with so I won't mess up anything too expensive!

    19. While I'm scared I'll ruin the faceup, sometimes I know exactly what I have in mind and the company faceup just doesnt do it for me, especially if i want to go for a fantasy look. I'd also get a cheaper head to practice on before applying the face up to the real doll.

    20. My first doll was a gift from my best friend, and she ordered her with a face up and body blushing. A lot of the blushing has scratched off, I don't think I'll get a doll blushed again unless it's a limited doll I won't be changing into different outfits.
