1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. I did order a face up on my first doll. I would love to do face ups, but I live in a very small and very poorly ventilated apartment so I will have to wait till I find a nicer place to start doing face ups in.

    2. My first doll was just a super random yosd I fell in love with on ebay, she already had a company face-up. I totally was not even planning to buy her, or to get a yosd size doll, haha...

But my second doll who I usually think of as my first, was an unassembled kit : O
I did do her face-up myself, I was a bit nervous, but figured I could always redo it until I was happy, or send her off for a face-up. But I was really happy how she turned out, and I really like painting my dolls myself (even if they are difficult sometimes!)

    3. My first doll came with a face up and so have all the ones I've gotten since except for the head I got to practice face ups on. But I'm still not as good as I'd like to be so if/when I get another it'll probably come with the default face up too :sweat For the most part I like the defaults, but someday I might send them off to someone to get a custom done. I did buy one second hand that came with a custom face up that I LOVE.

    4. the first doll i ordered was a kid delf bory girl, and i did get her with a faceup! thinking back on it i was so young i never even liked her, or her face. what a crazy kid i was! but i love ordering dolls with faceups if i love the makeup. it's less hassle for me!

    5. Yeah her company face up was way too sweet to pass on

    6. yes my first doll came with a face up, the only problem was He was originally a female sculpt so even though I ordered him as a head and male body he came with a generic female face up. Makes sense now but at the time it was surprised by ALL THAT PINK but I also did not care LOL. He has since been through several face ups and it all boy.

    7. My first doll was an AprilStory Olivia, and she didn't come with the face-up. But I asked a local face up artist to help me with her face-up.
I have been wanting to practice face-up, but I have been procrastinating. :(

    8. My first bjd was a Resinsoul Ya. She was supposed to come with a faceup but didn't. It forced me to learn how to do my own faceups! First one was not very good and I put her away for awhile. But the second time I learned how to find the look for her and not just try to copy something I watched on UTube.

    9. Yes my first doll came with face-up is a bobobie DAI 58cm from junky spot and i loved the freebies woot.

    10. My first doll not come with faceup . Just because when i started into this hobby i really want improve my self for doing a faceup doll . But maybe next time i'll order with faceup just if i love they faceup

    11. Yes, because she was only available with a face-up at the time. Looking back on it her face-up was pretty bland so I wish I wouldn't of spent the extra money.

    12. Yup! I have no experience with painting dolls, and I'm too scared to even try so I just opted for a faceup :S I haven't received the doll yet but I'm hoping they did a good job on it, and listened to my requests.

    13. I'm in the same predicament. This summer I moved to a much smaller place, and there is nowhere to work outside. I have chemical sensitivity, I can't use the sealant indoors. I bought all the supplies to do faceups when I still lived in my other place. It had a nice big outdoor patio where I had planned to work, but regretfully that's no longer possible.

I do still have 2 dolls without faces, however, so I will need to hire someone to do their faceups.

I'm not unhappy with the factory faceups I have. I prefer subtle natural faces, so factory faceups suit me just fine.

    14. My first doll was a Mystic Kids Caroline! i fell in love with her, so i ordered her with a face up (their price for face up is pretty affordable too!) and didnt want to risk not loving her as much as now when im still new at this hobby!
since i got my 2nd girl months later (blank) and decided to try face up, now i feel like just adding some additional touches to my Caroline :3

    15. Yes, I ordered her with the default faceup, which I have since wiped because I didn't care for it. I'm planning to send her for a new faceup. I've painted other kinds of dolls before, but the size (she's a tiny) and the materials I need to use make it difficult for me to get the look I want. I've ordered another tiny and ordered her blank because I didn't like the default again. I also ordered a mini with the default because I liked that particular faceup. If I hadn't, she'd have been ordered blank as well.

    16. My first doll did have a default company faceup! I've since changed my mind and order most of my dolls blank, but it was so nice to not have to worry about sending my first doll off for a faceup.

    17. My first doll was secondhand, and she came with a faceup, which she still has, even 4 years later, same one! ^_^ The first doll I ordered brand new was a Resinsoul through Junkyspot, so it came with a faceup automatically. Now, I do my own faceups, so I never care about the doll coming with one, unless I REALLY like it. ^_^;

    18. no I tried the faceup myself and eventually commissioned someone :(

    19. I ordered mine with a factory face up since I don't want to receive my doll without it. I eventually sent him to a face up artist <3

    20. Nope! I start on her lovely face THIS week (SoFla humidity is finally low enough that I feel OK using Testor's. I know it's a bit yellow, but I'm going thin with it.)

Here's all her faceup progress photos for the curious.
