1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. My first doll was a $20 Goodreau that i picked up at a local auction. She had the factory face up, which was meant to be a baseline for the collector to know where to customize her. I sent her off to a face up artist and got back a magnificent doll that I still have. I don't buy dolls without face ups if I can help it. And when they have crummy ones, i send them right off before we bond.

    2. My first doll (head) didn't come with a face up, and didn't have one for about 4-5 months until I could find the "right" person to do it. I'm a little picky, and cautious of sending things like that to unknown people. But I found a great artist. My head's so handsome now. lol

I really need a body. :pout:

    3. My first two dolls both came with the factory faceup. I am getting ready to send my new baby off to be done up very soon and I'm really excited about it. I would like to learn to do it myself eventually though, so that I can really put my own vision onto my dolls.

    4. My first doll did come with a company faceup (she was a fullset deal). My second doll (who has yet to arrive heh heh) I did not order with a faceup, as I have a sort of specific faceup in mind and my sweet friend has offered to help me with him ^-^ The idea of doing a faceup myself - even on a test head! - sort of terrifies me ^^;

    5. Yep! I think it's a good idea to have face-up for your first doll if you're a newbie and don't want to damage it! I got factory face-up for my first doll and I love it! Even if i don't in the future, i can always replace it once I get good enough to do one myself or find a face-up artist near to me that I love and trust!

    6. My doll came with a face-up. For the most part, the factory face-ups are really nice and unless you're going for a specific look or love doing the face-up yourself, I think they're great.

    7. My first doll had a company faceup which was actually really cute, but not what I wanted for them. It's wiped + redone now.

    8. My first doll was a blue blood doll Phny. I got her with the face up and over 5 years later she still has it. So much of what I feel in love with was the sweet face that she came with. :)

    9. My first doll was an Iplehouse Gentle Soori and he cme with company face up. I think it suits him well and I'm very happy with it. I have some blank heads that I plan on using to practise face ups on.

    10. My first ever doll ( a Luts kid delf Carrot ) had factory paint, including body blushing. I've never regretted it, personally it was one of those dolls who I couldn't see with any other faceup that I'd like better, so I went for factory.

    11. I bought my first doll second hand (DOT E-an) and she came with her default face-up. I thought it was gorgeous, but it didn't suit her character. Still, it was far too pretty to wipe so I ended up buying another head. Now I tend to buy my dolls blank. :P

    12. If I like the default, I'd get the default. Both my Iplehouse JID Tania and Fairyland Littlefee Ante have default face ups.

    13. The first bjd doll that arrived to me was a Tessa by Dale Zentner and she has a beautiful face up!

    14. This pretty much sums up my own feelings exactly.

My first doll came with a face-up, and bar the occasional head that only comes blank (Fairyland event heads, Migi - back in the day), all of my dolls -- very deliberately -- come with a face-up.

I admire face-up artists. I really do. I also, in a way admire those who have an incredibly specific look in mind and are patient enough to either bring it to life themselves or send it off to get it done.

For me though, I'm perfectly happy to make my dolls my own by choosing their eyes, wigs, and fashion styles.

    15. I didn't order with company face up. The doll itself was expensive enough and I had quite good trust on myself haha XD and all these helpful tutorials aiding me :)

    16. I feel the same way! My first doll'll be coming with her default faceup - I'd love to try my hand at it myself but as a newbie I have no confidence and I'd prefer to have a beautiful, professionally-done doll than ruin a good head with my own work lol. I'm thinking of buying a cheap practice head for learning, though!

    17. Sure did. I ordered a Luts Soony and got her with the default faceup. Back then you could still request particular faceups, but I never did because I was clueless heh. If I was to start all over again, I would still order a first doll with a faceup. I'm too impatient to "wait" to get a doll, and then send it on to a artist and wait all over again. Plus, a lot of the time, a company faceup is what "sells" me on a particular sculpt anyway.

    18. My first doll came with a faceup, but I didn't care for it after awhile so I removed it and am still working on putting one back on her.
My other doll and floating head have faceups.

    19. My first bjd had the company faceup and it still really nice today, after going through two different owners and then me :) I love him to bits (Souldoll Chiron in human form).:love

    20. I got the factory face-up with my Kid Delf Luts Ani. She actually came with a blank head as well, which made me appreciate the faceup just that much more. I think the heads looks slightly creepy blank, honestly. XD
