1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. I did not avail for a face-up. I prefer to do the face-up instead, since I tend to lean on a really gothic look, and the company I bought my doll from does not seem to cater to that customization. It also would be fun to experiment and such. :`)

    2. My Lance did come with a faceup! I was gunning for one with a faceup anyway since I had no clue what I'd want him to look like yet, but I didn't mind either way. But he came with a very wonderful one, and so I'm happy regardless. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that it's pretty common for more people to get their first doll with a faceup than without. I might be wrong on that, though.

    3. My first BJD was Layla by Kaye Wiggs....she came with the perfect face-up and still has it. I've given a few of my dolls face-ups since then and really enjoy it but there are some that I love the factory face-up on, so I leave them untouched.

    4. She came with her faceup that was so hard to remove. SoulDoll has amaizing faceup so i thought it would be amaizing to buy her with it. Even ifit didnt fit her personality still loved the faceup.:hamster:

    5. Yes, my first bjd I purchased a Dim Sum Leisha came with a full face up. Beautiful and sweet face.
And so did the other bjds I've purchased, they all came with face ups already finished.
And now, this year, I've set for myself a new project to create my own face up on a blank Luts boy head. Thank goodness for tutorials, photos on the internet showing how to do face ups for bjds.

    6. Nope, neither my first nor second came with one. They both went through some pretty horrible ones as I learned (slowly) how to do them decently. :P

    7. Yup he came with his default faceup because I did not have any confidence or experience on doing a faceup by myself. Luckily I ordere him during an event where they sent me an extra blank head for free and I have been using that to practice since!

    8. My first doll came with the company face up and still has it. It's nothing special but it's part of what made me fall in love with in the first place so I probably won't ever change it. Other than her I prefer to buy them blank and do my own face ups, with the exception of LEs.

    9. I have said it in another thread already - I would love to do my own faceup, but I think for the first doll or two I'll take a company one, just to be safe, and to be able to open the box straight away and get my doll set up :)

    10. I bought mine with a faceup, mostly because I was afraid to start with a doll that was completely blank and I KNEW that I wouldn't have time to do my own faceup at the time (my second doll is having this problem now). I couldn't stand the idea of my first doll not having a face for the first few weeks of owning so I went ahead and got the faceup. It's interesting I came across this thread cause I was actually thinking about wiping the faceup but I don't know if I have the heart to.

    11. I got my first doll with a face up, I am wayyyy to nervous to do that kinda thing by myself! It cost a little extra but well worth it I think! :D

    12. My doll has no face! Even after getting her several weeks ago. I do plan on sending her off to get a faceup done, but I'm waiting on the artist to have time again

    13. Unfortunately the artist from which I purchased the doll could not do a face up or a wig for technical reasons. So I sent my doll to a faceup artist and after the faceup will be done she is going to travel to Russia for a custom wig and clothing :)

    14. I ordered mine with a company faceup. I really liked the company faceup and thought it was perfect, and while I have had some prior faceup experience before I had ordered her, I'm not yet at the skill level I want to be at before attempting a faceup on a bjd.

    15. My first doll hasn't arrived yet but she will not have a faceup when she gets here. A faceup option wasn't offered when I bought her so she'll end up being completely blank when she gets here. I'm not too worried about it though. I've been doing a lot of research on different faceup artists and I've already found a couple that I really like. The only hard part about getting her faceup done is deciding what I want done with her. It's a difficult decision to make! I'm glad I have a while to think about it.

    16. I ordered my first doll with the company face-up, from DDE, and two extra wigs as the default wig did not resemble in the least, the company pic. I really like her look. One of the extra wigs is like the company pic, the other is so completely different but both really look great on her and she appears to be a completely different doll with each of them. I will eventually change her eye color, but not ready to yet. I have at least two outfits planned for her that I need to make. I wanted exactly the doll in the company pic and was not ready to try a face-up.

Now, just 5 months later, I have another doll that I am waiting on. I bought the body and head separately, as I needed a head for a workshop on face-ups at the con I am going to later this summer. I really looked long and hard for a sculpt on the body and head that I liked and was pretty sure I could get in time for the con. On this doll I will not mind changing out the face-up and experimenting on, as the company pic left so many possibilities open. Very excited to get her and try this.

    17. honestly, my first three came with face ups. My Shiwoo and El both had default face ups and I got a custom one for my Crobidoll
Nia. but after that I started really liking to do my own so my last two guys I bought blank and have wiped everyones original face ups

    18. My first doll will be with a face up. Later down the road, I would love to learn how to do face ups on my own tho.

    19. I ordered my first doll - Bluefairy TF May with company faceup. I still consider company faceups while ordering bluefairies, as I looove them. ;) Back then, I was 100% sure, that making faceup is nearly impossible for me, and I would ruin my doll. That was so stupid.. ;P

    20. I have no experience at doing faceups (or anything art related for that matter), so I bought my first doll with the company faceup. When the doll arrived the faceup was everything I wanted, so she'll be keeping it. While I didn't want butcher my first doll by attempting a faceup, I am interested in learning, and I think my next BJD-related purchase will be a blank head plus faceup supplies.
