It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Did your FIRST doll come with a faceup?

Dec 16, 2013

    1. My first doll (when I'm ready to order him) won't be coming with a faceup.
I'm going to be practicing on Monster High dolls in the meantime, so I'll be able to give him a faceup myself when I get him!
The character I'm going to make with him is incredibly personal to me, so I'd love to do the face on my own -- even if I don't get it right the first time, I won't mind trying again later. (:

    2. Yes- My first ones came with face-ups. I do face ups, but never know when I will get to them -- so if I order them with a face I can use them for photo shoots until I decide. Mine usually have developed a "personality" , or a "way of being" y the time I decide to make changes. But - anything you do is great. I send some out as well.

    3. I ordered my first doll with a faceup. I did well in art class back in high school, but the one thing I never was able to do was faces. Couldn't draw 'em, couldn't paint 'em. Since I was shelling out the bucks for a fairly expensive doll anyway, I figured I may as well shell out a few more bucks for a faceup. The only alternatives were attempting a faceup of my own or sending Johnny away as soon as he got here, and I didn't want to do either one. Angel of Dream does very nice default faceups, by the way. When Johnny arrived he looked like a million bucks, and he still does.

    4. My first ordered doll as well as the next two bjds to join my family all had face ups. The first I ordered him with a face up and I'm glad I did because even though it wasn't expensive (he's a bobobie elfkin so $10) it looks precious on him. My mom gave my sister and I each an ABS bjd for Christmas that came with face ups and I got a Pipos baby Cheshire from DDE with face up but then, they only had them in stock with face ups and its cute so I wasn't going to argue. Since then I've gotten an abs and a resin baby, blank who I will be attempting to face up/blush myself once I can get some good sealer and I'm both nervous and excited for it.
I probably will still order company face ups if I can afford it for a lot of my dolls if only for the convenience but I may change my mind about it in the future depending on how my skills hold up.

    5. Yeah.. I thinks first doll with face-up is better. But if you want to do yourself, it need many practice..

    6. No, I had something specific in mind and wanted to get it done by a faceup artist I admire.

    7. Yep. So far all my dolls came with a company faceup. I could likely paint one myself (I make a living at being an artist) but I'm to lazy to invest/research in sealants etc.

    8. My doll come with faceup, will order with company faceup.

    9. I'll be ordering mine without. I'm going to try my best to do a faceup and I think I'll do alright, since I have a lot of experience with faces from drawing and such (though I'm sure it's pretty different) and have poured over countless faceup tutorails, but if it ends up as crap, I'll wipe her and send her off to an artist. I wouldn't get the company faceup though, it doesn't look anything like my character, and just wouldn't work (she has facial tattoos and white eyebrows/ lashes).

    10. I got my first doll with a custom faceup from Luts, back when that was an option. I don't know if I would have gone for the default one if that was the only choice. Now I usually order them blank since my wife is a faceup artist :3nodding:

I do have a couple with default faceups, and I'm very fond of them, but I really like designing their look myself.

    11. I got my first doll with the default face up because I thought it was perfect how it was. I also (regrettably) got body blushing, because I thought she would look odd without it. Now I feel like it was a waste of money, but she still had the default face up I originally got for her.

    12. No- my first doll came blank, as I wanted to get a doll mainly for practice and sewing. The doll was meant to be an artistic outlet!

    13. if its a faceup i enjoy, i would buy it with the faceup otherwise i usually have them blank and just send them to a really good friend of mine :)

    14. my first doll came with a faceup, but i repainted her after two hours.

    15. Luckily, my first doll came with a custom face-up his previous owner had done that already fit the look I had in mind for him.

    16. If you're talking about the first doll I ordered then no, he didn't come with a face up. But mine was a Minimee from DIM and it came with two heads when you ordered by yourself and not a in a GO. So one of the heads I sent out for a face up and the other one after looking it up and researching a bunch online and on this forum I gave it a go. I love to draw and color anyway so it wasn't a big deal. I found out that I did a better job than the head I got a custom face up from. Later on I wiped the first head and decided to redo it.

    17. I ordered my 1st doll without face up.
I figured I have been doing make up and illustrations for so long, It would be weird if I cannot get a decent first try.

Resin is definitely different from any canvasses that I have tried. Still, I was very satisfied with the result and I am never ordering a doll with face up :).

    18. Yes mine came with a face up
But I ended up wiping it shortly after and sending the head out for a face up

    19. I ordered my first doll with the default faceup. I've actually ordered all of my dolls with a company faceup(I'm too scared to do them myself :sweat)

    20. My first doll came with the factory face up. Not sure if my next one will, I would like to do it on my own at some point.
