Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

I'm not liking this. Boooo!

They even use the DoA member's minimee pics on the website....O_O

 

Yeah. Well, it wasn't the best idea.

 

I just bought a Dollmore Model and the resin matches Minimee perfectly.
I put my second Tess' head on the body and she looks superb (except I'm going to revise her face-up)
...it's even a better match than my Domuya Fin Flexi Perennial body but I love the Flexi too!

 

This girl is absolutely AMAZING... it's hard to believe she's a doll

Umm.. well I don't know what to think about this at the moment, but they did mention that it wasn't theirs:

"This is information from magazine "Haunt Doll*."

This is customer's real minimee from other company!

For people who never heard about minimee!

I'm pretty sure all they're saying is they will offer the same service, as in, custom sculpting based on photos and illustrations... and they took a magazine article as reference so I think they can use the DOA members' MiniMee photos...

So technically, I don't think anyone can say anything because you can't 'own the rights' to make custom sculpts So while I guess it's not nice to Denny and his team since they took the risk being the first, it's a bit like saying all other BJD companies aren't allowed to make dolls from resin and using standard SD-size-ranging because Volks started first...

I do think it's a little silly that they named it almost exactly the same, though.

Anyway - IMO because all of us know Denny started it, and we've all come to expect a certain quality and customer service, there will still be lots of people who will go to Denny to create their dolls (plus, that aside, Dolkot is charging more >_>;; )

 

That's so odd... I tried my head on a Dollmore body, and the resin match was way off, the body was much pinker than my head... yours matches dangit. I really liked the Dollmore male Model body too...

 

But although they stated that the souce wasn't theirs, they put the Dolkot logo on the images. The images aren't theirs.

 

Oh, I didn't notice that o.O I wonder why they'd do that, since they said it wasn't theirs, what'd be the point? Weird...

 

I'll stick to Denny like gum in your hair! So you would have to cut me out to get rid of me...
He has shown me nothing more than the utmost respect and is easy to communicate with.
I have seen what his team can do, so they are the best in my eyes.

And how good can a company be if they already steal pictures with heads NOT made by them? I think that says more than enough already about their competence.

**EDIT** after reading what BPB said: it's still not good for sales. Because if people read that these heads are made by a different company I would like to know what THEY (DolKot) can make before actually ordering through them. DolKot is now actually advertising for DIM XDDD

 

My Dollmore is pinker, but due to the paleness of the Minimee (new body) and the Dollmore (1+ year old) resin alittle blushing would make it a very reasonable match ...

Does anyone have a white skin Minimee? what is the WS like? have Dollstown, Domuya and Luts and they are all different would love to hear how the WS could match up ...

I agree on that! They are starting it all wrong, with upping up the price and using images on from a place where Denny has a strong foothold!

I bet if they used their own dolls and didnt “steal” images from whoever they took it from they wouldn’t be so badly received!

I already said this on the other thread, but they are going to have a hard time swaying people on this forum to buy their products as I will ONLY work with Denny because he has helped me and so many others on here extensively with such kindness and generosity.

But hey, maybe the creator of Mini Me had another forum that he/she is well known at!?

 

If that is the case they would have an established portfolio for sample/example purposes. I find it odd Dollkot has used the same name, it is a shame that Denny had not Copyrighted it (correct me if I am wrong).

I also agree - they have started off completely on the wrong foot ... will be interesting to see how this new 'line' for Dollkot pans out ...

 

Well on the other thread it was posted who the images and the article belonged to. And Haute Doll can make them take it down because I doubt they had permission to use such materials!

Also the owners of the pictures could ask them to remove their pictures. I don’t want to be mad at DollKot, but they brought this wrath on themselves!

I mean the “Minimee” is a great idea and if I was a good sculptor I would have done it too. However I would never used someone else images and I wouldn’t even make the name close to what Denny uses!

This can only end badly for DollKnot…

 

Since it's published, it's actually more of an issue. They can't use copyrighted material - those images and that text "belong" to Haute Doll now in addition to the owners of the dolls themselves.

The dolls pictured belong to DoA members evildolly, dechanique, cheshiretiffy, and me.

 

O.O its really, really weird to see my face on that website.....

 

That's o_O... interesting. Agreeing with what everyone else said. Why in the world would anyone order that without knowing what they can do first? And using the minimee name is kind of.... ?

Whatever happens I only know I want to stick behind Denny/DIM's minimee o.O
