1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

Dec 26, 2006

    1. Ooohh I see! That's really helpful! Thanks, Oracle12 for the detail!
That's a really good tip to search for photos that are within the same time period (since my celeb is middle aged especially...).

Hmm, but so like... in 99% of the pictures of the celeb I want, she has a really big smile... like HUUUGE (she's got a big mouth XD). Is it ok to request a non-smiling expression even if it's harder to find many photos of her that way? I'll have to try and search for premiere pics too... but she's in her 40's so most of them show a lot more wrinkles and bags than her overly-photoshopped promo photos, hahahahha.

    2. I'm sure requesting a non-smiling expression would be alright. If you don't like the rest of her face, but she has the expression you want -- take a page from Kazzii's book and just crop her lips or expression and tell Denny it's a reference as to what you would like her expression to be like. I'm sure he can make it work.

    3. hang on, reading back I just noticed Denny's edit:
"- Additional head : 70$ ==>40$ (Except Group orders). it's only for individual orders."

I'm not trying to be rude at all here, just voicing my concern. I'm very ready to be corrected, and fully realise that as someone in a GO I'm biased...

I think it's wonderful to offer extra heads for $40 instead of $70, and I think it goes a long way towards making people happier about delays (which I fully understand are unavoidable :sweat ) and is just a generally wonderful way to get people to order more minimees.

But surely allowing extra heads of existing molds to be cast for the $40, and refunding extra heads but not those of GOs is a little unfair?

It feels like we're being penalised for organisation... because I don't really see the difference...

    4. Kuru, I think about 80% of orders now are GOs.. so if Denny gave that deal for them, he'd be losing an incrediable amount of money. It's just not feasble. It'd save me a small fortune with all the DEG heads I'm getting, but I can understand why he can't offer it. At least with how the deal is now, he's still getting more money on top of current orders.

I can't think of any heads from other orders that I'd like... except for one x_x; *whimper*

    5. Hm, I dunno Kaz - I think Kuru has a point... I understand it's a large segment of the project's income, but it does seem a little unfair on people participating in the GOs. Why shouldn't they be able to join the offer?

The current GO prices for the heads are very good - don't get me wrong - but so is $70 per individual recast; why should there be any different between a Group Order and one person ordering 8 extra heads? (Granted, that probably doesn't happen especially often, but still. XD)

    6. Yes, my point exactly. I appreciate that there are a lot of GOs, but what's the difference between a group order of 10 people and a person who orders 8 extra heads for themselves..?

    7. Well I'm thinking that Denny'll probably put a limit on the number of recasts.. If a person got their regular 2 heads, then was to order another 8 with a mind to sell them on, that would be considered a group order, surely. Doesn't matter whether they have buyers or not.. a lot of the celebrity minimees are in demand.

Or maybe he'll let people do it.. and yeah, then I think it's bad, and I agree with you.

Anyway, I'm going to get a recast or two of Kyo, but only for my use (I want to sand his frown off and carve a smile into his lips :3). I still have one that I already ordered in hopes of selling, and I think I'll probably let that one go to someone else as planned.

    8. Group orders are usually organized to help share the cost of a Minimee. By allowing group orders, Denny and DIM are actually losing money. That is to say, instead of each individual user paying 430.00 they are pay substantially less for their Minimee. If Denny offered this price cut to group orders, he'd be losing even more money, and as he said earlier he's already losing a great deal of money by selling them to us at their current price.

    9. I think the Group Orders are a pretty sweet promo tool for the project, to be honest - they're bringing business in, more than anything else - especially all these celebrity musician orders. A lot of people are finding that once they've got a Minimee of their favourite band member, they want to bring the rest home too.

    10. Hmmm, yah, that's me alright x_x; I'm desperate to get all the boys home. If I could do it in an order where the heads are only $40 that'd be amazing.. But I'll still get them anyway.

    11. Well, yeah - we're all prepared to pay the $112 for a GO, or the $70 for a recast; because it's still a great price for a head. We have done it, and we probably will continue. At the end of the day, to us it's only $30, and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter to us - but it is still a bit... I dunno, words. XD It seems a little unfair not to be offering a discount across the board.

    12. I know that we all want to get things for a good price, but we all need to think about Denny here. He's already doing us an amazing service selling them for so little (and I'm talking even at totally full price, no Group Orders.) It takes a lot of work to make these, and he's a saint for doing it so cheaply. Yes, we all wish that we could get as much as possible with our money, but it's not right if it hurts Denny and his team when they're being so wonderful to us!

    13. Well said!

    14. It's not really about the money, I'm not likely to get upset over $30.
In fact, that's not my motivation at all- I was perfectly prepared to pay full price or I wouldn't have ordered at all.
I just question the fairness of excluding people who've clubbed together to get their dream dolls, especially when if they'd organised it through PMs, for example, no-one would even think that there was a difference- as the ordering method is exactly the same...

    15. Linderhes & Oracle12 - I hear what you guys are saying; but you understand where we're coming from too, right?

It doesn't bother me - $30, I could spend that in a week on food if I was feeling particularly hungry - but still the principal of the matter does work against people who have worked to club together and make group orders. I'm not even vying for a refund, because like Kuru said I was content to pay that price at the time, and that's fine, as far as I'm concerned that money is spent and I'll get what I paid for and enjoy it - but it doesn't sit right with me that an offer can be given to some people, and not to others.

    16. Please excuse my ignorance, than if your question was not about money than what was it about?

    17. Please don't sound so aggressive - the point is just: An offer has been made to some people, and not to others. I don't think that is fair.

      That is all.

    18. I agree but what about a case where someone wouldn't be likely to order a certain head at $70 but $40 is an offer they can't refuse? In the end, that's $40 going to the project from a person who wasn't likely to purchase a fullprice recast.

No, I'm not talking about a personal situation, just in theory.

I wonder if that's why Denny offered the deal in the first place. At that price many people can't say no.

Denny is obviously being a sweatheart by offering this and I agree that the deal seems way too good for the customer. Seems like after the cost of casting the Minimee group and Denny won't be getting much out of it. But all the same, if they can influence twice as many people to buy a $40 recast as would normally get the $70 one, they still make out in the end.

Maybe we shouldn't be so concerned with "fairness" and just take the offered rebate to help out the company?

    19. I understand where you're coming from, but it doesn't really hurt you, does it? It's kind of like when someone else wins the lottery. You didn't win, but I don't think that means we should be less happy for the people who did. But that's just my opinion :sweat.

Alchemical: That's true, but also bear in mind time and cost. It also takes them more time and resin to make twice as many heads, so it's not all profit if they make twice as many.

    20. I'm sorry if that came off as aggressive. That wasn't my intention. I guess I didn't understand what was asked.
