1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

Dec 26, 2006

    1. Julia Sirosh - It should fit into the little groove inside the head by turning the hook 90 degrees - does that work? Maybe the groove isn't deep enough...

    2. There's no groove... should I carve one myself? I tried to turn the S-hook 90 degrees, and it holds only until I touch the doll, then it slips back out. I think that perhaps I'll need to make a neck piece myself, maybe a piece of plywood with a small hole for the string would do.

    3. Ah yes, same thing happened with mine. You can make a neck piece out of Fimo/Sculpey, that should do the trick!;)

    4. that sounds so weird... I should take a picture of the inside of my head, and you can see what it's supposed to look like. It should have a little groove that the hook sits in.

    5. Other good options for a neck piece could be a bottle cap or a washer (but the washer
would have to have a slit cut in it with a dremel for easy removal of the head. The
bottle cap you can just cut a quick slit in it. ;) Good luck on that!

    6. Johnny Depp head does have a small groove, and the head fits nicely. But Mike's head has no groove, just a round hole, and quite deep, that part of the head where the hook slips in is very thick.

My sad angel (still needs a bit of heavier make-up and a redo of eyebrows which are too thin right now)

    7. Julia, I am so sorry about the Groove. When my team forgot to make the groove with the original sculpt, I should have made it by myself, but I might forgot it to do due to rush things to ship.
If you don't mind I would like to give you a tip to make the groove.
Becareful with your fingers not to get hurt.
Using a knife would be worked out fine. Just cut the middle for 45 degree from both sides.(Looks like a triangle)
that will hold the S-hook properly, you don't need to dig out a big groove a hole to hold the S-Hook.

Cut from 45 degree at both side(triangle looking)

      Sorry again about the inconvenience.

    8. Congratulations on your 500th post, Denny! :)
It's great to hear about our minimees being shipped soon. I'm so excited!

Thanks once again for all your hard work~

    9. Thank you, Denny, you are so sweet :) I really don't mind that, because the problem is very minor, and there is always an alternative solution. The work you've done is enormous, and I really-really appreciate that.

I already used Christy's advice about the plastic bottle cap, and the head holds well. Thanks everyone!

Today Michael allowed me to take just two pictures of him, hehe. I think he'll get used to that soon, especially when I make him some nice clothes.

    10. Denny - One of my orders just went your way ;) And I pmed you a question about "do-ability" of my little demon sheepboy (everyone can laugh at me - I mean, "demon SHEEP???", but yes, I love sheep, and NO not that way! :doh ) , and my lil group order should be coming along before the end of the month too!

@ Julia - while I've never really been a fan of Mike - he's looking gorgeous!

    11. I like sheep too  I'm pretty excited to see what he turns out like!

    12. Oh my goodness. XD New preview pics and shippings!

Ahhh, really looking forward to preview pics of Me in resin...

    14. Julia, your Micheal is so cool. Glad it worked out with the neck piece.
What I did was go to the hardware store and get bigger S hooks and these wonderful rubber washers. I love hardware stores.
My minimee neck socket was wider than the neck on the doll body I was using so I drew the elastic through the rubber washer. Using hemostats (a must-have for stringing and popping heads off of bodies), I pulled the elastic up and clamped so I could have enough to feed through the neck hole. Then I take the S hook and hook the ends of the elastic and then seat the S hook on the groove inside the head.
Release the hemostats and Viola!...you have the head sitting snugly on the neck socket.
I REALLY recommend using the rubber washers (these washers are used in faucets for sinks so look for them in the kitchen plumbing section of the hardware store or just ask a salesperson) as they help the minimee head sit nicely on a narrow neck of the doll body you are using. The head when you move it will stay in the position you place it.
Anyway, hope this helps anyone who has neck fitting/neck mobility issues.
      Steph C.
