Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

Ahh! The cloud looks so amazing! When will he be available as the gift head :'D? I want to buy my MiniMee soon, so I hope I can get the cloud head too x3!!

 

I think he's a perfect Cloud, because everyone can see similarities between both the animated and game version. It doesn't really matter which version Denny was basing it on, as it's suited to both, which is fab.

 

Ahh, 1st of December? @__@ I think I'll have to pass, then, and buy the head from someone later on. Christmas and Minimee group orders (I'll be in 3 in the next month!) has sapped my monies XDD

 

Hmmm, December 1st....I might actualy be able to swing that!

My open eyed Cloud is soooo need that head! That head looks exactly the same as my open eyed one which is perfect! And I luv sleepy head too!

Oh and hehehhe Denny, may I ask why do you choose Cloud for the event head? XD

Oh Denny can I suggest sumthing for the Cloud head?
I still think that his jaw needs more triangle-ish and slimmer and his mouth is wider a bit more.

Oooh, I have a question:
Would some tabi feet be possible? You know, like feet with a little space between the big toe and the others. I suppose I could just modify the feet I have already but I'm worried about ruining them!


Oh, and I redid Johnny, making him less piratey until I can get some clothes for him sorted out.

I am a comic artist (nothing released yet, so don't ask >.<;; ) and I was wondering, about the character discussion a few pages back.. IF I got a minimee of my character and IF at some point the character/comic became popular, COULD I forbid others from ordering the character by request to Denny, being that I owned the character?

Moral stuff isn't of concern to me. Yes it's mean/rude/etc/whatever. I'm just itchy and twitchy about other people putting my characters into situations they wouldn't normally be in.
OT- If it's a doll-created character with a standard issue head then it's different. I don't care. But these are animation characters that have been developed for years and if they had a doll-likeness then it should be up to me who else can reproduce it.

 

KakuraChan: If it's your character, then I think it's perfectly logical that you be able to forbid minimees being made of it :3 Even if you didn't get a minimee of him, he's still your intelectual property.

Just like if any of the celebs we've been getting minimees of came along and said "Oi, actually, stop that thanks", that should be that.

 

I am a comic artist too and I've had two heads made. I'm sure Denny and the staff would abide by your wish not to have the characters recreated- and the molds expire after about 5/6 months so the head will not be able to be casted anymore after that period (or you can ask to have the molds destroyed early, I think- i learned the hard way as I wanted another copy of my February character minimee but the mold had expired- so I ordered the April instead. That's what I get for not keeping up in the thread!!)

since they sculpted the doll, they would realize any similarities, I would think.

Though, honestly, I think it's really flattering that people would want my characters as dolls. But then again, I don't mind any kind of fanart. I think it's awesomely hillarious when people slash characters and I'm like (pfftttt. yeah they hate each other).

 

This has been queried a couple of times before and the response was that if anyone requested a head to be casted from a previously created mold by another person, permission would need to come from that person before any casting could take place - huge thread so would be very difficult to find such a post, but they are there ^^

 

I don't think that was the question though, but that is true. If a mold exists and anyone other than the person who commissioned it wants a cast made, they need the original customers premission or they must commission their own. The character of the mold and sculpt in question isn't "owned" or "claimed" by the original commissioner though, anyone may still order their likeness.

But, the actual question was about a character you created and assuming that character becomes well known in the future. Could the creator ask that no dolls be made using them as inspiration. I think it is a fair request, myself.

Legally, I don't see why they wouldn't respect her wishes? Also, as artists themselves, I think they respect the artist property of someone else if they send them a message and tell them they do not want these characters created if someone asks for them.
