1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

Dec 26, 2006

    1. The think the molds actually go bad or something at some point, after about 6 months they get thrown away. So if you want more heads, you've got to do it within that time.

    2. Yes! Please make sure to do so, I didn't realize it but one of my molds went bad and I couldn't get a recast :(

Denny had said that the silicone degrades and you can't pull a good cast from the mold anymore.

    3. I'm going to try a cream white Soom Sabik body because I want Joey to be tall. I have an NS Sabik and tried the head on for size tonight. The proportion was actually great, and the only thing weird was the neck was a little long, however if you look at pics of Joey where he is holding his head up instead of ducking down, his neck does look abnormally long, so I probably won't have to mod the neck hole, which is helpful because the head is kind of skinny and there isn't much room for making the hole bigger without getting into the actual sculpt.

I don't know how the resin will match because Soom just started making the white Sabiks and I don't think any have shipped, plus I haven't ordered mine yet (they said it will be available again in Jan for ordering), but I may check tomorrow against my Soom Mini Gem - I have to get her out - and hopefully that will be a similar white to the DIM white.

    4. [20th.December update]

Extra heads and some minimee heads(November) will be shipped out next Thursday.
Minimee body for Mid.November is being hold at the moment, but will be soon shipped again.

Headphones are now in stock and people ordered this item earlier days will get shipping notice next Thursday as well.

Due to preparation of the doll show in Seoul, I am not able to see all the thread at the moment, if you have any questions in mind, please send me e-mail.

      Thank you so much !

      Denny

    5. I'm actually still don't quite understand about it ^_^
What I understand yes the silicone thingy (the mold) will deteriorate, and therefore isn't good anymore for recast. But what about the original head itself? Is it still possible to make a mold out of it again?

    6. I don't work in Resin, so I can't tell you 100% fur sure, but I am a metalsmith, and when I make an original item to cast, you have to destroy it to make the Mold (the silicone thingy).

    7. WAA?!! O_O
      Really?! O_O Awww...TT___TT

    8. No. Go to the artist dolls subforum, many people there keep their originals after casting. It depends on how careful you are, and nothing more.

    9. oh really? So it's still possible to make another mold out of it then XD

    10. Hi Georgia,

It's possible to make a mold for recasting.

However, the sculpt is owned by DIM and no one can use the minimee heads in order to recast without DIM's permission.
So it's like...we own the work but we don't recast or produce any copies without the owners' request.
this is the promise between DIM and Customers.

I just want to make a clear about it ^^

      Thank you

      Denny

    11. I was wondering... What the company define as celebrity? I mean... There are people that is famous in my country but nobody know them here or there are people that had participated in reality shows, do they are celebrities too? do they will cost what a celebrity cost? I was thinking about that today LOL.

    12. Sharonpixie: Well, if you can't supply photos that have been taken specifically for the process, I think it'll count as a celebrity. I think part of the reason for the $50 extra is the added work which goes into sculpting from the mixup of styles from celebrity photos.

    13. Yes, that makes sense. Thanks!!!!!!:D

    14. Kazzii: No that's not true, celebrity sculpt is more detailed 80% resemblance to your picture. This could be your boyfriend, or girlfriend, even actor etc.

$380 is less likeness 50% to your picture, this can also be your boyfriend, or girlfriend or even actor etc.

You're only paying for $430 -more- detail when you pick "celebrity" option.
When you pay $380 it just means you get -less- detailed sculpt.

BJD styled Minimee : 50% resemblance
      Reslistic Minimee : Maximum 80%

Not work from adding different photos, it just means more detail or less detail, that's it. Hopes this clarifies it. ^_^

    15. To Sharonpixie: The person who it is doesn't matter, it can be a person from a reality tv show, or mainstream actor, or even original character. What determines the price, is how realistic and close you want the sculpt to your picture reference.

Like I said, if you want your picture to have a certain amount of resemblance here is the percentage:

      ( Less detail sculpt head)
BJD styled Minimee : 50% resemblance

      ( More detail sculpt head)
      Reslistic Minimee : Maximum 80% ^_^

Edit: The only thing about using a famous person as a picture, it can be actor, anything from TV, then the minimee head sculpts are limited to only 10 heads. If it's your original character or something thats orginal and truly yours, or your family, you can make as many heads as you want.

    16. pink_dollie: No, you can have a non-celebrity minimee made at either BJD style or 80% realism - and perhaps even higher, up to 90% or 100% depending on the photos you send and the specifications you give. Celebrities will only be made to 80% because the photos generally aren't clear and concise enough for higher.

So the 'realism' doesn't come into the price at all.

    17. Oh now I understand. Thanks!:D

    18. Thats VERY different from working in metal! When I carve a Wax ring (For example), I have to cover it in a plaster, and then heat it up, and melt all the wax out, thus destroying my original. No going back after that!

Luckily that is not how it appears to be with Resin molds!
