Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

He;s actually the 'real' Guide- a character I came up with for an RPG, and who's name I use on the internet.

And I think they must have had fun making him- he looks fantastic!

 

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love your Guide. XD And here's my guy, I love how he turned out.

 

I scrolled through the whole thread just for pictures... this is awesome! I have to say though, I love the Jareth doll the best (though it was a hairs breath close to Miyavi!)

You guys had mentioned it was 600uSD to get this done? Is this the blanket price or are there different ones for different sizes? (I would DIE to get a Gackt sculpt!!!!)"

Does anyone know what they are sculpting the previews out of? It looks sturdy-- but doesn't look like they bake it or anything. O.o

 

Keanna - The price for a MiniMee head is $380, I think, and you need to add $50 if you want a celebrity sculpt.

I'm loving all these sculpts that are based on drawings - its really very remarkable!

 

The episode "Hush" from Buffy with with the Gentlemen is the only tv episode of anything that gave me nightmares. I didn't sleep for a week.

 

I love Guide's doll. I said they must have really had a fun time doing it, because they first told him they might not be able to do the grinning teeth face, BUT THEY DID!

This is really getting me excited to see mine. :O Everyone's is coming out so well.

I'm really surprised how accurate they are getting these drawing minimees.

Yeah, it is $380, and that gives you two identical heads, and if you want more, you can get additional heads of your sculpt for $70 each. It is the same price for MSD and SD. The previews are a sculptor's clay that will then be used to make a mold, and then the resin is cast out of that mold.
And I think Gackt would make a GORGIOUS doll! He would be so awesome... if I wasn't getting Jareth/David Bowie, I'd have to do a Jrocker like Gackt or perhaps someone from Psycho le Cemu.
Since it comes with two heads, I'll probably use one to make a Jareth doll, and the other I'll make to look like David Bowie on his Aladdin Sane album.

I just want to say that I think DIM's faceup artist is wonderful, she did such a beautiful job on my Aleksei. It's worth the wait you guys. You are lucky to have such a talented person working with you Denny.

 

The thing is Denny, you constantly give updates, either in this thread or by emails, and that is all a lot of people ask for.

How long will this be going on for?

I'm really interested in it. Terra wants a Matsumoto Jun sculpt. (I think this would probably totally freak him out though. ...But after getting my most recent doll, i'm poor until I can save money.

Will this be going on up to and after November time? I figure I could probably afford it around about that time.

I have read like 90% of the posts and I am even more excited about it with each one f them!

I ´ve been looking for the right guy for like two years but none of the molds out there seem to fit my character so this is great!
Denny has been so sweet updating every now and then, it´s really encouraging to know the customer can follow the process!

I ´d like one of me too, but I just finished paying my second doll, so I am also interested in knowing how long this will be going on for, as it may be some time before I can order my guy

and also about the bodies that will match (I want my guy to be BIG like a sd16 or something, or at least sd13 size)

anyway , congrats to everyone getting them!


PS. I just had the funniest conversation over the phoneXD my boyfriend was terribly freaked out by the idea of a dolll based on me or himXD a shame cause he iss really handsomeXDD

 

My problem (apart from cold hard cash, hem hem) is producing a picture of what my guy looks like.

A friend and I have been trawling the net for lookalike actors. The trouble is, you see...I am not too confident about my ability to draw him.

I've been very impressed by the drawings that dechanique produced, and the result of Guide's piccies speaks for himself

But I feel rather hesitant...I suppose I'd have to do a drawing and then scan it into the PC, etc

None of the actors I've been looking at is really quite suitable.

 

Glass-mountain - Speaking as someone who has just spent the last month looking for a suitable female face (and finally succeeded!), you may have more luck looking for models than actors. For one thing, there are a lot more out there, and for another, there are a number of websites that do nothing but list models, so you can just scroll through page after page of faces.

Yes~ I'll PM you all the model sites I have saved, but I used to use professional model photos for my role play character journals back in the day:

a good start is promod and ford models (i dont remember the urls, but i think you can google it).
