1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

Dec 26, 2006

    1. This is an awesome idea, and I think somewhere between $750-$1,000 for a custom doll is a very good price.

I can't wait to see the results! Good luck with this venture!

    2. wow, this sounds so neat! my mom showed me this thread and i'd love to see what you can do... i've been searching and searching for a doll of my favorite actor, basil rathbone, and it would be neat if i could get one through your service.

hope everything turns out well nonetheless!

    3. Hmm, I think I can save for one then. I'm looking forward to seeing the test results from the volunteers!

    4. yep i would be definitely interested :)

    5. Hmm, it sounds very interesting. I'd like to see a prototype to see how it works IRL.

      Nancy

    6. I would like to let people know how it's going on.

Now outer line has been made.
cheshiretiffy...who is the Volunteer wanted to be stylalized like BJD.
So that is more difficult job than just realistic work.
I will very very soon post the outline photo for cheshiretiffy and people interested.

      Thank you

      Denny

    7. Oh, I said natural is ok if its easier! Don't make it too difficult for your example project.

Eeh I can't wait to see the outline X3

    8. Hi Cheshiretiffy,

I want to show you this. It's not done yet.
You wanted to be more like BJD, so It's being made like that..about 40-50% of BJD image.

If you more want to be real..like...80%, Please let me know.
Then, you will find it out...it's you.
What do you want ? ^^ let me know

And....As Present, I will give you the Sleeping head as well(ALL FREE PRESENT)

    9. Sorry about the mess background..Don't mind it..^^ Smile

    10. After Finishing this work, I will take personal orders for limited numbers.
Only for head.(As DIM's happy body is being modified so can't provide body)

For Men, Yes..it't possible..later....today...HAPPY BOY Body...tested..and it was good. Most of weak points are fixed with DIM Happy boy body. You will see at the end of Jan with attractive DIM 42cm boys(two models) with better Body.

The limited one would be like this...
*your custom BJD(MINIMEE) with custom make up
      *Sleeping head of your minimee
Two heads....price ? will update..later...not sure yet...the sculping work is too pricy...as you know. It's only one Doll in the world.
Thank you and I am ready to hear more opinions.

(my opinion is....perhaps...I make more realistic....for Tiffany. comparing with photo...it's more like BJD)

      Denny

    11. beautiful work, a resin portrait doll.
Do you think later you could make child dolls too, maybe in DIM Sweet size? (I know I would like to see a boy face like my sons, your girls are so pretty)

    12. We ordered a doll like this for grandma a few years back to remind her of baby grandson. But, of course, even with pictures provided, I would say that the doll did not quite resemble the baby.

Your idea is good but depends on how realistic people expect your sculpt to be. I for one, would love to see very realistic sculpt but, I am also sure that it is not as easy to do as it sounds. After going to Mme Tussau Wax Museum for the first time, I learned that they made the life-like facial sculpts by applying face molds directly onto people's faces. Perhaps that's a technique that could be borrowed and shrunk down for BJD size. Hope you can find a way to do this and keep costs low as well.

    13. Thanks. To make realistic face...it's not too hard.
      Hard thing is....to make....stylish...like BJD.
Some days later, I will put realistic version of tifanny...so...compare it.
which one people would prefer....real one or BJD style.
      THank you so much.

    14. That sculpt is really beautiful! I am looking forward to seeing the more realistic head as well. A very fine work indeed.

    15. OMG, Denny....

I've sent you an email :fangirl:

    16. Well, I liked the BJD version, but Denny said that so many people are asking for a realistic version that he's going to have it redone.

If I were a paying customer, I would have definately gone with the styalized version. It was like a much cuter, young version of me instead of my real, tired, old face XD

I did manage to get her a DiM Happy body, so hopefully the resins will match!

    17. Could someone please clarify what kind of body will match the Minimee head? I want to make sure the resin matches if I order. :sweat

    18. As far as I've been told, the resin that they're using is going to change after my heads are cast. So for me, its the old DiM Happy, though Denny did say the Volks MSD would be a good match.

For any future orders, it will probably be the newer DiM MSD-size sculpts.

    19. amazing...
can't wait to see the end results :)
