Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

I did take photos of my MiniMee on a DOT body, total mismatch (cos mine was from the big head batch)... I *seem* to remember posting it, but I'm not sure where I posted them

Blackpaperbag: oh ok, how was the resin match though? if the heads are smaller it might work as long as the resin matched.

 

DOT resin is very much pinker (and mine is already a lot less pink than the newer DOT's some of my friends have), the MiniMee resin is more yellowy-toned (supposedly matches an NS hound), very pale and also more translucent imo.

 

so like luts skin then? cause i know my sai-kun is far more pale and yellow as a white skin, and roy and corbin are far more pinky...

 

I haven't seen the resin-match, but if it's yellower, I'd say more like volks than CP. My CP doll is peachy, and my volks SD10 body is yellow!

 

yeah... so size and color wise, the volks sd......13 body would be the best route you think?

 

both volks Pureskin and CP NS are darker. For existing owners like myself, umm, I'm still having a problem here. How's the DZ NS match?

Anyway but as I said, this is the old resin, I have no idea how the new resin colours are gonna be so I think for new owners, their best bet would be to find an owner with a DIM Happy doll and skintone match for other companies' bodies.

 

The new DIM Love boys are REALLY pink, like DoD resin. I haven't got a clue as to what the old bodies were like, though XD

Ok, so for those of us planning on ordering soon, we should see what bodies match the DIM Love? *goes to start looking if there is a topic on this*

Also, I'm getting a girl Minimee... so that might make finding a body even more difficult

So does anyone know if the DIm Happy NS body will matched the NS Iple buff Body? ^^ Or do you guys know if there's a link to the resin comparison that would be great thanx!

I bought a 1/3 body from AOD for my minimee head (1st ordering period). And I'm really happy with the result.

My head was from the... uh, I dunno? April? batch. I ordered in the very first round, back in February. I think the head came in April. There seems to be quite a bit of disparity between the head sizes of that batch... It seems I got quite a 'normal' sized head. XD

The skintone is very pale. I have CP and Volks Normal and BW skins, and apart from the Iple body, the closest match is the BW Volks skin. It's paler, but has the pinky undertones that the Minimee resin has. The Ipple body is very opaque, where as the head is a bit more... uh, glowy? Or something. CP is WAY too pink for it, and the Volks Normal is also quite dark.

Though, as people have been saying, the resin tone is going to change soon. I've got NO idea how the Happy skintone is, I haven't done much research on it. I did a lot of skintone comparision and research before buying the Ipplebody, using string-comparasions from various threads to get an approximate match. I was lucky that the Buff body came out when it did, being exactly the sort of shape I wanted for my boy.

Why do most of you guys looking for another body from another company for the minimee head? The minimee body will certainly has the same skin colour, right? I want to know if perhaps there's a problem with the minimee body that I missed? So I can decide to order it or not ^_^ Thanx!

 

I bought a body because (a) I don't want to wait for the Minimee body, (b) I am guessing the Minimee body might not be the shape I want since it has to be a generic doll body and I specifically want an older man's body that's a little more "beefy", and most of all (c) given the disparities in the head batch sizes and the resin colors, there's no assurance as of now that the Minimee body would work with my head.

Denny has stated that he is working with the artists to reduce the head size. I presume that means the heads will go back to the size they were in the first batch, which looks like a good size to fit on a lot of different bodies. But my head was pretty big so I'd rather just go out and buy it a big body that I know works, rather than wait around for Minimee to finish something that might not work well.

I'm sure that if Denny can get the Minimee body properly synced up with the resin color and the head size, the body will be great for future Minimees - just maybe not for our "big head batch".

 

Here's some comparison pictures for you guys, I have an April minimee, so his head is larger. I have a DIM Archernar so I put his head on Archernar's body, so you can see the skin difference and head size on his body. There's quite a difference, but DIM is changing the skin tone and head size, so my April head will be different from future heads. I also am showing him on his dollzone body. I got a dollzone normal skin. The normal skin dollzone I compared him to at the doll shop looked the same skintone, and the dollzone white skin looked too light, but I think dollzone changed their colors a little or something, because the dollzone body I got seems darker than what I compared the head to before I bought the body. Anyhow, it still looks pretty ok, especially if I blush the head some more. And it's the right size for him. Plus it's very flexible. Lots of joints.
