Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

I think it's just that DIM doesn't have a body specifically for the Minimee's at the moment. Personally, I'm looking for a body that's not super well defined. My Minimee (Billie Joe) isn't super built, so while the DIM body that's currently at the site is very well sculpted and beautiful. It just doesn't fit my Minimee.

 

Yup, it's hard finding the right body to suit the character, while having to take into consideration resin matching issues AND head size

Also, what bunnydots said - MiniMee bodies might not be made to suit those of us with the large head batch, since not only are future MiniMees heads smaller, but also cast in a different resin.

I'm honestly at a loss as to what to do at this moment, and I have three heads sitting here wanting to be completed ;o;

 

Awww! 3 heads? That's great! (And Horrible) at the same time. I wish you luck! Below I've attached the comparison that made me decide to use an Iplehouse Model-Type Body. I've only a couple picture of Billie Joe shirtless, and this one seemed the most recent to me.

 

Oracle12: Looks pretty spot-on to me! How tall is the body? Oh btw, when I said three heads, I meant three of the same head, I received the standard two and I asked for an additional dreaming version ^^;;;

 

I honestly don't think I'd be getting a minimee if the DIM bodies weren't on offer with them - luckily for me, they're perfect for the guy I'm getting. I've already gone through so much angst trying to match resin tones (KN Bada head. Ugh!) that I don't think I could do it again XD

Oh! I had no idea. However, the body is 63cm tall. I think that's including a head. I'm not sure though. I am a bit worried about the height as Billie Joe isn't really a tall man. But...oh well!

 

I don't think the 63 cm includes the head. I didn't measure but my Iple body seems like it would easily be 63 cm tall all by itself. I believe my Unidoll Jace stands a bit shorter than the Iple with the head on.

edited to add, all the BJD bodies are pretty tall so I think no matter which one you pick you're going to end up with a taller Billie Joe than he would be in RL. You can always find him another body later if your first choice doesn't work out.

 

it usually will include what an iplehouse head would make it over all... cause my DOCs are 45 total head and body, not just body... but I wouldn't know lol

 

I don't own any Iple heads but I'm pretty sure my Minimee head is bigger than a standard Iple head and may also sit higher on the neck than the Iple heads. That could account for why it seems a few cm's bigger to me. Perhaps someone with a more normal size Minimee head (Loki?) could actually measure. I'd measure but my doll is at home and I'm 2 hours away right now.

 

Yes. That's what I'm thinking. I checked out the Iplehouse boys stats and they where all listed as being 63cm. So, I'm still not sure. Either way, it's no big deal.

 

If the Minimee heads are reduced in size by the time you get yours, it may well be closer to 63 cm. I see Jace on the Unidoll site is listed as being 67 cm and I think my guy, with the head on, is closer to that height, but the height could very well be all in the Minimee head.

I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the concern on the size and matching it to a body, or should I just find one close to what I'm looking for and mod it if needed... cause I just found Abio Angel dolls that would work for what I'd use both heads for for a 1/3rd the price of what'd I'd end up spending on Minimees... XP I've got a lot of thinking to do over the next few months before making any orders...

 

The new minimee heads should fit the DIM bodies so they'll be normal SD size. The new DIM boy body is really hella nice. I've got one for my Archernar and it looks good! He moves really well also.

I've also got an April Minimee head -- the month where the heads were hella big, but a 70cm Dollzone body fits him really nicely. Never thought I'd have a 70cm doll, but Yoshiki's worth it. XB!!

I'm really happy that the new ones are a bit smaller, though!! XDXD
I've just ordered another one based off my own original character. ^_^ Can't wait to see him!!

 

I'm just curious, does anyone know, has there been any more word on the new Resin colors? I would like to order mine soon , but I'm waiting to see the new resin.

 

alright that sounds good! Hopefully it holds that a DIM body can work for them. On poseability, could the body pull it's knees up to it's chest without being all crazy?

I took some pics of my Heika with his knees tucked up. His hip joint will move out of socket a little and his knees will "break" if the leg is really tucked up, but if he's wearing pants, you'd never know and it'd look real natural.
Heika's wearing short shorts so you can see that hip joint and I pulled his stockings down to see his knees (though I'm still a crappy photographer! XD ):





I also took a bunch of pictures earlier of the body [Using both Heika and his twin brother Yuuta X3 ] and how it looks and poses:















Whew. So hopefully that helps your decision. I'm really happy with this body actually. It took me some time. I wasn't sure how I liked it to begin with, but the more I play with him the more I realize he can do a lot of stuff that I want him to do! X3

 

it's too bad that torso isn't in three parts. oh well, but it seems to work. One of my two heads I'd like to make into "L" from Death Note so he NEEDS to be able to sit like L sits! lol

 

Oh!! How fun! Double jointed knees and elbows might make that more possible. ^^ I'm not sure how this body would really be for that. Depends on -how- accurate you want to be. X3

 

There's my handsome doll, Yuta, in the undies! Kobatastic and I ordered our dolls at the same time, together. They're like twins, but Koba's doll tends to have longer black hair, and redder eyes, and more brown toned makeup. I agree, the DIM bodies are really good looking, and pose pretty well. I just love my Archernar, he's so beautiful.

 

I also looked for a different body, because when I bought my boy there were no bodies available for the heads. ^_^ The offer with the DIM body has only been recent.

As bunnydots says, the measurement includes the head. From the crown of Pi (my boy's) head to the base of his feet, he's about 63.5 cms tall.
