Dim Minimee Update & Talk Part 1

Just a general question. When during the ordering process can you ask for extra heads? Would that be after the sculpt is done but before casting? Also do we know who the first and second event heads are?
IN terms of the ooak factor I would be kinda bummed if a group ordered the same head as me and everyone got their head cheaper, but I guess that would be my bad for not looking for people to go in with me.
I would love a Cillian Murphy head so Lady Vincira if you do a group order let me know

blackpaperbag - Michael's face-up is by Hisuida, who did an awesome job!

Keikochan - Yeah, the neck is not totally perfect, but I still think it works really well. However, I've modded it to be a good inch shorter than it originally was, and sanded off the adam's apple almost completely. Without those mods, it looked really awful.

luckymirai - Mike is from the April batch, but his head is comparatively small. He's smaller than my big-headed Volks dolls (i.e. Cyndy and old F-29), and the girl I got from the May batch is exactly the same size as him. I don't know if that's any help to you, though. ^^;;

Can't wait to save enough to order myself MJ too. Been searching for appropriate phhotos and angles for two months now, such a tiring process, but a happy one as well.

 

You're right in that people don't have to concern themselves with someone else they don't even really know, but likewise, those of us who feel differently about this matter have just as much right to voice our issues or simply discuss it... I don't think anyone's been particularly nasty about it, and I trust we're all mature enough to try and understand where different people are coming from, which is why we've been allowed to continue sharing our thoughts I'm not saying that I'm right in being disappointed, or that someone else is wrong in not asking me for 'permission' or anything, I'm just stating how I feel. I don't think there's a real right or wrong here, just personal opinions~

fitz: There was no group order option at the time, and Denny himself did say at first that he didn't intend for us to have multiple casts because it wasn't supposed to be 'resold' like a standard doll would. In a sense it's still being implemented (there's a limit to how many recasts you can order) but it's not exactly the same. If I were to order on my own now, yeah sure, I'd say it's my own fault for having to pay more, since I'd be deliberately choosing not to split the fees.

 

Julia: The time spent researching for the perfect pictures and angles I think is one of the best parts of the Minimee process. It's time consuming and sometimes hard work but it's awesome when you can find the perfect pictures to get that sculpt JUST the way you want it!

I said it before and I'll say it again, the OOAK-ness that comes with the Minimee's is great but it's much more awesome to get a doll that looks exactly like what you want!

 

Maybe we are all mature enough to keep things from getting nasty, and yes you have just as much right to express your view points as everyone else. But it isn't fair to the rest of us to be excited about getting dolls that other people are upset about and feeling territorial. I just find it frustrating and cannot understand why anyone would feel their toes are being stepped on with people getting like dolls, and feel the necessity to post their disapproval. I think this is going a little too far. It is turning something fun and special and expensive into a 'me, me, mine, mine' thing and it is not fair. I'm sorry, but no one is going to have a completely unique doll unless it is a minimee of themselves that maybe their mother wants. It just isn't fair at all. And since we are all mature here, maybe we can all realize that there are alot of fans OF THE SAME PEOPLE that will end up getting the same doll. I don't care how many people order Ville dolls, though he isn't as widly adored on here as Gackt. I don't care. I would love to see theirs. I don't own him. So why can't everyone just get over this? It's ruining the fun.......

I think this is why Denny wanted us to get Minimees of our loved ones rather than celebs; no one steps on each other's toes then.

Cant wait to see everyones minimee's!! I really cant wait to see gackt, Hyde, and Miyavi too ^^ (recently got into them and im a big fan) hmm has anyone thought of doing anyone from AnCafe??? that would be so awesome!! but im curently saving for my Yunho lol i really wish i could do a group order but well dont have any experiance in doing that kinds of stuff and i dont think anyone will want him hehe. But omg if anyone decides to do a group order of one of the members from AnCafe i might be tempted to join in!! but anyway good luck to everyone who is waiting and i hope the wait isn't long!! ^^

 

New previews should be coming in about a week and a half according to Denny's pervious announcment. I hope I'm on it!

 

I've seen very little show off their Minimees from the May and June orders. How are the heads on different bodies?

 

I hope I am too! I'm trying not to think about it because that'll only make the time go more slowly, but I'm really excited to see.

 

drowningindolls: I think we've mostly all had our say about this already. Whether you think it's appropriate or not, my point is, perhaps it's not fair to us either for you to say we should have to keep entirely quiet (I'm not talking about kicking up a big fuss, but be told we shouldn't be allowed to say anything?), because fact is, there weren't supposed to be a lot of people getting the same doll because we were told it wouldn't be allowed. That's the point you seem to be missing.

Maybe you don't get it because you're not one of those who ordered earlier and so you see it as we 'should have known' when we decided to order a celebrity (which isn't fair either, because how should we have known this would happen?), or you simply aren't the sort of person who cares if your extra expensive limited suddenly becomes a rerelease... but that's you. Not me, or some others. Not to speak for anyone else, but to me it seems like those who have minor issues are still trying to see it from other owners' point of view too, perhaps you should try to see it from ours?

Anyway, this thread is for discussion of MiniMees, and well... that's precisely what we're doing. Discussing it~

babytarragon: Please don't feel bad about it From the way things look now, I'm sure they would have gone this way eventually anyway...

 

I still say this is the most awesome project ever, and I am so glad ito have the opportunity to have purchased my doll. I think everyone should have the chance to have the doll they want, and if that means there are doubles, so be it, because where else in the entire world are you going to get a doll like this?
I know so many people who have been so overjoyed to get a doll sculpted of their favorite person, or see something they have thought of in their minds become reality. I really think this is a wonderful thing Denny has done for us doll lovers, because it really is a unique opportunity, and takes so much more work than just mass producing one doll.

Well said. I think we should all just try and move forward. The July batch of Minimee should ship in a few days. Hur-rah! Billie Joe is coming home. I'm so very excited. I ordered his body yesterday, after the Iplehouse site came back up. Oh, and let's not forget September previews should be being sent out real soon too!

P.S. I never realized how beautiful Iplehouse boy bodies are until just recently. They're are amazingly beautiful.

 

I dunno about you all but I'm getting so physically anxious over getting my Baios! XDXD;;; I reaaaaaally suck at face ups but I'm determined I will do his over and over and over until I get it right. >D No commissioning or forcing Mirai to do it for me. XD (God, love you, Mirai.. you're my hero! )
I just can't wait to see him in person and play with him! Especially since his body will be coming alongside him. Yoshiki's heads were all I got with him and so, while it was exciting, I still couldn't really -play- with a floating head... (stuck him on a coke bottle for a while though. 9.9 )
Baios' custom hair won't be done for a while but even so.. he'll look hot as a baldy. >D Rawrrr~
Plus I'll have to do some mods on his body so that'll keep me busy!

you said in a post from 9/22 that some of the minimee heads are completed and more will be coming in 10 days.
Do you know if my Nastassja is in any of those batches?
