1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. It definitely depends on the situation, but I would save my family and my pet before I would grab for the dolls. Recently we had a flash flood in town.. and I had to get some things out of the house. We basically only had time to grab a few things because the water was rising, and yes.. my dolls were a priority then.

    2. Strange, I was just thinking about this last night. I don't know what I would do. When I was 12 our house caught on fire and I didn't even think to take any object with me. I just put on my shoes, tried to find the cat and got the hell out of there.

If that were to happen now, and it seems safe enough at the time, I would like to grab my laptop first, my purse, my MSD, then my SD (in that order). If somebody else needs help though, or my cat and bird are still inside, I'd drop all that stuff in a heartbeat. Living things are more important. Thankfully I live with 5 other people though and I know for a fact they can get to the cat before I could. I don't know about the bird though, his cage is easy to over-look. I'll go talk to them about it now, it hasn't been discussed since we've gotten him. >.>

    3. seeing as I am waiting for the OK to order the doll... A tornado would be most common here... O_o
I would grab my sister, sprint to my doll, then run downstairs to the basement.... We have a movie theatre room which is basically all cement...
Funny thing is is that there wAS a tornado once...I brought my sister down to said room, while my parents were upstairs laughing at the storm....
Boy were they suprised when a twister had hit down! No one was hurt though. --_--

    4. God this thread stresses me out.

    5. Simply, yes.

Having worked and lived on boats, when a fire alarm goes off there is NEVER panic in my house. My husband takes a child I take a child, our bedside briefcase which never moves (contains our banking details passports marriage and birth certificates) and then as we walk calmly out of the house I grab the three most important material posessions I have; a trophy from my fashion days, a photo album of my family and Tanus my CP NaNuRi (edit: he's been replaced with my Lusis), they all live on the same book shelf, as for the rest of my once vast (now depleted) collection they are replaceable. If there was no immediate danger you bet your ass I'd be straight in there with a wheel barrow piling up with all my resin babies (now reduced to three :()

BTW on the lighter side: given that we dont get tornados and with a Cyclone we get plenty of warning ie: enough time to move house safely AND go back for the tea-pot, and I live in an area where a flash flood would be a god-send, I'm thinking house-fire.

After calmly evacuating the house, phoning the fire-brigade and getting comfy on the neighbours couch whilst we watch our house burn to the ground I'd use Tanus (now replaced with a photo album) to beat my husband senseless because it would be his fault there was a fire (smoker) LOL

    6. If I had enough time, maybe. But before that I'd definetely save my children and pets first. And my hubby  In addition to dolls I would have my MLP collection, that would be a bit problematic

    7. in my old apartment we had a scare once. we learned we had a problem with the wiring because we were woken up by a power failure and a weird burning smell coming out of the outlets, so one of the other tenants called the fire department. when the firemen arrived, they said we should all be lucky the building hadn't burned down yet :o

so i packed a suitcase with all my dolls and a photo album and took them to work with me just in case!

everything turned out ok, thankfully. now i have a cat, so she is my first concern.

    8. It would be my parents and my brother, the dog, and then dolls and mobile. ^-^

    9. If all loved ones and living, breathing creatures were taken care of and if it were still save enough to move around indoors, then yes - I would probably try to grab and go, along with my laptop and my portable hard drive...it's like me, but in electronic form. >_<

Though, in reality, if something horribly dangerous were to strike, my brain probably wouldn't trigger thoughts about my dolls, or any of my possessions. I'm pretty sure life preservation instincts would kick in first and then I'd think about those types of things once everyone was out safe and it would be too late. *sighs*

    10. I have actually been tempted to put all of my dolls in their large, makeshift carrier at night, just in case of a fire. Honestly, I probably wouldn't try to carry them out (my arms would be busy with our three dogs and two cats) but I have a window that faces the front yard. I'd probably kick that out and throw the bag out the window, and hope that nothing broke too bad. Perhaps I should get a blanket to line it, just in case... Now that there are no longer bushes below my window, I don't think I can or wish to jump out on to the puny rose bushes in case of a blaze. However, if my dolls were scattered about the house, no way. Even if the animals were already safe and I was the only one still in the house, I can't see myself running and gathering them all up.

However, it looks like we MAY have to evacuate (again). In that case, where we have plenty of time to prepare, of course my dolls are coming with me, along with a few other personal items (and, of course, the pets!)

    11. First the lives, then the spare money, then some of my precious stuff, and then the dolls. Yes, that's probably the order in which I would save stuff, if I could. And food too! Survival over stuff I guess. Or I could save the dolls and sell then if we are hit by a disaster and are out of money...

    12. I'd save my dog and then the dolls. Then I'd grab my handbag with my ID, creditcard, laptop and cell phone on my way out. I think.

    13. This is actually funny.

The duplex above our garage caught on fire about a couple months ago and I seriously grabbed only my dolls...

I have always been afraid of fires and other disasters ruining my precious belongings... But it turned out out house was okay and nothing was damaged on our end. I found it sad that I only grabbed my kids and nothing more...

But it makes me want to think ahead and how I can grab my other things as well.

    14. If there was time to get a few things I would take Faust, my animals and my laptop, maybe a few other things too ...

    15. They tend to be within arm-length, if not already at my side, so I would probably take them with me.

However, if it was deemed impossible or actually risked my life....I probably would be forced to leave her.

    16. I think it would depend on where it was at...if I was at school, I probably would take him with me...but if I were at home and something happened, I would probably leave him since I would most likely worry about my 7 cats and one dog first.

    17. Considering I'm in a dorm without any pets or major items I'd definitely grab my kids and run! It might be a bit difficult considering I do have a rather large number but I'd still be sure to manage it. But of course, situation is always depending and if something should happen when I'm out of my dorm and living elsewhere things could change. But I know I'd still try my hardest to take them with me.

    18. I would if I could - but my pets are more important. And since I have many pets I don't think I would be able to :(

    19. I wish I could, but I think I would have enough to do by evacuating my kids and my pets... since i don't have a car i could go away in, i'd have to limit it to the things i could carry in a suitcase and a birdbox...

    20. I don't know if this discussion exists already-but I was thinking about it the other day... What would you do if your doll was in a burning building? Could you leave your doll(s) in there to burn o.o;;

I was kind of creeped out when I came to the realization that I would first save my animals, then my dolls, and that's it (this is assuming there aren't other people in the fire)... As a musician, I wouldn't even save my instruments-but I'd save my dolls...

I couldn't leave them behind, not because of them themselves, and not because of their characters, but because the corresponding characters actually feel like "a part of me" or something like that.. I can't put it in non-corny words...

What about everyone else? What would you do? Why?
