1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. I would go for my favorite stuffed toys second. First would be cat and family. I would make sure family got out since you never know if they got stuck or something.

But yeah, I only recently came into this hobby from collecting stuffed toys, so I am still a bit more attached to them.

    2. As for the whole not having time to grab stuff, this thread was asking about two different situations: If you had notice, and if you didn't. Maybe they're reffering to the first question?? Of course, if any of us had notice I'm sure we'd grab our dolls.

I think I'm going to keep my boys in a bag or something so if something happens, I can grab them all easily and run. As for family, chances are, they'll get themselves out, so I'm not going to run around my house while it's on fire looking for them. And my cat is an outdoor cat so she'd already be out. My sister has a fish, and if she hadn't grabbed him, I would've. But I'd grab the boys first since the fish is my sister's and she'd probably (hopefully) grab him. Besides, I have two hands. :)

Great mental image of myself running out of a burning house with a bag of dolls and a fishbowl.

Baakay - Well, channel-changing emergencies are quite common. :XD:

Edit: Notice everybody has a cat??

    3. If I had notice, I would try to collect my dolls, but my husband and pets would be first to leave the house. If I didn't have notice, I would be sad, but glad to be alive that I could re-adopt new dolls. At the very least, I always try to have one of my tinies with me, so I guess 1 out of the 8 wouldn't be too bad :sorry

    4. Well, considering we had to evacuate recently...eh, my kids got left behind :sweat But at least, they were with someone who I knew was going to take good care of them. So yeah, family first, sketchbooks and resin children second.

    5. If I had notice, I'd totally grab Saif (and my computer and if I was at my parents' house, my doggie).

If I didn't... I'm not sure if Saif would be the first thing to jump into my head. I love him, but he really isn't the first priority when it comes to... not dying... But he is always less than an arm's length away. I think really weird when I'm stressed out, though.

    6. 1. Parents. They'd grab everything they'd think would be necessary.
      2. Rabbit (goes bonkers if it isn't me trying to catch him :|)/Dogs (My dad would probably get them)
      3. Laptop- so much important stuff on it
      4. Dolls- If I knew something like a flood was coming I'd pack them all, but in the case of a fire I'd need my hands to get my rabbit/other important things and I wouldn't be able risk going back upstairs for them :(

    7. Well, I would if I had time. But I would want to save our 5 dogs, cat, guinni pigs, computer, family (before computer lol) and then my dollies. Yes they are important to me and cost a lot of money, but There are more in the world...but not more family.

    8. Just a side note: Glad everyone who was effected by IKE is okay!
I hope the power gets turned on for the Hustonians and the evenmoresouth people!

We only got hit by MAJOR Wind and Rain, but Emma and I snuggled under a blanket and just slept the entire weekend away XD

    9. I'm actually fortunate to live in a country with no earthquakes or any major disasters.
Since my house is rather small, my boy is always within my reach if anything happens. :sweat

    10. If I had time then I would take only my favorite one...because I would need clothes and so forth.

If it were sudden...then I'd make sure everyone was okay while grabbing aforementioned favorite doll. I have mostly tinies so they can go in pockets.

But I have four dogs to rescue so I wouldn't have the time.

    11. Sadly my arms would be full of pets! I'd be sobbing about my boys as I fled, I can admit but my babies come first of course. I don't find it too terrible to lose dolls in such a way if you have to lose anything in a disaster. While I'd be sad, I'd also be working hard to buy them their heads and bodies again, all wouldn't be lost.

    12. I've thought about this a lot. We live on the coast of Florida and are in the first area to go under evacuations from hurricanes. We know what is important to have with us and what isn't. If we had to go to a shelter, there is no way any dolls would be able to go. Space is limited in the shelters and since our county has shelters open for those with pets, the first county to start this, there is even less room. My first concern is for my DH & DD and my dogs. Secondly, for important papers, food & water, & clothing & tolietries.

If we were evacuating in our vehicle to a hotel, again, there is limited space and many more important things to bring than our dolls. Our dolls are just things and even if they can't be replaced, they still can't compare with family & pets.

    13. Already happened. I was in a hotel room with my dolls when the fire alarm went off. I grabbed all my dolls and evacuated. Only thing was I forgot my wallet with all my identification and my car keys as well. :doh Smarts have you.. Lucky me. The whole fire alarm turned out to be a false alarm.

This shows what I'd do in a real emergency. :sweat

    14. I've already told my husband that if an evacuation or fire where to occur, it would be my daughter & sugar gliders(pets) first! then im grabbing all my girls i can get my hands on & my artwork as well. Id hate to see them go , they are like family members to me as well

    15. If there was room/time yeah I don't see why not, but there are way more important things I'd be packing first!

    16. my dolls are the first things in the car with me!

    17. Sad to say, but the doll would be the last on my mind. First thing I would focus on is getting all my pets to safety, and we have a LOT of pets. Then, if I had time, I'd got back for my tablet and my doll, but only if I knew I had time before danger hit.

No matter how attached I am to a doll, I would rather lose him and replace him, then lose a pet that can never be replaced.

    18. Chihuahua, laptop and as many resin ones as I could hold. Hubby can get the camera bag :) I have totally thought about this. It may be sad, but they are my prized possessions.

    19. In the case of fire...if my dolls aren't in a fireproof safe, then (the one I would own in this case) would come with me, right along with my laptop, three cats, and boyfriend.

But actually, since I work for the electric company and am considered a "first responder" to incoming outage calls for storms...this might be a good case for keeping my doll prepped and ready to go (in a nondescript bag, of course). There's no safer place than the place I go to for work to handle storm issues...so that's where my doll would go (along with my laptop, three cats, and boyfriend ;) )

    20. It's for things like this that I'd really like to own a fireproof box. ; 0;
The first things I'd definitely go for would be family and pets, and then my laptop and artwork (I'm an illustrator... XD; so... it's everywhere), and my dolls after that.
But oh if I had a fireproof box! It's too bad, that I can't afford anything for a long while, or I would get one. :C
