Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. but then again, my whole family can run and in the case of there in my basment bedroom and theres a window right outside my door i would probley be able to throw them out ( sorry the house is burning ) as well as my cell and such

    2. First my family, but i think they would get out of the house themselves.
      Then my hamster.
Then my cash (depend on how much there is, if it's only 10 Euros i would leave it there).
Then my teddy bear, i love it to death and can't leave it behind, even if i need to leave my doll behind.
(i know it's sounds strange. i'm fifteen and i still can't sleep without a teddy bear. i also got it from my boyfriend which i'm together with for 20 months now. so it means much to me).
after the teddy bear i would get my doll.

    3. On my back - my dear bass in it's case with all my important music and my skullcandys
In my right hand - My laptop, wallet and phone
In my left hand - Si - my bjd

That's the most important things to me, family and so ofc but material things ^^

    4. Well, I live by myself, so the order would probably be:

      Cat
      Purse
      Shoes
Back-up harddrive with all my photography, writing, music, etc
      Dolls

Since I am in Florida and hurricanes are a fact rather than theory, I usually have a bag ready to go by the door when a storm is coming. If I was really worried, I would probably put the little ones in the bag.

    5. I would try to take all my dolls but it would be a little hard, my cat would be my priority though, i love my dolls but my cat is my manda cuddle bear ^^

    6. If it was OMG URGENT that i leave id probably grab them and toss them in a bag, I'll take the risk of damage to them the keep them with me, but I'm not gonna spend time packing them when I know it would be a bigger and more important effort to find and capture my cat.

    7. It would have to be family members first, then the pets, then when I got to possessions photographs, then my dolls. I remember when I used to live in California we had a big fire about a street away from my house and everything went in my car in that order when I heard them say prepare to evacuate. Luckily though they put out the part of the fire coming to my house, and the cats were very confused coming out of the car

    8. What a good question. I've actually thought about this a lot (call me paranoid or whatever). I would take my computer first since it has all my writing and pictures on it, even though I back-up everything to DVDs so in the event of a fire or tornado that came too quickly I could just grab the disk. Second would be my doll since it would be nearest to me. Then my g.pigs, I keep a emergency box under their huge cage.

    9. Definately they'd come with me, they're family!!

    10. If I was evacuating.. Of course! I love my dolls, and I've invested too much time, money, and emotion into them to leave them behind. I have very few possessions that can't be replaced, such as my computer, which gives me an upper hand with escaping~

This is why I loooove my carrier bag. I can quickly get all my boys into it and have enough room to get my laptop and cords in it as well. Alternatively, I'd put them in my rolly bag and in their place in teh carrier bag would be my ps3 and games. xP

Sadly, all my books would die.. :(

    11. I'd make a grab for them, for certain! :D

    12. Yes. My dolls would be listed second to family and pets. But most certainly I would never leave them behind.

    13. Mh...

Family first, and ipod and phone. Yeah that seems stupid, but i really need music, and my phone to phone my best friend who lives quite far away from me.

I'm scared not to think of my dolls first if we must evacuate quickly.
... And that makes me sad :'(

    14. > What if it was an emergency like the house is on fire?
I have already thought about this often.
First would came my family, but if they are safe, I would ran into my room.
-> Outside the window with every fluffy thing to easy the impact of my loved things. The dolls would take priority. My pet I would take in my shirt an run at least.
At least I would try to evacuate them!

    15. thank GOD for FIRE ALARMS ...GET ONE ...GET 2 !
      CHECK THEM

We had a small kitchen fire last year ..we were alerted by the firealarms ..as my Husband was putting out the flames comming from the cooker ...and smoke belched out into the house
I stood in the hall wondering what to grab ...dolls ...laptop ...cats ...

its my job ...my income ...
      Kids were out ...
cats ran out on their own ...
luckily ...Pete put the fire out
and he turned around to see me stood in the hall with laptop under one arm and a Sainsburys carrier bag full of resin tinys ! ...wide eyed and shakeing !

PS ....it was only because we had 2 new ...good fire alarms ..our small kitchen fire wasnt a major disaster ...you wouldnt believe how fast fire can grow

...I was also told .By the local Fire Protection officer when I asked .for kitchen pan fires (mine was a grill ) get a fireblanket ...DO NOT tip water on it ...or fire extinguishers

we used damp bath sheet ....then I needed new ones ..new cooker ...new fridge and the kitchen redecorated :(

    16. It depends, if it's one of those natural disasters which you sometimes get fairly advanced warnings for, just in case as you may not get hit, then they'd be crammed in the car along side both dogs, three cats, two ferrets, a hamster, a mous, a geko, my brother, sister and parents... with a trailer behind us for the goats! lol

In a touch and go moment, like a fire, if they were right there, I'd grab Brodie (DZ Megi/) because after my dogs, who live in a heated stable outside, he's probably the most important thing to me... If he were far away in the house, i wouldn't risk it for him, but i would for anything alive, any pets or siblings.

The last time i was in a fire alarm was at school, where Brodie was my only priority and the only thing i took to the evacuation point! (He was in a violin case at the time, so people just thought i was saving a hugely expensive instrument!)

Unless an animal is trapped then usually they'll get out on their own. Only my caged critturs would be a real worry in a fire (Hamster, mouse, geko and ocasionally the ferrets)

    17. I live with my dad (no pets or anything, so yeah), and he can certainly take care of himself (in fact, he'd probably be the one waking me up if there was a storm approaching because I'm a heavy sleeper...very heavy!) so the first thing I would grab my doll and if I could also my iPod (an eighth grader usually doesn't have much valuable things, hahaha!)! But in Arizona, you don't really have to worry about storms :3~

    18. Well, at 21 years of age I still live with my 'rents. Mainly due to the fact that they don't want me to leave and I figure hey, why waste a good thing? LOL. Point being. Its just my 'rents and I and my grandfather. Both parents fend very *very well for themselves and would probably be terribly worried about me in the event of a disaster. They'd take car of things such as grandfather and animals (with 5 dogs and 2 cats, more than one person has to deal with that lol)

I myself? Would be tossing dolls into a comforter or something large to bag 'em up and be out with 'em. Depending upon the disaster. Fire? I'd scream for the 'rents and be sure they're groovy. 3 dogs live outside and the others sleep with the rents. Mom would be off to fetch me granddad and so I'd be kickin' out a window to chuck dolls out. XD haha.

Currently I live in Florida, so we have hurricanes. I am lucky to live in a spot that doesn't floor and never evacuates. However, when evacuations are annouced theres always a little bit of time to get junk together, so I'd just take dolls and laptop. o_o everything else can go. ^^;; haha.

wow. that was long. XD; hehe

    19. I just realized how hard it would be to get my sugar gliders out of the house. I'd hope they were in their sleeping box so I could yank it out, but if I tried to grab them they'd tear my fingers up pretty bad. My younger cat's easier to find, but I'm afraid the older one would hide and I wouldn't be able to find her in time. The one in the garage could be let out easy enough and if we open the door the dog will be gone in seconds.

I've decided when my resin kids get here I'm going to put them in my ratty suitcase at night with my laptop a back up disk and maybe my stuffed cat at night. Our issue is tsunamis, flooding, and fire apparently, even though we live several miles (almost an hour's drive) inland. If they're in a case I can get the sugars and the cats. Hopefully my father and brother would stop playing video-games long enough to notice imminent disaster and get themselves out.

    20. 1.my dolls
      2.sister
      3.parents
4.pets(My dad and mom will take care of the pets.)
